I would recommend using a Grundfos SQ 120 or 240 volt AC pump on a timer. Because you mention using a conventional pump, I assume that there's AC power available? The SQ line is very efficient and has no surge at start up. And it's a lot less expensive than the SQF line of pumps. Roy Butler
