Greetings all,
Please pardon my ignorance, but with the group of experts who hang out on
this reflector I'd prefer getting the straight-poop from those who have
'been-there/done-that', rather than trying to find the correct answer the
old-fashioned way!
I'm considering adding a control link to
for it. Is this obsolete software? I see that
they now sell a Windows version.

Amateur radio tags don’t cost any extra in GA, but we pay $20 for the plate
each year, plus an ad valoreum tax on the value of the vehicle. It costs me
about $600/year to tag 3 vehicles, and mine is just a junker.
Oh… and we DO have a state income tax and a sales tax too.

Ron is right. Tone is a band-aide, not a cure all. The way it ‘solves’ many
problems is through masking the interference. The interference is still
present, and when the interference is present at the same time as a valid
signal, the interference again appears on the repeater output.

My club repeater system consists of a KRP-5000 feeding (what we think is) a
DB-224 mounted on a watertower at about 140'. The feedline is about 170
feet of one-inch helix. We'd been getting some comments from users about
decreased coverage, but had attributed most of them to the
return
loss test sweeps which show what a properly operating DB224 looks like
that I could send you for comparison.

I'm restoring a lightning-struck Kendecom Mark 4 to use as a back-up

already done and on line... but I digress.)

Dennis,
Originally, we thought that as well, but we set the squelch up quite a bit
and the problem persisted. We did manage to 'solve' the problem by setting
the squelch very tight (about 2/3 of the way through its rotation, and the
noise level is about 1/3 of the way through the rotation).
Oh goodie... something else for my tiny little brain to keep track of!
