I have and been using LVD drives both Seagate and IBM with 2940UW. The LVD drives will work single ended with a UW cable and the addition of a SE/LVD terminator. The terminator is not needed with single ended drives, so if you upgrading you will need to add a terminator at end of cable. An

Ok, so I got a little carried away - directories did not get renamed, just added as Mike suggested. There was a HUGE amount of directories - in the 1000's of thousands (no exageration). Anyway, deleting them got rid of the problem. Definitely turned auto-update off on Win2k box also. Thanks

Yeah, this is fine, but please note that they'll only run in single-ended mode [not LVD]. All LVD disks support this, though. Your disk will be limited to 40MB/s, rather than what it's spec'd to run on (Ultra2 (80MB/s), Ultra160, or Ultra320). I have a Maxtor Atlas 10k III running off of a
