Cliff,
Code didn't change they are still only required in spaces 36" and less, but
with the expanded listings for the newer CC heads from Reliable, Tyco, and
Globe you can use them as EC heads in some cases for spaces up to 60" deep,
which can come in handy.

Does anyone have a spare 1" male threaded part for the Potter VSR-ST
union? I have access to the rest of the switch, but the part needed to
screw into my pipe is missing.
I'm sure someone has run across a non-operational Potter VSR-ST and is
willing to sell me the union piece I am missing,
the prior ones were listed to 36 inches which triggered the issue. Even if you
have one that still says 36 inches, the next edition will say you can exceed it
(aka supercedes the listing just like they can be used with TJI whereas they
are listed just for solid wood joist).
Clear as mud??
OK Roland thank you very much!
This is why you are the PE and I am...u...
always getting in over my head :)
(things always sound better when i'm alone talking amongst myself)

Well problem solved... Went to a descope meeting and found out we can
install everything exposed and surface mounted. CPVC is obviously out since
top run it exposed you need a smooth flat horizontal ceiling...

Thanks for the responses. The concealed space is 4' to 6' in areas and is above
a convention center, so if we count to the floor we exceed the 20' max ceiling
height. Wasn't aware of the CC sprinklers allowing 60 inch spacing but draft
stopping an area this big makes me cringe. We were able to
A big ole negative on that expectation and other than extra hazard II, this has
nothing to do with the classification. Even then it isn’t the source of
ignition but more the ignitability (aka flammable liquids).
Nonetheless, lets look at this scenario (so when this discussion comes up with

Some input from our tech team:
While NFPA 13 "requires" that specially tested and listed sprinklers be used in
combustible concealed spaces 36" and less, the special listed sprinklers are
not required for spaces greater than 36". Standard coverage, QR sprinklers
would be allowed, and the area
Thank you Mike. I called again, and your email to your tech support made
it a smooth operation. Though I was originally told that part wasn't
available separate from the unit, they agreed to send one out to me.
Thanks again,
Barry

All this to-do about PEX and someone recommended polypropylene? Anyway, good
that you can run it exposed – you going to use seamless SS?
Happy Friday everyone …
