One being my personal laptop, and the other a server permanently networked via NORDVPN. I try installing on those as clean installations, nothing copied from the existing LMS. All three systems have no problems with browser accessing the files, everyone of them fails with LMS. The only common thing among the three systems is they all go through the same cable modem. Two of them connect to a switch which is connected to the modem. The one that runs NORDVPN is connected to the cable modem directly. The two that connect via a TP-Link switch use the common DNS used everywhere except via NORDVPN which provides its own DNS. Remember, thats three different Windows 10 systems, none of which are having any other issues and all three can access the files by browser. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8 Album Art partialy not showing
Hello, i am running LMS 8 on synology. For some reason some of my Album Art is not showing. Actually it is my Vinylrips not showing Album Art on SB Touch nor Ipeng, but it is showing in the webbrowser, but only in the queue, not in the transport window, nor song info window. I am pretty sure it used to show in LMS 7.9, is there any setting or trick to show the Album Art for my Vinylrip Flacs? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
Is it possible to store the prefs folder in a specified location? My reason for asking is that I run two LMS at different locations, they each have a local copy of my music which are sync'd via google drive. So, my music is stored in C:\Google Drive\Music on each LMS and Google back-up & sync sorts out the sync, so if I add an album to either LMS, it ripples across the cloud to the other server, keeping them alligned. It works well and gives the added bonus of having x3 copies of my music (LMS1, LMS2 and Google Drive in the cloud). If I could move the prefs folder to C;\Google Drive\Prefs, I could sync the settings across both LMS as well, so adding a favourite at one location would appear in the other etc. Is that possible? location 1: lms 8.0 on win 10 brix server, x2 sb radios, x1 touch, x1 controller : location 2: lms 8.0 on win 10 brix server, x2 sb radios, x1 duet receiver, x1 controller : alexa mediaserver smart skill, material android, squeezelitex control staresy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112883 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
Where are the 3rd party selections stored? I would have expected them to be in the server pref file, so that on a re-install the 3rd party plugins would be re-download. Ads you saying the only proper way is to re-select the 3rd party plugins after a re-install? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
Where are the 3rd party plugins? I've only been able to locate them (pCP) in slimserver/cache/InstalledPlugins That's correct. But that folder is managed by the plugin installer. If you copy stuff there manually, it might get removed again, or installation of updates may fail or whatever. Just leave the plugin installation to the plugin manager. Don't mess with that folder. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
No, absolutely not. I migrated server only a week or two ago. I copied over _all_ prefs files, but Michael, I am having trouble understanding your response, in particular the first sentence My "absolutely not" was in response to your "I realize much of the "prefs" folder is going to be unique to each version of LMS (right?)". What I wanted to say is that you can very well copy prefs from one computer to another - with my aforementioned exceptions. I guess my question is this: I save favorites.opml. In addition I would like to save saved podcasts, and plugins/repositories if possible, settings, if possible, etc. Yep, that's mostly possible. A fav pointing to a track which does not exist in a different place would obviously not work, though. Of this: 31463 is there anything that can be safely saved and moved to another system, for either: * two running same LMS See my previous comment: you can copy the prefs folder, but would have to remove any path, and the server_uuid from server.prefs. But don't copy the Cache folder. * to rebuild a LMS (say SD card failure) Prefs again. The cache should be re-built automatically. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v7.9.3/logitechmediaserver-7.9.3-arm-linux.tgz It really also depends on how you install it on your NAS. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
In your case with two isolated systems (they cannot reach each other - and the players cannot reach the other LMS) then you really could copy over the files without going through the subsequent edit process that Michael described. The LMS systems would have the same name - but rather than Home and Cabin simply call it/them MusicServer or similar. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What preferences can be backed up/restored, are portable?
I have wondered this for a while I am running LMS two seperate pcp systems, with the pcp configured as a server only, USB HDD's contain the library. Players are the usual touch, boom, radio, receivers...The two systems are located 250 miles apart, one at home, one in a cabin. I want to make them identical so I mirror the library, and backup and mirror favorites.opml using a seperate HDD I take back and forth. I don't do it over the web as most of the power is shut down at one location while we are at the other. I also had trouble upgrading from LMS 7.2 to 7.3, so I just did a new SD with LMS 8.0, and copied over favorites, but of course I had to rebuild plugins, repositories, setting, etc. I also found I had lost my podcasts (but there weren't many). I realize much of the "prefs" folder is going to be unique to each version of LMS (right?), but I am wondering, are their subfolders or other files that will port, and are version independent (similar to favorites)? It would be great if I could preserve any of: Podcasts Plugins Repositories Other settings, for example, the display format of my boom - e.g. Song (Artist), small VU, etc. Even if there is a way to export to a text file, that I could reference if I have to rebuild, that's a start.
