. Tidal tech support is telling me to disable ickStream and then reenable it. Before the last time I updated LMS to the current version, I had an ickStream plugin on the Settings page. It appears to be gone now and there is only the Tidal plugin? Note: I have started my own Tidal account for a month to make it easier to troubleshoot this problem. When I goto ickStream's Site, all my Slim Devices Players are listed their like they are list at MYSB.com. Are they there because I used the ickStream plugin two or three years ago with my Tidal 30 day trial? The track play timer moves from Zero on the left to about 10 seconds without any actual Audio output, then I get the "Connection Reset by Local Host" error when trying to us Tidal from LMS. When I put the Touch on MYSB.com from LMS using Extras/Music Source/MYSB.com, the Touch shows as being on MYSB.com in the MYSB.com Web GUI and when I select Tidal it goes there, if I select Playlists, it shows my neighbors Playlist, I select one, click on Play, the Icon changes to the Pause Icon, and I get nothing. No Audio, no track timer, nothing. After about 10 to 12, the Pause Icon changes back to a Play Icon. I have no pay subscriptions but I able to goto Radios in the MYSB.com Web GUI and Select 80's and play the stream from the highest bit rate stream available to pick from and it played. I left it playing all night just to make sure and when I turned my amp back on in the morning it was still streaming audio. *-Michael-* I believe my neighbor is on Comcast (I'll verify today) and I'm on AT Fiber. Additional new info this morning (I am wondering if it might be related to having used LMS on the Windows 10 Server, I am back on the Vortexbox Server currently). Now when I goto Settings/Advanced/Networking and press on Switch to MYSB.com, it no long blinks once and makes the error "Donk" sound. Now when I press Switch to MYSB.com, there is an Error message and tells me to do a Factory Reset. I did the Reset and now I can switch back and forth from LMS and MYSB.com from the Touch. Additionally where as I had absolutely no local control at the Touch when using MYSB.com by switching over to MYSB.com via LMS, I have full control at the Touch. Next, if I goto APPS, I can now switch to Tidal (no longer get a Blink and a Donk), so Tidal opens and when I try to play something I now still get the "Connection Reset by Local Host" error message on every track. Is this because even though I have "switched" to MYSB.com LMS is still running on the Vortexbox? Next, shouldn't I be able to get to MYSB.com from the Touch Unit itself? The only way I can put any of my Squeezeboxen on MYSB.com is to use LMS! I have to goto the left panel on LMS, click on Extras, then click on Music Source, then select MYSB.com. Sort of defeats the purpose of not having LMS running if "I" can't get to LMS from a Squeezebox device? Next, Tidal is acting two different ways. The way I have been describing when attempting to play Tidal using LMS with the "Connection Reset by Local Host" error then moving to the next track in the play list and how it acts with MYSB.com once I move a Player over with LMS. On MYSB.com, the song looks like it wants to play and the Play Icon changes to a Pause Icon for about 10 seconds, then changes back to a Play Icon without any audio ever playing and it does not move to the next track. I get the exact same results whether the Vortexbox is powered on or is off. Next I shutdown and disconnect my Vortexbox from the network and did as Michael asked and fired up the Lenovo M57 running Windows 10 and DL'd LMS. Once installed, I am running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.7.6 - 1521467459 @ Thu Mar 29 16:46:01 WEDT 2018 on a Windows 10 machine and it did the exact same thing as Vortexbox running LMS Ver: 7.9.1 - 0.7.201804 May 14 2018. As I said I highly doubt it is a Vortexbox related issue because 1) Nobody else is complaining about Tidal not working on the Vortexbox Forum (other then me), 2) it is doing the exact same thing on a fresh Windows 10 LMS install 3) it was working perfectly prior to April 16, 2018. *Michael:* do you want me to try a newer version on LMS on the Windows 10 PC to what happens? If yes, could you give me instructions on how to get the .exe of a newer Windows version of LMS? The setting page is telling me I have the latest version. I have not brought down a Windows LMS update since the last one during Touch roll-out so it has been a while and I don't remember where it was getting the newer versions. With all I am seeing that is not normal, there has to be a clue as to what is making this happen. SO Vortexbox wasn't an issue before. The fix for the problem two months ago even after you guys got the servers and routes figured out for everybody else, Vortexbox users had no Tidal, OUR additional fix was that the Vortexbox repos had too old of a version of LMS to work with the fixes YOU came up with so everybody had to pull down a newer version of LMS but those of us running a VBA 2.3 could not as Andrew had not placed anything newer then June 2017 in the VBA 2.3 LMS Repo. So to recap, everything was working fine with both VBA 2.3 & 2.4 on April 15, 2018. Then all US Tidal went down for ANYBODY using LMS. You guys did your thing but when everybody else came up those of us using Vortexbox did not. This was an issue of not having a new enough version of LMS to be able to use the fixes you guys made. See the conversations with Andrew from Vortexbox. Next, Tidal does NOT work with MYSB.com which Vortexbox is not involved with. Something else is going on here. It would be one thing if Tidal never worked with Vortexbox and LMS but that is not the case as I had a 30 days trail two years ago and it worked fine, I have been running Vortexbox Sever for over 9 years since version 0.9 which might have even been a Beta. Just this week I recovered a drive from an old PC that died in 2012 that was running VBA 1.3 based on Fedora 11 (glad I did as I found 43 CDs I had ripped, never backed up properly and must have forgot about). Plus my neighbor has also always had a Vortexbox Server because I built his Server 5 years ago and he has been using Tidal for over two years now. Additionally, not one single person other then me is still complaining that Tidal is no longer working with their Vortexboxes and those that had the April 16, 2018 through almost the first of May, never had the "Connection Reset by Local Host" problem. I have an old Lenovo M57 desktop around the house and I will if it is operational (was going to gut it and make it a Vortexbox with SSD and 6TB data drive). . First there are several open Tidal Problem posts/threads so if a moderator thinks this needs moved, please feel free to. But since this is specific and none of the answers in those other posts have helped, I figured I would start a post specific to the problem. Troubleshooting a neighbors Tidal issue and am able to duplicate the issue at my home using his account. OK, really stuck here. Both my neighbor and I are running Vortexboxes using VBA 2.4 (everybody I have turned onto Squeezebox is running a Vortexbox I built for them) and all running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 0.7.20180404git1522249619 @ Mon May 14 10:51:59 EDT 2018 (known good with Tidal as it solved an issue others were having). Yet whether trying to use Tidal at his home or mine, there is a "Connect Reset by Local Host" error! The advice from the Slim Devices Forum was to reset everything. So I unplugged his modem, router, all his Squeezboxen, all Ethernet connected devices in his home, and shut off the WiFi in all devices, shutdown his Vortexbox Server. Came back 30 minutes later, plugged in modem, router, waited 5 minutes, turned on the VBA, waited 5 minutes, plugged his Touch units in and turned on his Transporter. Did not put anything else on the network. Went to Tidal and we could do any search we want to, pick any album or song and send it to the Touch and it shows in the Playlist, BUT the second we try to play any Tidal song the Track Time shows it is supposedly playing but we have no audio and when it get to the 10 to 12 second mark, the Touch displays "Connect Reset by Local Host", then moves to the next track in the playlist if there is one, shuts down to Time screen saver if no tracks remain. The odd thing is that his is specific to trying to run Tidal with LMS. We can use his account to play Tidal over a laptop or smart phone at both our homes so if its an Internet Local Host issue, why does Tidal play fine over our laptops? Tidal does everything but Play using Touch with LMS, but when I switch to MYSB.com and try to use Tidal, nothing. The display blinks once but goes nowhere and makes the "donk" error sound. From the MYSB.com Player GUI, I can search and pick music to play. I pick a song to play, it appears again to be playing but no audio, after 12 to 15 seconds the Play Icon changes to a Pause Icon. If I click on play again, the process repeats. It refuses to play. . I don't have a direct answer to your question, but I do know a solution you can use. It is called PerfectTunes and it will find missing album art for you and fix tags if you wish it to. https://www.dbpoweramp.com/perfecttunes.htm It is a dBpowerAmp co-product from Illustrate. . Even more strange! Got up this morning, turned on the amp in the Master Bedroom and there was immediately music coming from my speakers. I have not yet reset anything and my Touch is on MYSB.com playing the 70's channel I tried to get it to play yesterday. I still have no control over anything directly on the Touch. I have a large commercial UPS since I retired from a major Telecommunications company and there was an older one they were just going to scrap. So once it was set out for pickup I took what I needed plus the house has a 20KW emergency generator. My router and modem and all SBs have not been turned off or without power in over 4 years. Wonder if my Router and Modem need updates as most auto updates only get installed after a power outage or rebooting them. I'll shut down everything tonight and boot fresh. But this doesn't make sense with my neighbor having similar issues. Thanks Kidstypike for the Remote Button, I had remembered a GUI control for using MYSB.com but thought it was through LMS. Next, I do show the MYSB.com in LMS on both my Server and my neighbors Server. What both of us don't see is any change on any Touch when we go to Settings/Advanced/Networking and touch "Switch to MYSB.com", it does a quick screen flash and makes the "You made an error sound" the Donk when I press "Switch to MYSB.com". When I check LMS, the Touch is still connected to the Server. If in LMS I go to Extras, I can connect the Touch to MYSB.com but then can't do anything (I don't have any subscribed services and my neighbor is not using his Tidal account at his house while I am testing looking for a solution) so it will not play Tidal either. What I don't know is if that is because of the known Tidal issue he is having or MYSB.com is not really connected or because I can't navigate on MYSB.com. Question: Is there a known good free service or station I can try to connect to via MYSB.com? On the Touch that is now supposedly connected to MYSB.com, when I go to Settings/Advanced/Networking the "Switch to MYSB.com" is no longer there which should make sense if it is actually on MYSB.com. But on the Window that opens when I select Tidal, pick a song, press play, nothing audio wise happens. The Play Icon changes to a Pause Icon for about 15 seconds, then returns to a Play Icon, then about 5 seconds later the Touch turns off and displays the Time/Date. Anytime the Touch is awake, the Music Note symbol is in the upper right corner and if I tap it, it shows no Playlist but does show the last song I played while connected to LMS. Lastly once the Touch is switched to MYSB.com and on the Touch I go to APPS and touch Tidal, the end marker changes to a "Spinny" and never goes anywhere or does anything. . Oh well, so much for thinking it was fixed. No sooner was I home and getting a glass of water then my neighbor called saying it was doing the same thing! We played a few single random songs while it was working and he then loaded up an Album as I was leaving. The Touch started playing the album getting through 6 songs before it stopped playing and generated the same old Error: Connection Reset By Local Host So now what? I also noticed something about all of my Squeezeboxen as well as his, NONE of then will allow you to start or goto MYSB.com. There is no Tab or button anywhere for MYSB.com plus when you goto Settings/Advanced/Networking/Switch to MYSB.com and press that line on the Touch, all it does is blink once and make the "don't do that" donking sound while not switching to MYSB.com. I went to the web and MYSB.com entered his username and password and it show there. Still nothing. Next went to LMS Settings/MYSB.com/Email & Password entered them and clicked on Apply. . Ok, so my neighbors Tidal stopped working in April. He calls me over and it all looks fine. I check the SD Forum and looks like the current LMS on his VBA 2.3 Server needs updated. I am able to update from June 2017 to December 2017 but no higher. This does not solve the issue. I read the May 14, 2018 LMS is recommended. My neighbor says he wants to upgrade to VBA 2.4 anyway, so I had him backup all his music to make sure he had a current backup. I have updated his Vortexbox to version 2.4 (which requires wiping the drives as Fedora 20 is replaced with Fedora 23). So now his LMS Server is back up and running and streams his files without issue. LMS is now: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.1 - 0.7.20180404git1522249619 @ Mon May 14 10:51:59 EDT 2018 He is getting the exact same Error he was getting back in April: Connection Reset By Local Host And the song never plays any audio even though it shows 6 seconds pasted on the track bar. Then it gives me the Error message and goes to the next song if there is one from his FLAC Files in the playlist to play. If no next song, the Touch shuts off to the Time Screensaver. When I Google "Connection Reset By Local Host" it says to check ISP, Router, Firewall, and Network settings. Yet nothing is different then before this problem started and more importantly my neighbor can stream Tidal to his Phone, Laptop, and Desktop without issue over the exact same ISP, Router, Firewall, and Network. One thing I did find odd is that when he checked the Tidal Plugin and saved it with the Apply button, it never asked him for Tidal Username or Password. There is no place this could be saved for it to pull from since the Vortexbox Server was completely reformatted during the install of Vortexbox 2.4. He had to put his LastFM information back in as well as his MYSB.com info. When I used the Tidal free trail, I also remember the plugin asking me for username and password. So last night I brought his Vortexbox and Touch over to my home and it does the same thing on my network and also whether I use his Touch or Mine. Is there a means possible to place this Blocking feature in LMS "Settings" with a default setting of ON so that people not needing it to be OFF are protected, yet those that choose to and need to turn it off can? Improve support for SSL protected communication. The post I read from Michael said that disk space is used for the actual list, do you have a drive available for your RPi to compile the list on or is it forced to use the remaining system RAM? If no free drive space, poor tagging, or massive amount of Genres will all lead to slower times before play starts. I know its a pain, but this is why Tagging is so important during the ripping process and fixing tags after ripping is so important especially for large music libraries. Consistency is the key to fast organized music library database. I have a large library by any standard of measurement and proper tagging is the only thing that makes it manageable. It's time to download a copy of MP3Tag if you don't already have a copy and do an hour of re-tagging a day until your library is cleaned up. If it were me, I would make a list of absolute Genre that I just had to have. For me it took labeling Albums as just "Rock" whether it was hard rock, pop rock, 70s rock, 80s rock, southern rock, alt rock, classic rock, acid rock, blues rock, country rock, british rock, garage rock, glam rock, indie rock, hair band rock, progressive rock, etc . . . . I tried to do away with easy listening, by putting it in pop, but it made it to hard for the better half to quickly play her type of tunes. One good thing about MP3Tag is that it is very powerful, so changing all "acid rock" labelled tracks to just "Rock" only takes a click or two and you can go do something else if you have a large genre being changed to match an even larger genre because you are not doing each one individually plus you don't have to individually approve each change when doing a batch. Just my thoughts from a Music/LMS junkie with an overly large music library. I have a powerful dedicated Server with 8GB of Ram running Vortexbox 2.4 and LMS. It takes about 10 to 30 seconds to build a specific genre playlist and about 3 minutes and 21 seconds on average to build a random song playlist with all genres checked. No matter the size, the playlist builds and starts playing automatically after an X amount pause. If I had more specific Genre with fewer songs in them, I am sure some single Genre picks would probably start playing almost instantly. Michael is the guru when it comes to this and like him, I have been running Linux since Vortexbox version 0.9. I agree Linux is the total package and most powerful, plus I agree if you build a server and just put a Linux Distro on it, one needs to "Know" Linux. But here is where I see an option my mentor might be overlooking: *Vortexbox* Vortexbox uses Fedora Linux as its base, but it is designed to run both LMS and PLEX with minimum or even no user knowledge of Linux. Basically the best of both world, the power of Linux but with the set it up and forget it of an NAS. Can it do more things if one knows or learns Linux, yes. But knowing Linux is not required. All that is needed is the ability to flash an image on a USB Thumb drive (simple instructions provided) and use the flash drive on a target PC/Server, and the USB does the rest. Vortexbox has a GUI for EVERYTHING else, no Linux needed. My parents and even my blonde sister are running LMS servers with Vortexbox. It is worth a look if an NAS has been a pain or you want more power for less money and can flash a USB Thumb Drive. www.vortexbox.org And yes I am a big fan of Vortexbox. I highly recommend NOT buying or using any NAS. Yes they work, yes there are some decent ones out their, but you get so much more power and use out of a real media server. If you don't want to deal with Windows, NT, or other OSs, I can highly recommend Vortexbox 2.4. It is a media server OS built on Fedora Linux. It easily runs LMS and PLEX as well as other useful powerful programs so it can act as an NAS if you need to store files that are not music, movies, or picture files. An older PC can be used as a target PC to put Vortexbox onto (note: Vortexbox wipes ALL drives and places a Fedora OS on the PC). Or an older PC can be used as a starting point and additional parts added to make the Media Server you need. On an additional note, a true 64bit CPU and Motherboard make the best donor/target PC for Vortexbox. One can add an SSD drive to run the OS on and all other added drives will be storage. I highly recommend not setting up any RAID because it is NOT backup, just make proper timely backups to USB drives with the built in Backing Up procedure. If you have questions about Vortexbox have a look at their website or ask on this forum as several of us are running it. Lastly, note that Vortexbox 2.4 REQUIRES a true 64 bit machine, if the target PC is 32 bit one must use Vortexbox 2.3. I have owned 2 different NAS machines and neither were able to deal with my library or really made a decent LMS Server (and I had high end NAS units). Possible solution: At the Cabin, I use a NUC with 4GB of RAM and 2TB Hard Drive running Vortexbox as my server, an old WiFi Router that still works that I replaced via upgrade at home, a Boom, a Baby w/ battery, and a Touch. The nice thing about having the old WiFi Router is I can carry the Baby around anywhere around the cabin without Ethernet cables (only the Touch is on Ethernet). Bonus with this set-up is that the NUC can be used in your vehicle with an inverter or a permanent 12VDC connection for the NUC and DC/DC converter for the Touch wired to your vehicle's battery! As for power problems there are simple solutions to that also. The first one is to actually fix the problem which has to be one of two things, either a weak/worn out breaker or too many items plugged into that breaker's circuit that are turned on which are overloading the circuit. On circuits that I have issues with that I know I am not exceeding the maximum amperage, I replace the breaker with a magnetic breaker as these breakers only trip with an actual short or loads that actually exceed their ratings (they are not affected by heat, do not become weak). Magnetic Breakers also do not trip during a momentary quick slight exceeding of their rating because magnetic breakers can deal with momentary slight surges such as power supply startup current inrush or turning on an amplifier. Now if we are talking about an old time actual fuse circuit, the circuit has too many items being used that exceed the fuse rating and one needs to stop overloading the circuit (do NOT increase the fuse size as the circuit fuse size is based on the wire size of that circuit). So if using fuses, one usually has to run an additional new circuit to deal with additional current demand so that devices can be moved off one circuit and some onto the new circuit to balance out the demand over two circuits. Then add if there is interference from other WiFi Networks using the same channel if one is trying to use only WiFi connected Squeezeboxen! Lastly, if the players can't transcode the source file natively, then that is additional strain on the Server. I have had 21 players sync'd at one time with more then half on Ethernet and all of them actual Slim Devices (one side note, players need to be SB3/Classics or newer). Playing one source file seems like not such a big deal if the Server and bandwidth are available and transcoding is not needed. One needs a powerful server if wanting to Sync eight to ten players while having several others players running different playlists. Touch in the beginning has all three and when I tap on Switching to MySB.com the screen jolts to the right a quarter inch and the Touch makes the "Doink" sound. . Hi Michael, I have not used MySB.com since 2009 or 2010, but I thought that I remembered that it was a full blown switch over as if one was going to a new Server. If that wasn't the case or is no longer the case (I seem to remember I had to be on MySB.com or my LMS Server, never both, but ICBW as it was a long time ago and I didn't use it that much, mainly only when Slim Devices wanted Beta Testers to check something). How should I test whether it is available or not if I can't go to Networking and switch to MySB.com? . Winner! The Transporter connected this way and is streaming music via MySB.com. My server is still off so it has to be MySB.com. The odd thing is I had to do a full registration via the Transporter front panel but when I did had LMS up and running, it showed the Transporter as already registered to MySB.com. Now where do I go from here, what do I try next? I have two proofs that I have a working MySB.com account (Transporter and through the Website). . My BASIC SETTINGS page looks identical to your's except for File Paths being for my Server: /storage/music/flac and /storage/music/playlist. I have so much music ripped that I, like you, have never used MySB.com except when I was Beta Testing LMS and Slim Devices hardware (Duet, Boom, Touch, Baby). What started this was registering both a brand new Touch and registering a used one I just purchased to me instead of the previous owner. I forgot my MySB.com username plus I don't have that email address anymore anyway. The quickest place to look up ones MySB.com username is on the Touch under Player Info as the last two lines are MySB.com and Username, except of course on MY Squeezeboxen! But now that they are properly registered, it would be nice to use MySB.com IF I wanted to or to help other Forum members troubleshoot (which I can't do because I can't see what goes on since I can't bring up MySB.com). I also couldn't add any new My Apps which was causing problems. Also can you go to LMS Settings/Advanced/Logging then in the first drop down under Logging pick Server then page down and turn Debug on for both MySB.com positions then Click on Apply in the lower right corner and have them STAY? . That is just it. I don't use an anti-virus or any security products. I have a real firewall and I only run Macs or Fedora and Ubuntu Servers and PCs. I have tried Firefox and Safari on my Macbook Pro and I even pulled out an Asus Laptop running Windows 8 that has never been on the Internet and tried using Windows Internet Explorer and it does the same thing. I just tried the Better Half's iPad and it does the exact same thing. I have a 7 inch Android Tablet somewhere in the house so I will charge it and give it a try. With ALL of the devices and browsers tried so far doing the exact same thing, the engineer in me says it has to be LMS or something about the Server. Michael, is there any possibility that it could be something to do with any of my Players? Should I drop all of them off the network and see what happens? Or go to the other extreme, should I drop the Server and run Built-in Server on one of my Touch Units to see if I can connect to MySB.com with the main server not running. . Has anybody ever had any issues with LMS not accepting and saving selections or changes? LMS is saving my MySqueezebox.com Username under Settings/mysb.com but it will not take and save my password no matter what I do. I have tried entering it then clicking apply, entering it and hitting enter, and even entering it, hitting enter, then apply (after doing any of this the line is blank before leaving the page). When I come back it's just my Username. I wanted to turn on Debug to see what is going on, but I also can't change anything on the Settings/Advanced/Logging page either. I was able to fill in my Last.FM info and it accepted and saved it. It is like some things are working and some are not. As an example, I can change how often I want LMS to look for the latest version and it keeps and saves the change. I had Michael check my Username and Password which are indeed correct. I unboxed a brand new Touch and was able to complete the Registration using my MySB.com Username and Password so I know they are good. I am running a 2.3 Vortexbox Server and Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 0.150.20161204git1480516903 @ Sun Dec 4 22:31:21 GMT 2016. I have rebooted several times and checked for all Fedora updates and did a cleanup, No Joy!
