169.254.x.y is the special address range used when DHCP is expected (not
static assignment) and it was unable to get an IP address.
Try restarting LMS now that you do have a DHCP allocated address.

How about when the sync group is the RPi and one other - i.e. not all 3.

It could be related to the type of the data that is being played and
whether or not it is being played directly by the player or being
proxied / transcoded by LMS.
Others might be able to repeat it if you give the URL that you are
playing.

It does not affect old devices like slimp3.
However, has the IP address of your LMS changed?

on mysteriously ... because it just crashed and
rebooted.
Of course, if in those 24 days you reboot it yourself then reset the 24
day wait period.
