I remember seeing a python utility and browsing the 1/3-party software sub forum I discovered one written in Go. I cant tell you more Im afraid. These utilities would all use the servers CLI on port 9090 I assume. So the server could be installed as a container or on a host just as well. However, unless youre comfortable working with containers I dont see the advantage compared to using an inexpensive and dedicated platform like a Pi. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

It works fine for me and it has a concept of player groups, or classes if you prefer, so you can address a group of players in one go, e.g. squeezy group 1 power ? (approximate syntax) I use this to reset players groups in the server every morning. The squeezy groups definitions serve as baseline and the LMS groups are players found alive among the squeezy groups. I have rolled the squeezy calls into a truly abominable bash (what was I thinking!) script which gets called via cron. For some rare calls I use netcat to communicate with the CLI, if I wasnt lazy I would have had extended squeezy itself and add some macros. The employees take care of their shop and their customers. There is an audio ambiance in the store, its only logic that employees can interact with whats playing. Skipping a song or pausing music isnt quite enough. Some customers have a taste in music and sometimes have asked to listen to a particular song or artist... Not often, but it happened. I was asked to make a system that worked consistently. Not exposing the web interface would have been easy, but its never been an option to impose on the team one more system they have no control over. They have the right to control, and it has to be robust. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player library views and random mix preferences interaction?
Ok, the real scenario is this: - A shop with multiple players and multiple shop assistants - Big library and Pi3 server, USB drive, HFS+ filesystem (dont ask) in the office. Scans and searches take a while. - The big library has 3 top folders, 2 virtual libs are created off 2 of these. - Morning at 7AM employees start coming in. A script fires. It finds available players, creates a sync group, sets the group leader to virtual lib 1, make it play random songs - Morning at 10AM customers start coming in. A script fires, puts players to sleep, re-does same as above but over a much safer library 2. - Evening 8PM the shop closes down. A script fires to put players to sleep. - Next morning 5AM, run a routine DB scan to get ready for the next day. - During the day a shop assistant may use the web interface and make manual selections. My automaton derails if Random mix was set to use a virtual lib in particular. Back to your suggestion, I could perhaps at night after the rescan create 2 huge playlists. IÂm not sure how IÂd do that programmatically. But during the day people may want to use the web interface (actually they do, thatÂs why the problem has emerged). A library view is much superior to a playlist for my scenario, in that you can interact with whatÂs playing the way you want via the web interface, only youÂre in a sandbox. Playlists are much more static. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Alices player plays a random list of Alices songs, and same for Bob. Only that no longer works for Alice when someone fiddles with the random mix settings through the web interface and locks it to pick songs from the Songs for Bob library view. And conversely. The only way everybody stays happy is to set random mix to select from the entire database it seems. I dont know how to lock that pref, nor how to undo it via the CLI. I dont understand the scope of this pref exists in the web interface. TBH I think this is a bug. 2 SB 3 1 PCP 6 Libratone Loop, Zipp, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113861 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player library views and random mix preferences interaction?
I have a question related to player library views and random mix preferences. My library is organised in multiple top folders, e.g. /music/alice, /music/bob I am using library views, created by saving advanced searches on each library directories, e.g. 'Songs for Alice', 'Songs for Bob' I use cron jobs that set players to get songs from either the default (real) library or one of the library views, clears the current playlist, then loads 'playlist add randomplay://tracks'. This is done programmatically, mostly with squeezy. The problem arises when a player is set, e.g. to pick from library view 'Bob', and at some time someone set, via the web interface, random mix selections to operate on library view 'Alice'. In this case, 'playlist add randomplay://tracks' returns empty. 'playlist add randomplay://tracks' will only return correct and non-empty if random songs are set to be picked from the real library, or from the same virtual library as the one the player is set to use. I'm seeing this on a slightly seasoned LMS 7.9 arm build, but also on Logitech Media Server Version: 8.1.1 - 1610364019 @ Thu Jan 14 06:23:13 CET 2021 (i686) Questions: - I'm unclear if the random mix preference is system-wide, tied to a player or tied to the web client used to set the pref. Can someone clarify? - Is there a way for my players to get correct random playlist results regardless of that preference? In other words, is using 'playlist add randomplay://tracks' a bad idea? Or is there a CLI command that my cron job could fire to ensure random songs will be picked from the default database, at least for the initial elements of the random playlist? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Announcement thread LMS 8.0 - what are the differences?
Hello Michael, all, long time no see. I'm glad to discover projects like LMS 8 or that dizzying squeezeAMP thing. And also I broke out picoreplayer 6.0 yesterday, looks great and works great as always. I was wondering if any thoughts would go towards making LMS more "container-native"? It is possible to spawn an entire system in one go: server, players (squeezelite), and dedicated network (All RPis in my case). I have a feeling it might be useful, although pCP and -I suppose- squeezeAMP simplify deployment greatly in their own way. In general, running LMS as a component feels a little contrary. The squeezeboxserver_safe thing is redundant with external means of ensuring health checking and restart, preferences are buried deep in the fs, logging to stdout would be more natural etc. Perhaps LMS could be componentized a bit so that it could support, e.g. a clustered front-end. I don't know if that make sense; only thing I know is that running without the web frontend makes the server use less RAM. I played only with radio streams, so did not went on to explore the distributed audio files situation; I feel it's feasible but I know something would happen to the DB if, say, half of the files go away at runtime or between runs. Image building is not optimal. With limited time to dedicate to the container, I ended up with a rather fat debian+LMS package image, and an "entrypoint" that summons "squeezeboxserver" directly. I visited the Alpine alley in hope of a quick weight gain and found no usable (or recent?) package. I then had the idea of creating a makefile set for buildroot but I backed off in a hurry (sorry for that.) Again, glad to see the community in great shape. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111515 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

The first one belongs to docker networking and is used to access the web interface from the LAN. The second one belongs to weave net, it is the one that squeezelite should use. So in some configuration rotation you only have the problem of the Pi not being able to use the internet, otherwise all is fine. In this case I suggest you add Code: interface wlan0 metric 100 to /etc/dhcpcd.conf That will give wireless priority over ethernet, when in Rasbian (in dhcpcd) the default is to the contrary. The Pi will use the wireless default gateway instead of the dud on the LAN. PS: I wouldn't mess with LMS options all that much. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Investigating LMS 7.9.1 crash on restart
BTW, I am running a custom watchdog script to test the condition of a few processes. The LMS is very robust and its status is a bit tricky to assess (multiple processes, can take all the CPU during rescan) so my check is lax and infrequent on LMS. Now I am thinking I should filter syslog entries "Logitech Media Server died. Restarting." and raise a definitive alarm when that line appears too often. I can edit syslog.conf to filter/redirect to a custom logfile, check the freshness that logfile with watchdog and be done with it. I looked in server log and LMS was caught in a restart loop. The problem happened at 4:00. I reinstalled logitechmediaserver_7.9.1~1492077569_arm.deb, so not the same version but one I had lying around in the machine. This "solved" the problem as the server restarted ok this time. The uptime of the machine was 78 days, dmesg or syslog didn't show anything extraordinary. Load was a bit higher than normal due to LMS restarting incessantly, but still very manageable for the system. LMS doesn't work on Sundays on that machine :) I guess something happened on the way to saving the DB when LMS stopped, and then it failed to restart? In any case I would like to know how to make my crontab restart script less naive and avoid this problem in the future. Any idea what might have happened and how to make restart more sturdy? Is it possible to imagine an extension or plugin to LMS that would include the notion of roles (owner/manager-DJ/audience) and use that to limit actions on the "server" (eg setting prefs) and on "players" (eg clear playlist)? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS@Raspbian - wake up external USB HD attached to router
I'm not sure disabling spindown is much of an option on recent drives. In general there are 2 possible strategies: a) enforce system state: don't let the drive slide into sleep, b) go stateless: try to reconnect every time you need the drive. As already said by drmatt, first place to look for solutions are mount/system options on the Pi and on the router. If nothing helps, some add-on or changes to the client can be made: - run (on the server or the client) a script that regularly runs "touch" on a dummy file, accesses a web page on that drive, etc. Beware of caches which will try to avoid drive spinup. And perhaps finally link this keep-alive script to LMS usage via SrvPowerControl plugin. - switch the client to automounting with a short dismount timeout (less than the HDD timeout). A mount is expected by the O.S. to take some time, so it is more of a blocking call. Upon accessing the library, rather than being swiftly returned by the O.S., LMS would be blocked until the OS has something to return. For a robust system I would recommend the stateless way. With a stateful system if the drive (or router, or link between hosts) goes away your client will hang until it is back; useful for a thin-client workstation but not much else. (Not mentioning the case where the client doesn't hang, but crashes...) Have fun, maybe. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108638 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can LMS listen on multiple interfaces
pCP does VLANs but only after boot. You'll get multiple interfaces. There is no VLAN "bootcode" and I am pretty sure pCP would be upset if you'd nuke the native interface. If you want to completely remove a pCP machine from the native network and make it live only within the VLAN, I think the only way to do this is by configuring a switch. Some switches do "dynamic VLAN" (MAC address -> VLAN association, akin to DHCP MAC-based reservations), that would be pretty handy in this scenario. If you "create VLANs" I'm not sure this will fix DLNA's affairs. I guess you want a single VLAN so that client-to-client communication works as well as client-to-server. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108164 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] FadeInSecs inconsistent with URL randomplay://tracks?
Hi there. I need to setup a cron task that starts a player on random tracks, with fade-in (yes, I know alarm does that.) I'm using squeezy or the telnet CLI I generate the random playlist with " playlist add randomplay://tracks", then I expected the player would start smoothly with something like " playlist index 0 100". However this is rarely the case. Many times the player will start at normal volume without fade-in. Squeezy seems to report a timeout in the JSON client. I examined track duration, file format and system load, however I don't see why fadeInSecs is sometimes taken into account, and often not. The server is a Pi with an USB HDD, it isn't fast and one core is loaded at 100% for a little while when the URL is converted into a list of tracks. I didn't find a way to generate the actual playlist without starting to play it right away (ie without using "index 0"). I would rather not step player volume over a period of time in the script, but now I am tempted to try that... Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Random short disconnects from Squeezebox 3
I would consider all the hardware on the path between the SB3 and the server. E.g. Ethernet switches that are manageable and less than ~ 5 years old have power saving features that could deactivate a port. If you look at the information tab in LMS settings, you will see if the SB3 is using ether or wifi: when on wifi "signal strength" is reported. If the SB3 is set to acquire an address via DHCP, and the address is no fixed in the router, perhaps releasing the lease and reacquiring and address is not instant. I don't recommend using a static IP on the SB3 but you could test with it. (If it uses a static IP make sure it is outside of the DHCP addresses pool) Good luck. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107940 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Squeezy, a CLI 1/3 party control utility can sort that out I think. Specifically it has a notion of "group" that can be used to send commands to all players in that group in one go. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] mono audio setting possible in LMS
In PCP: main page > beta mode. Then Extras > asound. Select all the options, then generate. If you want equal *and* mono at the same time, you need something like 'this asound.conf' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107539-PCP3-2-Need-to-inject-sound-from-aplay-while-squeezelite-runs=886323=1#post886323) (sorry I didn't find the original poster's message). Login to pcp with ssh, copy that file to /etc/asound.conf, then backup your settings with "pcp bu" and only then reboot the player. Of course you need to adapt this file in case your system doesn't use "hw0:0". 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107776 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Does a sox (?) DSP plugin make sense?
I am in the throes of setting up a bit of DSP with ladspa within ALSA on PCP. What I need is something like a "night mode" compressor. Achieving this with ALSA is not user-friendly and I hit limitations. Due to the ladpsa chain -and a dmixer I need for other reasons- I end up with PCP players that have lost their equalizer GUI and need a buffer size of at least 325ms to play CD-quality sources. The compressor chain is rather crude (I don't know how to use a side-chain in ALSA) and that big buffer is not good news for sync: players can be in sync but the audio processing in ALSA somehow not, so it is now possible to get discernable echo and the players will not try to fix it, they sustain it... So to make sure as little as possible happens in the ALSA layer, I've fixed players to report and use 16/44.1. And now sox kicks in when the occasional DVD-A comes about and this taxes the server, too. All of this with raspberry amplifier boards that can support natively a ludicrous number of samples sizes and frequencies but are a bit lacking in the mixer department Then it hit me: I don't really mind loading the server up to the gills or adding latency as long as further down the road the software players sync and use an ALSA layer as thin as possible. It looks like sox is ladspa- or maybe lv2-aware, so I am wondering if a DSP plugin in LMS would make sense? 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107679 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.0 is out!
I wanted to add to a thread I remember of (a user who chooses to shutdown his/her NAS) but I couldn't find it back. Right now I a using Logitech Media Server Version : 7.9.1 - 1491339164 @ Tue Apr 4 21:14:44 UTC 2017 on a Pi 2, connected to a 1st-gen WD green 1TB drive via some no-name USB dock. Of this setup, only the Pi, SD and OS are to be trusted. The adapter and drive are expected to be flaky and I rarely use them. I want to report what I think is iffy/unclear behavior of LMS in this context: it easily "loses" songs (the files are still there, a rescan brings them back), or -less often- becomes totally numb. Obviously the drive and/or adapter are responsible for this. LMS with a decent USB drive or network mount works perfectly. I know this, but LMS didn't made it clear to me at all. In fact it took me a little while to understand what was going on. So I'm not sure there is something that can be done about it, but if a dedicated log channel could show "gone" files perhaps it could help users understand their storage or link isn't up to snuff? Or maybe a paragraph in the README? It's been a while I didn't read it ;) HTH 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Boombox Time Zone
If you mean a Squeezebox Boom, this one gets its time from the server and has no idea what a time zone is. So: - check system configuration on the machine that runs LMS and see which TZ it uses. It's not a setting on the LMS server. Look at your system configuration for locale and TZ. - If you are using mysqueezebox.com there is a TZ setting there (in Account Settings and in Preferences for each registered player) in and you want to set it to BST too. If your Logitech device has a color TFT screen (Radio, Touch, Duet) then I think there is a TZ setting there too, but I am not sure. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107649 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Once again. When an alarm is playing and its duration is not elapsed, these commands are taken into account and mute the player. Shutdown the Pi (or LMS) before shutting down the network storage device. A NAS is a piece of infrastructure, it is not supposed to go down unless it breaks. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Before I go use the code, can someone tell me about Virtual Libraries with the CLI?
Specifically I would like to be able to de-associate and re-associate a player with a virtual library. I use Squeezy to quite comfortably unsync and re-sync players according to pre-defined groupings. The idea is that individual users may use a player for their own enjoyment after hours but in the morning the system resets to a known, standard setup. I can tell my users to re-assign a player to the appropriate virtual library before lights off, but I would prefer to leave them entire liberty and have the script automatically re-attach players to the virtual library in the morning. Squeezy has a '-json' command, I can pass anything through this. I haven't seen mention of virtual libraries in the CLI doc. Are there specific pragma I can use? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] SB3 can't connect to LMS after changes
Ok, I think what we need is a bit more detail on the PC, namely the OS type and its current network configuration: IP address and routes (copy/paste of "ifconfig" or "ipconfig" and "route -n" or ...) I will make a few generic remarks in the meantime: - You should go with a DHCP server and static lease assignments (based on MAC address). That would be the same as fixed IP, execpt you only have to manage a single node to configure the network. It is simply better. - I expect you've set the wireless "router" in AP mode, so that all wireless SB3s are in the same network as the PC. - Is it possible that the PC runs a local firewall and during the static-dhcp-static config flip/flop, the firewall reset to a standard ruleset that blocks 9000/tcp or 3483/udp + 3483/tcp ? 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. ---- epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105918 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] WOL from remote location
Long story short, in my experience: - openvpn bridged network over 2 sites (and certainly many more) is transparent and works fine if the upstream bandwidth of the site where LMS is located is good enough. - Local service is always better, with or without VPN. I'm using Syncthing with great success to mirror directories. It's a p2p, per folder service. It is absolutely not a backup system, rather the contrary (deletes propagate faster than copies!) So make an offline backup first. - The Pi is a great platform for any of this. I have tested a bridged VPN setup over a local lan, I'm getting transfer speeds in excess of 70 mbps with 25% CPU usage (1 core loaded), it performs just fine. Its bottleneck is IOs, when saving/reading files it'll hover around 30 mpbs rather. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105752 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on different OS Platforms
I don't think "performance" (you could describe what you want to achieve) has much to do with the OS. It does have to do with the platform, but since the server is on the network, bandwidth equalizes much differences. If your mind is not set, I would suggest to go with the largest (or fastest growing) user group.
