I have no experience with this, but sounds like an issue that is Core,
can you try a Firefox 5 briefly and see if it works for you there?

Plus, right clicking the tab bar no longer opens a new tab.

If you mean there is no longer a context-menu for Open new tab when

Workarounds include ctrl+t, right-click on any open tab, the new-tab

The tab-bar issue is relatively minor, and is just a matter of muscle
memory, so hopefully you can figure out a solution.

The thinkpad issue I'd love to try and figure out with you, which is why
I asked about Firefox 5.

Firefox 5 works fine.

  this was intended.

Even so, it's pretty annoying. Particularly as there isn't an easy way
to open a new tab -- moving over to the far left edge is inefficient
and is about as bad as Windows 7 having moved the show desktop button
to the bottom right edge.

I was wrong earlier -- 2.1 does not seem to work. I had to go back to

As for tab launching, is there a technical reason it is gone? Seems

SM 2.2 : Shift Middle-click on link behavior reversed

2011-07-22 Thread OBones
Hello,

I just upgraded from 2.0.14 to 2.2 and now when I middle click on a
link, the tab is opened but not focused, while if I maintain Shift
pressed as I middle click it instantly gives focus to the new tab.
This use to be the opposite in 2.0.14, that is, I had to maintain
Shift pressed if I wanted the tab to be opened but not focused.
How can I get the old behavior back? I went through the options and
could not find anything obvious, nor did anything came up obvious in
about:config

Thanks for your help

Grant, for a long time it was my belief that as SeaMonkey has a browser

then someone here provided a SeaMonkey prefs hack which did allow you to
use any browser you wanted when clicking on a link in the SeaMonkey

As SeaMonkey 2.x browser is supposedly compatible (same add-ons, same

[Linux] Updating 2.0.14 to 2.2 a disaster for the bookmarks.

2011-07-22 Thread Bernard Mercier
Up to now I happily migrated from 1.x.x to 2.0.14 through the proposed update
facility.
When the proposal came to update to 2.2 I was confident to choose to update.

Horror

When 2.2 openend I didn't have my bookmarks any more.

I looked in the forum here and saw an advice to look to try to rename
places.sqlite.corrupt to places.sqlite. I had 2 such files ...corrupt and
...corrupt1.
The places.sqlite and ..corrupt and ..corrupt1 are all 20MB. So supposingly
containing my bookmarks.

After such a rename I still didn't have my bookmarks.
But going in the manage bookmarks, I found the structure of my bookmarks back,
but apparently the urls aren't accesible as clicking on a bookmark doesn't open
the bookmark.

So this is really a disaster.

The files being 20MB I have the feeling the URL's are there, but how can I
access them?

Just adding to that. For what it's worth, I too have lately 'upgraded'

nothing happens - except that I see something like a thin white

the Paste function works perfectly. So it's not the mouse which is at

Upgrading to SM 2.2. causes loss of function in vital accessory

2011-07-22 Thread Ken
I tonight installed SM 2.2. With my browser I have long used an
integrated password,etc.-remembering tool, RoboForm Pro.

Tonight one box that appeared unbidden on my screen was headed
[JavaScript Application]. The first line read, 'The Adapter supports
only seamonkey ver. 2.0 to 2.9.*.'

Something wrong there, no? The latest SM version is 2.2, right? Which
is what I just installed.

The next line read, 'You are using seamonkey ver. rv:5.0'. Huh?

The last line read, 'Click Ok to go to web page that explains how to
install RoboForm Adapter as extension.' Well, I clicked on Ok as
instructed. Result: a blank page.

Near the top of my screen is a RoboForm line which now reads just
'Unsupported browser'.

Further frustration. Looks like I can't go back to SM 2.0.18 (I think
it was) which is what I was using before. The 'Known Issues' note for
SM 2.2 is headed (in bold), 'Data loss warning' and continues: 'If you
use a profile with this or any later version and then try to go back to
SeaMonkey 2.0, SeaMonkey will rename your history file to
places.sqlite.corrupt and create a new places.qlite file, effectively
resetting your browsing history.'

Well, I don't pretend to understand all of that, but it does seem to be
saying that I will lose data if I try to restore the SM version I had
before. No?

Please, any helpful comments?

Thanks - Ken (in Oz)

Unless someone comes up with something niftier, here's a workaround:

Create a third account, with all the settings, filters, sig, etc. of the
first account (make sure filters point to its own folders). Drag and
drop your message folders or contents from the first account to the
third one. Test email sending and retrieval with the new account to be
sure passwords are correct.

When you're satisfied that all is well, delete the first account. You

OK, well that was pretty scary.

After I deleted prefs.js from my profile folder, SM started in the

open the mail/news window, it asked me to create a profile.

Fortunately, when I restored prefs.js from the Recycle Bin, all was well.

Unwanted tab opening from hyperlink in e-mail

2011-07-22 Thread Philip TAYLOR (Webmaster, Ret'd)

Hallo. I have just upgraded to Seamonkey V2.2, and for
the first time, have encountered a change behaviour which
is both unexpected and unwanted. In all previous versions,
clicking on an http: hyperlink in an e-mail message caused a
new browser window to open; now, in V2.2, a new tab opens
instead. I do not use tabs, do not like tabs, but can
find nothing under Edit/Preferences that will allow me
to restore this behaviour to its previous form. I would
be very grateful if someone could advise me how to undo
this unwanted change, short of reverting back to an earlier
version of Seamonkey.

Many thanks in advance :

Try going to Edit/Preferences/Browser/Tabbed Browsing. Uncheck what

Even though this is a browser setting and you are posting about e-mail,

Maybe at least give them a try for a while? If you did, fine. I just
know that change is inevitable. Changes in browsers, OS's, Office
suites, etc bug /me/ sometimes because I'm used to how it worked for so
long. But at some point, you're likely to no longer be able to change

force myself to work with it as is for a couple weeks at least. More
often than not, I find that the new way is then preferable to the old way.

Allow me to briefly address this one point.

Chatzilla, is and has always been considered a part of SeaMonkey. One we
have always shipped with (though made its enabling/installing optional,
but *always* in the installer)

We have made the decision, due to technical hurdles, to ship it always,
the addon manager allows you to remove/disable it at your discretion.
(In early 1.1.x releases, the ONLY way to remove/disable it was the
optional install, and is the only reason we ever had it as an optional
install).

Re: I want my old Seamonkey back

Rob, and others, it's apparently not as easy to go back to an earlier SM
as you think. Here's part of what I posted on another thread:

Looks like I can't go back to SM 2.0.18 (I think it was) which is what
I was using before. The 'Known Issues' note for SM 2.2 is headed (in
bold), 'Data loss warning' and continues: 'If you use a profile with
this or any later version and then try to go back to SeaMonkey 2.0,
SeaMonkey will rename your history file to places.sqlite.corrupt and
create a new places.qlite file, effectively resetting your browsing
history.'

Well, I don't pretend to understand all of that, but it does seem to
be saying that I will lose data if I try to restore the SM version I had
before. No?
