Needless to say, I've reverted to Seamonkey 1.x and all is working again.

Also, needless to say, I'm not willing to do a hard reset on the
master password and lose all my passwords, cookies, etc.

If you weren't prompted for the master password in SeaMonkey 1.x then
you probably weren't using it and you won't lose anything by resetting
it. I say probably because I only know of two uses in SeaMonkey 1.x:

  1. It was used to protect client certificates (e.g. S/MIME personal
 certificates)
  2. There was a preference that could use it to encrypt your
passwords. This preference was disabled by default. See
Preferences - Privacy & Security - Passwords - Encrypting vs.
 Obscuring.

I'm using a Mac.

After installing SeaMonkey 2.0:

- the box requesting my master password kept popping up (I can't recall
setting one by the way)

- boxes popped up for all my email account passwords, after entering
them, I could see my mail, but SeaMonkey was putting up extra Draft,
Sent, etc. folders

Hi,

I'm using Mac and had the same problem.
I just set my master password to '' (empty) and none of my password,

OK. But you seem to be ignoring the fact that I _did_ experience the
issue briefly following my installs:

3. I then installed 2.0rc2, and when it first came up I also could not
enter my MP (including in the Edit|Preferences...). Very odd.

And that suggests to me that it is not only Mac. Perhaps instead of
dismissing my post because I am not using a Mac, it might be better to
suggest a method to trap the issue so that a bug can be filed.

So I'll repeat my question to Phillip: Are you still experiencing this
problem?

yes. each time a new update is installed I've had 2 installed for
several weeks now and whether updated through automatic Updater or by
download and install this happens. Once it run one time then there is no
problem. I'm one of these types that update as soon as an update comes out.

If you are seeing this in dailies rather than the RC version, I understand
better. If you see this in the -RC versions ignore the rest of this.

- it happens once and only once after each update
- everyone in Seamonkey-land is up to their ass in -RC bugs
- there are other issues in dailies, I have a few I'll report when the
  release goes out

Since I went to the RC2build3 version to be more helpful, I haven't seen this in
Linux, it may be new or limited to other OS. When Win7 comes out and I install
in a VM, I'll test.

Ah. So it is the same as when I tested w/Win2KPro. If I have a chance
later today I'll repeat my test on the Win2KPro machine & see if: 1) I
can recreate, and 2) I can possibly trap the occurrence. I'll have to
try to remember how to do that in Windows :-) Thanks for the confirmation.

Phillip,

I hadn't experienced this previously, so on a test VirtualBox install
w/Win2KPro (where I had 1.1.18 and 2.0(multilple versions) working
correctly I:

1. Uninstalled _all_ instances of SM using the standard Windows control
panel method.

2. I then installed 1.1.18 & it brought up my previous profile defaults
(including email) & seems to be working fine.

3. I then installed 2.0rc2, and when it first came up I also could not
enter my MP (including in the Edit|Preferences...). Very odd.

4. I then closed SM (2.0rc2) and reopened and it then allowed me to
enter the MP at the first MP prompt. I closed and restarted SM 2.0rc2
multiple times afterwards and could not reproduce. I also restarted
Win2KPro, brought up SM 2.0rc2 and again could not reproduce.

Are you still experiencing this problem?

Yes each time an update to a new version occurs its dead. Until I cancel
two or three times. Once its opened and Password accepted the first time
each time after that when opened it works, Except if the focus is lost
(say something updates on computer its dead ( what I mean by this I
have a stock widget that updates readings every ten minutes (Yahoo
widgets) if it happens to up date at the same time That will make the
password window go dead and I will have to cancel , bounces back and
becomes active. For Most folks this will not be an issue but on Occasion
I travel with this computer. And I don't want anyone to open up
SeaMonkey but me.
