You forget that in order to produce power we must have relative motion between the rotor and the air. A kiting rotor will give this. An aircraft, all other things being equal, doesn't know whether it's in the jet stream or in still air. We produce forward motion of the aircraft *through the air*

They have diesel fired coolant heaters too. For several hundred dollars you can preheat the car's engine up to near operating temperature before you even turn it over. It should save quite a bit on wear and tear. Of course, when you take off remember to still take it easy as the transmission
