Re: [SWCollect] hypothetical question
Hi Pedro, Assuming it's the type of game I collect (i.e. parser adventure or anything Infocom), I'd eventually want both as I'm big on package variations. Since your scenario states that the game is for collecting and not for playing, I probably wouldn't have a preference on which was obtained first. - Original Message - From: Pedro Quaresma <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 9:26 AM Subject: [SWCollect] hypothetical question > I have this hypothetical question I'd like to present to all of you: > > Imagine game X, made by company Y. > Company Y is from Germany, so X is released in german. RE: [SWCollect] hypothetical question
Epyx released a game called "Axe of Rage"...I don't remember what the game was about, but that could be it. I also have the UK version of Barbarian II...not as good as the orginal overall, but still a very good game. RE: [SWCollect] hypothetical question
Good point on that one Pedro. I have that similar poster from the UK version of Barbarian II stored in plastic...very...nice. :-) Hugh -Original Message- From: Pedro Quaresma [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2001 11:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [SWCollect] hypothetical question Actually, Karl, you were close. It wasn't one of the Amber* RPGs (which I'd love to get, no matter the language!) or the Arkania saga, of which I really prefer the US version because I don't (yet) understand too much of german and I really like the saga. It was actually Legend of Faerghail, which I found both versions for sale, and I know they're both pretty uncommon. Hugh, although Barbarian and Death Sword have _completely_ different boxes, in this specific case I'd say the UK version is the one worth having... you know why. 0:) But because I set a precedent with the Arkania games, I'm a bit inclined towards Jim's opinion. I can't afford to get all versions of all RPGs I find or I'd go broke just with german RPGs that crossed the ocean. Any more opinions? Pedro R. Re: [SWCollect] hypothetical question
Well, I'm guessing it's one of the Amber games or the Schwarzeauge games (can't remember what they called it here in the states, maybe realms of Arkania). Now considering that I'm German, I'm a wee bit biased and woudl buy the German version if I don't have too pay too much for it. From a collection stand point, if both packages are of equal quality (quite a few foreign games get a budget treatment over here... look at the original Pizza Tycoon (originally Pizza Connection)). I'm a purist, go with the original packaging!
