Re: MICROSOFT WORD: HELP PERFORMING THREE TASKS

2018-04-18 Thread David via Talk
The WE App Central still is around. I just checked it out, and things
seemed to work as ever. Only thing is that the developers will no longer
be able to upload any further versions of their products. Meaning, you
get what is there, and when it no longer works, you will have to contact
the developer directly, and see if they happen to have a fix; or ask
here on the list, hopig for someone to know the fix. :)

But the Record Macro, that I mentioned, was developed by GW. Hence, it
will NOT receive any updates, anyway. Likely it won't need any either,
since it only depends on ingernal routines in WE, for performing its
activity. Sure, it can perform activities in all other software, but it
does not interfere with any of the software's basics. So, my guess is,
it will be useful still. And the latest update was uploaded just a year
ago, very shortly before WE went off the scene.

Here is, for your convenience, the direct link for the app:

RE: MICROSOFT WORD: HELP PERFORMING THREE TASKS

2018-04-17 Thread Van Lant, Robin via Talk
The following steps for creating a macro seem pretty straight forward.
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Create-or-run-a-macro-C6B99036-905C-49A6-818A-DFB98B7C3C9C

On my version, the Macros button is the last button on the View ribbon.
Selecting it presents three options including Record Macro, which opens a
dialog box to name the macro and create the keyboard shortcut. As the
instructions above indicate, you have to be sure you set the options to make
the macro available in all new documents, which seems to be the default
setting.

Once you finish the dialog box, you'll go through the steps of typing out that
information you want and centering it. I'd also be sure that at the end you
use Control L to go back to left justified, if that is how you'll want to be
positioned after the macros runs.

When you are done, go back to the View ribbon and to the macro button and now
select the Stop Recording option.

I hastily went through this process a moment ago to see where the stop button
appeared. I must not have done the right thing in assigning a keyboard
shortcut, as the one hastily entered does not work, however, if I go back to
the Macros button and select the first option, which is View macros, I can see
my test macro there and clicking the "Run" button there does, in fact do what I
recorded.

So, give this a whirl and let me know if you still have issues, as I think
your task is pretty straightforward for us to get done.

Robin

Good morning. Sometimes memory does kick in. A number of years ago I
played around with a program called autohotkey. It may very well be
what you want. It's a free open source project which is still being
worked on. Here's the download link for an installer and zip of the
program. The dates are very recent.

Good luck.

2018-04-16 Thread David via Talk
As for the stuff about getting a standard address and such, on all
documents, I too would be interested in any feedback from people who
have dealt with that before.

Though, I do hold, what we here are looking for, would be

How To Create A Template, and Later On Make Use Thereof?

Have not done anything much research on the matter, but probably a
search term like:

How to create a template in MSWord

followed by your version number, thrown into the search field of your
favorite engine, might bring you a tiny step further. If you then found
anything, feel free to share it with us all, and I guess the community
can find a smooth way of working out the solution, by means of a screen
reader.

Don't know if this really was of any help, but thought to at least bring
it to your attention.

If you could find out the keystrokes, and you don't want to mess around
with macros in Word - which I do have a feeling might be more or less
accessible these days - you might want to give heed to an app, found at
WE App Central. I think it's named something like

     Record Macro.

Only tried it very shortly, numerous years ago, so won't know if it is
recommendable for the task of yours. But it might be worth to keep in
your pocket. :)

I don't have time to write everything out on the first two right now, but I can
give you the following on the outlining aspect. As long as you did not disable
automatic number in Word, you can get Word to create the outline for you. Here
is write-up someone recently shared on the JASW or Window Eyes list recently.

Type the first Roman number, then tab once to put in your information and press
enter Most likely, Word will give you II after you press enter. Tab once, and
Word will give you A. Fill in that line and press enter, and you will have B.
Then C. and so on.

When you want another Roman number, press shift+tab, and I believe Word will
fill in the II.
