Lost Default User in Network Priviledges
Dear All I recently started a thread about TB and Simple Mapi which I got sorted (thanks everyone) but that brought to light another problem with user privileges which I thought was down to a problem with the userdept.ini file. (I wish!) It wasn't, and the problem has resurrected itself. It first came to light when trying to send mail from any applications file menu where TB was prompting for User Name and Password. It transpired that one of my accounts was set as a User not Administrator. I can verify now that I did not change the account type as it has done it again. I have *lost* my default account from the Network list and the second account has changed from administrator status to user. I didn't do this, TB has, and its definitely not the userdept.ini file. So now I'm stumped. I guess that there is a registry setting gone awry, but I know not what. I also found a folder called $qrntn$ in my mail folder. This *new* folder contains a messages.tbi and a messages.tbb file. I have moved this folder temporarily to the desktop and it has had no obvious impact on the general function of TB. Can anyone help? -- Best regards Barry Windows 98SE IE 5.5SP2 TB 1.61 Business Edition Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Query with TheBat! - is it possible ?
Hallo! I am receiving about 100 mails by day from script in a web page: my web site is sending a mail with the words that users types in a search box in the page: every time they did not find results I get a mail with the words so that I could add content to my site. Before I'll get Marck warning me against the evils of folder templates, I must say that you'll need a fail safe that private replies won't go list wide. So I made a folder-template that addresses the reply to the same address as the old message was addressed to. This message was created by that folder reply template, I manipulated the address so: %To=%To=%OFromName %OToAddr%- The beauty of this macro is that you can use it for multiple lists, since it duplicates the ToAddress from the old message. Might your filters go berserk and filter personal messages to your list folder, the reply won't be sent to a public list, but to yourself, since you were the original recipient. (Nevertheless, this might cause embarrassing moments when the original message was addressed to multiple persons, but it's hard to protect against everything.) This was the full template I used: == %To=%To=%OFromName %OToAddr%- Hallo %OFromFName%language=AM, %singlere%- %wrapped='On%SETPATTREGEXP=(?m-s)Date\:\s*?((.*?[\d]{4})\s*?([\d]{0,2}\:[\d]{0,2})\s*?(.*))%REGEXPMATCH=%HEADERSGMT (%ODateShort, %OTime +0100GMT, where I live), you wrote:' %CURSOR%- %QuoteStyle=I%Quotes%- -- Groetjes, %FromFName == Hope this helps -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Hello Darren, Okay you offered. Yes, I offered if something was not completely clear, not if you run into problems. ;-) I get Mailtraq to download the news messages fine, I can see them in both the subscriptions and in the user mailbox. OK, so news collection and mail gateway are basically working. I add the account to TB, and collect my news, I get an error that says Server reports error. The response is: -ERR No support library found or library not capable any ideas what went wrong here? I have never seen such an error nor heard about it. That is all correct but you should also have the POP3 - Mailbox Server running. I F don't know how to use quick templates :-(( It's rather easy. You can create quick templates via the menu: Options - Quick Templates - Add What the templates themselves are concerned, just copy and paste them from the website into a quick template: The first template is: =[ Begin wq ]= %COMMENT=%QUOTES%- %QINCLUDE=wrap2 %COMMENT= =[ End wq ]= Copy everything (three linmes) between the two line into a new quick template. You have to name the quick template, but you don't just pick a name, you use the one that's given on the website. After all it says 'Begin wq' and 'End wq', so the name of the quick template is 'wq'. The same applies to the second quick template, called wrap2. As easy as that. Now in stead of using the %quotes macro in your normal templates, you call this recursive set of quick templates, by calling wq. You do that with the macro %qinclude=wq. Replace the %quotes macro in the default template with %qinclude=wq and you're done. As easy as that. Good hunting. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
Free anti-trojan/spyware/adware/virus
A very good *free* anti-trojan/spyware/adware/virus tool is http://spybot.eon.net.au/ Has many languages, frequent database updates, online update system, rollback support to un-do system changes, many industry awards. (Be careful with the registry features.) A similar free program, less capable, but still very good http://www.wilderssecurity.com/spywareblaster.html This one is different. It's a small utility that connects to an online database of known spyware. So you can check files before downloading and installing. It does not scan your system, just provides access to a list of known spyware/adware. http://www.spychecker.com General interest site http://www.spywareinfo.com/ If you decide to use these programs I recommend a small donation to those who ask. Most AV software will not pick up most Trojans. Nor will they often be picked up by firewalls when they are communicating outwardly from your computer. That's why there are Trojan scanners as separate software. I recommend Tauscan from Agnitum (www.agnitum.com). And no, I don't work for them or have any contact other than as a satisfied user of their firewall and soon to be of Tauscan (I'm using the trial) ;-) Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Two issue for convert from Eudora
Greetings: I am making the transition to The Bat! from Eudora, and have two questions. 1. I have multiple accounts: two permanent addresses in the US and one in my current country of residence. For the account I use here (Uzbekistan currently) the reply-to is one of the US accounts. In Eudora, when I wanted to reply to a message, regardless at which address I received it, there is a drop-down list of accounts from which I select the outgoing address. Is there some way to do this in The Bat! or do I need to drag messages to the account from which I want to respond before replying? 2. I have my network administration set to manual connection. However, I had the accounts set to check mail every five minutes, and it then proceeded to do so whether the connection was open or not. Am I overlooking something or is this just a problem on my machine. (W2k.) (I sometimes had this problem in Eudora in the past, but not for the past couple of years.) Thanks for your assistance.
