Re: Customised shortcuts working where they shouldn't.

2005-05-16 Thread Stefan Tanurkov
Hello Allie,

AM Unfortunately, this shortcut works when the editor is in focus. I
AM assigned the shortcut as N, and now in the editor, I can't type 'n'
AM when editing.

This is normal behaviour - it's very much like the previous versions.
The menu of the main window is considered as global and it handles
all keystrokes that were not handled by menus of the currently active
window. Therefore, single-character shortcuts should not be used in
the main window menus, such shortcuts should be defined in pop-up
menus of window panes.

  View - Toolbars - Customise
You only can assign shortcuts to items in toolbars, menu bars and
pop-up menus. However, when your wanted function is lacking in the
proper place, you can add it to any of those. When you don't want to
add a function to a visible place, you can add it to one of the
shortcut containers.

The Bat! v3.5 Final fails to install...

2005-05-16 Thread AJ Blisten
Hi there,

I sincerely hope that you can help me with this one.

I purchased The bat! a while ago - version 3 and something... - and have
updated it regularly (all betas and RC versions...) since then 'til version
3.5 was released.

Something happened (too fast to see exactly what happened...) when I
decided to use the RC 9 .msi file to install THAT version on top og RC8,
which was installed by replacing the thebat.exe file.

It seems obvious that the .msi file removed some files since I didn't find
the uninstall enty in add/remove prgrams or in The Bat's directory...

Well, I tried to install The Bat! again when the final version came out.
What happened again was that the installation process stops and I what pops
up on the screen is the enclosed files
(go here to look at them...:
http://home.tiscali.no/blizzard/Graphics/thebat_1.jpg and
http://home.tiscali.no/blizzard/Graphics/thebat_2.jpg ...

The old version is removed from my computer as far I as I can tell...
I deleted all files in The Bat's directory as well as all references to
The Bat in the registry.

It seems like The Bat setup file (thebat_professional.smi) are searching
for a file to start the uninstall process of the old version. And when the
setup file doesn't find the file it obviously need to start that process
the whole installation process stops!

I don't get it! Why is this happening?

I have a back up of all my mails and setting and all I need now is to
install The Bat! again, which at the moment seems impossible...

Is it possible for you to come up with a solution?

In advance, thank you!

1) It is only greyed out until you select some text

2) You can simply use the View RFC 822 headers in the message view
window and copy from there too

3) You can create filters to export the message and headers for such
reports as seen in the Spamcop submission filters in the Macro /

3.5 Frustration

2005-05-16 Thread Michael Rudnick
I want to register my frustration with the 3.5 upgrade.

All of the shortcuts were lost. I had to recreate the ones that I
had put into the previous version. There was no warning of this.

Some keyboard shortcuts are changed. I used to press CtrlEnter
to put the message in the Outbox. Now that same command sends the
message immediately. Maybe a minor change but an unsettling one.

The customization is nice but a bit daunting. I created a toolbar
and found myself looking everywhere to see the appropriate icons.
It's nice to have choices but it would be nicer to have them
arranged in a manner that made sense to the novice.

One bug (I think). I can't seem to create a toolbar and use the
'Insert item as a child' command. I get an error and am kicked out
of TheBat. Can anyone confirm this or tell me what I'm doing wrong?
(I was trying to duplicate the appearance of the first two Standard
  toolbar buttons.)

None of this is critical. What it does illustrate for me is that
TheBat is a niche product with a loyal following. I can't see it
becoming a mainstream product when things like this occur.

Thanks for listening to my Monday morning rant.

Look in your C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Mail folder (or wherever you
stuck it!), write down the names of the folders for each account
you're missing.

Open TheBat!, create a new account. In the name, put one of the
namesof the account folders you wrote down. From there just keep
clicking next (IIRC) and you'll be good. Do the same for the other
accounts.

 Hello Stephane,

Just came back from work and saw that I forgot this:

Note: This moderator's interjection is a note to all readers and not
just to the person being replied to, even if their post may have
instigated this reply. Please don't feel singled out Stephane.

This posting violated the list rules regarding top posting.

Top posting, i.e., typing all your reply text at the top of your
message and following it with all quoted text below, is not
encouraged and we actually request that you not do so on this list
because

a) It makes it difficult to glean context from what you typed at the
   top of the message

and

b) It encourages excessive quoting.

We would much prefer if you quote just that much of the message to
which you're replying, so we know what it is you're referring to,
and then below the quotation, type your response. If you're
responding to more than one part of the original, then quote each
part separately and follow each part with your response.

Now, I know that you may not personally prefer this format and that
you may disagree with some of the reasoning here. We very much
respect this. However, this is the format that most of the active
members here prefer and all members are expected, and are being
asked to use the format that will make most of the active membership
here comfortable reading. You'll likely get a more responsive group
when you post using a style that is comfortable for them to read and
understand.

To find out why these MOD messages are posted to the list instead of
private mail, please read the welcome message you received when you
subscribed.

Thank you.

Glyphs has black background mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

If I lower the hardware acceleration in
Display Properties / Advanced / Troubleshoot
one step and the black disappears.

Hmm... This looks like it may be a driver issue. What graphics card do
you have? Do you have the latest drivers? If so, try one version
older.

I was thinking the same thing.

I have an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000.

Changing drivers is sadly not possible since Dell provides me with
just these drivers :) (and they are old).

Haven't had any problems like this earlier though, not on this
machine anyway. But I do not really know how they handle the 32bit
images in 3.5 so I cannot really compare this to anything that I
  have coded.

Thanks for responding - MAU's message didn't arrive

MAU:

If there was significant testing of the keyboard
shortcuts, then either the testers missed some obvious
flaws or Ritlabs ignored their suggestions.

Having said that, I'm grateful to both Ritlabs and the
beta testers for attempting to improve the product.

What i was interested in, was, if there any special finetuning
settings within The Bat! to make it work proper with GMX. I used GMX
IMAP before but always had a lot of messages with identical bodies...
