[Texascavers] [Texas Cavers Reunion]

2017-09-11 Thread Don Arburn via Texascavers
"Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you can be crunchy and taste good
with ketchup."

Paradise Canyons gates open after noon this October 12 to the 19th, for the
40th annual Texas Cavers Reunion! Vikings & Barbarians!

Word has been out for some time now, and the time is almost here!

Cavers have been caving and are ready to tell their tales! Let's get together
with our caver family in an awesome setting and enjoy each other's company.
Many new cavers need to be introduced to the old timers & traditions of Texas
Caving!

Contests, T-Shirts, Swimming, Prizes, the great outdoors and a Parade!

$30 for individuals
$15 for old timers (Odin gets in for free)
$15 for kids
$80 for families

Come support and celebrate your Caver family!

The 40th annual Texas Cavers Reunion will be at Paradise Canyon park below
Medina Lake on the beautiful Medina River. There will be the usual revelry!
Rope contests, surveying contests, mud wrestling contests, speleolympic
contests, costume contest, kegs of Shiner & Lobo beer, story telling, swimming,
parade, hot tubbing, door prizes, kayaking, river tubing, slides, sashaying,
mooching, lying, goofing off, horse play, dumbassery, giddiness, hugging,
handshaking, camping, mocking, and general capering about. Come early, on
Thursday for the primo campsites. There are four cabins and an RV, plus RV
spots for rent through Paradise Canyon, please contact them for price and
arrangements.

If you are a Saxon, Viking, Barbarian, caver, spelunker, troglodyte, cave
manager, cave guide, cave owner, cave archeologist, cave lover, cave explorer,
cave diver, cave biologist, cave geologist, cave hydrologist, cave climber,
cave squeezer, cave aficionado, cave critter, or caver supporter, caver
financier, cave surveyor, cave mapper, naked caver, cave gear vendor, long
suffering cave spouse, cave divorcee, cave widow please consider attending. If
you aren't, you will be vetted, someone better vouch for you or we may use you
as a bad example and let the Viking hoards have you.

If you have children or pets, please keep them leashed, clean up after them
(bring your own poo bags). They are welcome but we expect them to be quiet and
well mannered. Poorly mannered children and pets will be handed over to Grendel
for disposal.

Please bring your own utensils for the Big Feed on Saturday night.

Please:
NO GLASS CONTAINERS
in the park. None. If you are a cook, you are not included in this mandate,
unless you go near the river. Also, no driving the vehicles to the lower level
camping areas, the owner has installed rock walls and planters that now prevent
this, sorry.

Please help us keep the park owner happy with us by being conscientious with
trash, the park is open to the public during the rest of the year and bottle
caps, twist ties and other minutea of debris gets left behind. With so many
environmentalists present at once during our event if everyone picked up a few
things the park would SPARKLE, so will the owner's smile!

Create a prize winning, memorable Barbarian or Viking costume! Get on it!!

Que Bueno. The Spring rains have really made the chigger population here in
Deer Corn active and there are monster ticks roaming the bushes once again.
Of course it hasn't rained very much like it has in the east. And my trips
to the west find that the Big Bend is still dry as a bone.

[Texascavers] [Texas Cavers Reunion 2016]

2016-05-28 Thread Don Arburn via Texascavers
It's official, Texas Cavers Reunion has its venue. The water is once again
flowing over the lower retention dam into Paradise Canyon park, and hopefully
will continue to do so through October 13 to October 16, 2016. The corn is tall
there outside of Castroville on the flowing Medina River, actually the water is
currently OVER the retaining walls in Paradise Canyon park. There is now a
playground and a beautiful new restroom and shower facility.

There is a theme for our doo-dah parade too. Several good ideas were put forth
and in the end I required a secret vote from my consultants which ended in a
three way tie requiring me to bring in my heavy hitter tie breaker:
Magical Forest Creatures!
The rains have made the woods and countryside very very happy and green and the
magic is strong now. The gnomes, fairies, trolls and Hodags are proliferating
and putting on their summer coats of algae and mosses and lichens. The
unicorns, Pegasus and griffons were out grazing along the green riverfront
under the sycamores and cypress today. I think I even saw a wampus cat
frolicking with a zoat. Certainly Bigfoot lurks, and I swear I smelled a
skunk-ape.

More information to come, stay tuned

[Texascavers] [Texas Cavers Reunion 2015]

2015-07-22 Thread Don Arburn via Texascavers
Only 85 days left until the 2015 Texas Cavers Reunion at Paradise Canyon below
Medina Lake!

The event begins when I open the park around noon on Thursday, October 15.
Currently there is good water flow at Paradise Canyon and Red has made many
improvements to it and it looks really nice. There should be more portapotties
and ice to sell. Along with the usual activities of swimming, relaxing and
socializing there will be vendors, CaveSim, rope climbing, mud wrestling,
surveying, Speleolympics, door prizes, live music, parading, clowns, flirting,
camping, wine tasting, giggling, slide shows, food, hot tubbing, hammocking,
tubing, fishing, costumes, late nights, early meetings, memberships,
fellowships, napping, cooking, smiling, beverages, clowns, books, stories,
nudity, lies, Aggies, sashaying, laughing, stumbling, beer, hugs, handshakes,
guffaws, breakfast tacos, kissing, well behaved dogs, stupid grins (ok, that's
just me), pointing, registering, planning, discussing, reminiscing, sauna-ing,
friends, photographing, Cavers, dishwashing and hopefully showering.

Like usual, well behaved pets children are welcome, PLEASE be sure to pick up
after them. Fighting dogs or people and thieves will be dealt with harshly, for
our amusement, then banished.

Traditionally the south end of the campground is the quiet end and the dam nude
end is a tad louder. Sadly, the rule still stands about percussion musical
instruments at the hot tub end. The Doo-Dah parade has a Circus theme this
year, and naturally there will be prizes for the favorite costume!

Bring your favorite camp chairs, hammocks, inner tubes, kayaks, bicycles,
bedding, tents, refreshments, snacks, cold beverages, climbing gear and survey
instruments. Don't forget, bring a good attitude and a smile! See you there!

[Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion, October 15-18, 2015, Paradise Canyon

2015-06-11 Thread Ellie Falgout via Texascavers
Behold, Texas Cavers Reunion Circus Spectacular will be held at Paradise
Canyon in Rio Medina, TX on October 15-18, 2015! Experience an
unforgettable weekend with refreshing water, views, food, friends, and
unimaginable fun.

This year’s theme is “Circus Spectacular”. Registration gets you a
wristband for an exciting weekend of camping, the “Big Feed”, beverages and
a chance at door prizes. Bring your own plate, cup and feed tools to get
the food from your plate to your food hole.

All the fun will be there...Speleolympics, survey contest, hot tub,
swimming, awards, parade, carousing, fun and friends. Bring out your best
costume for this year’s circus theme. Don Arburn will serve as Ring Master
and he needs lion tamers, fire throwers, magicians, jugglers, clowns and
any mythical, mysterious creature you can create to make his show complete.

Amazing climbers from around the state will perform their awe inspiring
spectacles of strength in the vertical contests, keen cavers will summon
their mighty surveying powers and adults and children alike will thrill at
the wonder of riding the trolley through the campground.

Hot showers and potable water are available. Musical instruments are
welcome but not at the hot tub. Drums are not welcome. Cameras also aren’t
allowed at the hot tub.

Sunday some intrepid individuals will be making breakfast to raise funds
for the TCMA. TSA and TCMA have open meetings following.

Children and dogs are welcome! They must be well behaved; no biting,
fighting, constant screaming or barking. Pooping on the ground isn’t
encouraged, but if they must, please clean up after them. Pets must be on
leash.

http://cavetexas.org/events/TCR/index.html

Join us for an unforgettable weekend of legendary proportions! Follow the
signs to TCR, 2220 County Road 2615, Rio Medina, TX 78066.

Don and others,
My home is five miles north of Dripping Springs or thirty miles from the
Capitol Building. I have several hundred dry oak and cedar elm logs which are
cut to fireplace size. They need only to be split to the desired thickness to
be the best firewood that money can't buy. I have a very good wheeled gasoline
log splitter. All that is needed are volunteers to come here during the week or
weekend to split all that is needed or wanted. Two or more work best on the
splitter. One or two full size pickup loads are available for those interested
in a get together to do the splitting and I will furnish the beer and soft
drinks. Call or text to schedule.

2013-08-26 Thread Fritz Holt

TCR is coming up fast! As many may know, we have reserved the entire fabulous
park of Paradise Canyon near Medina lake and I am excited! Today I picked up
the door prizes and -man-o-man- some folks are gonna walk away with some cool
stuff!!

There are contests aplenty! Rope climbing, survey, etc. We will have projectors
(slide and digital) so bring your pictures to share. The ubiquitous hot tub
will set up and awaiting to sooth your caving aching muscles. The river is
beautiful and flowing and the grass is green and waiting for your bare toes and
tent pads. The park is bigger and better than ever and there was a rumor that
the owner bought nearly 50 acres across the road for hiking and ridge walking.
There are cabins as well for those who need more civilized accommodations (you
need to contact the park directly and make these arrangements). Bring your well
behaved dogs (clean up after them!), kayaks, canoes and floaties and bikes and
camp chairs. We will have a do-dah parade with a Maya Apocalypse theme, so come
prepared for it and costume contest!

As usual we will have awesome food for those who eat and beer for those who are
thirsty!

If your pet/child is well behaved and well socialized, it is welcome to attend.
If it barks/screams incessantly or starts fights or bites or has mange, please
leave it/them at home. We have had pretty good luck in the past, lets not ruin
it now. No explosions/cannons/rockets/fireworks/dragons, please. Live
chupacabras welcome as are genuine sasquatch. We will be checking.

Cavers, the park loves having us and we want to keep it that way, please clean
up after your pets and pick up any trash you find. The park has always been
impressed by how we leave the park cleaner than before we arrived, lets show
them how environmentally conscious we are.

Here is the breakdown for registration. Adults $25, kids $15, and a cap of $80
for a family (adults and kids). We do what we can to keep TCR affordable. If
you have a financial hardship, feel free to contact me off-list and we can work
something out. Registration will accept cash and checks but not credit cards.
We encourage you to bring cash as it is easiest for us.

Please, come contribute your uniqueness and awesomeness to this annual event!!

Great news about the air-conditioned cabins being available at Paradise

have to bring your own sheets, pillows and towels. Back in the day, that
amount of money would have covered a month of caving in Mexico.

 October 18, 19, 20 21, 2012 is the date.

 Paradise Canyon is the place.

For those who know, it's a great place in south Texas for car camping and
caver camaraderie. The park has grown in size since our last TCR there, the
camping extends all the way to the downstream bridge. There will be
 additional
bathrooms and cabin facilities for those who want to splurge and get A/C and
 a
bed. The rest of us will have very nice campsites down by the Medina River.
The park has improved many of the banks along the river and added more picnic
tables. Paradise Canyon is a wonderful place for our Speleolympics, Hot Tub,
Big Feed, Swimming, Awards, carousing, fun and of course - The Parade!  This
 year's theme:  2012; Mayan Apocalypse!

Prices, Menu, Facebook and other specifics will be forthcoming.

Frank,

Nowhere does it say there is a limit to the # of people that you can
put in the cabin ... the more cavers you can put in one cabin, the
less $$$ per person ;)

caver camaraderie. The park has grown in size since our last TCR there, the
camping extends all the way to the downstream bridge. There will be
additional bathrooms and cabin facilities for those who want to splurge and
get A/C and a bed. The rest of us will have very nice campsites down by the
Medina River. The park has improved many of the banks along the river and
added more picnic tables. Paradise Canyon is a wonderful place for our
Speleolympics, Hot Tub, Big Feed, Swimming, Awards, carousing, fun and of
course - The Parade! This year's theme: 2012; Mayan Apocalypse!

Prices, Menu, Facebook and other specifics will be forthcoming.

Thanks for organizing this Don!
Great news about the air-conditioned cabins being available at Paradise
Canyon, which might persuade my non-caving and non-camping girlfriend to
accompany me this year. However, I see the price for cabins on the Paradise
Canyon website is $155 a night with a two night minimum, plus tax, and you
have to bring your own sheets, pillows and towels. Back in the day, that
amount of money would have covered a month of caving in Mexico.

[Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Registration

2011-10-05 Thread Allan Cobb

Howdy y'all,

It is a little over a week until TCR! It looks like the weather will be
good for the weekend.

Here is the breakdown for registration. Adults $25, kids $15, and a cap
of $80 for a family (adults and kids). I do what I can to keep TCR
affordable. If you have a financial hardship, feel free to contact me
off-list and we can work something out. Registration will accept cash
and checks but not credit cards. We encourage you to bring cash as it
is easiest for us.

TCR has expenses and that is what the registration covers. Last year,
after TCR there was a long discussion on the list about registering.
The bottom line is, if you come to TCR, you are expected to register.
An important part of registration is the liability release to be on the
property. TCR is not in the police business and we will not be going
around and checking for wristbands. Part of the registration fee is
cover those who don't register. The bottom line is that if you don't
register, you are there and everyone else paying for you.

I hope everyone can come on out and enjoy the fun, festivities, and
friendships. TCR has lots of great door prizes and contest prizes. We
have some great contests lined up. You can try your hand at the survey
contest where you can win survey instruments! Win at the rope climbing
contest and you can get rope! We'll have good prizes for the other
contest too!

See y'all there!
Allan

is that if you don't register, you are there and everyone else paying for you.

I hope everyone can come on out and enjoy the fun, festivities, and
friendships. TCR has lots of great door prizes and contest prizes. We have
some great contests lined up. You can try your hand at the survey contest
where you can win survey instruments! Win at the rope climbing contest and you
can get rope! We'll have good prizes for the other contest too!

[Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion!

2011-09-23 Thread Allan B. Cobb
Howdy y’all!

It is only three short weeks until we all converge on Flat Creek near Johnson
City for the 34th Annual Texas Cavers Reunion.

For more information and directions, visit www.oztotl.com/tcr.

We have lots of fun and excitement on tap for the weekend. We have contests
organized and vendors scheduled. We have LOTS of great prizes for the
competitions and door prizes. Everyone who comes out is a winner but some of
the lucky ones will leave with some great prizes!

We’ve gotten a little rain but not nearly enough to alleviate the fire danger
so we ask everyone to be very careful with fire. TCR recommends that every car
have at least one dry chemical fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher should
have an A in its rating.

This year, the Bexar Grotto has decided not to do a fundraising dinner on
Friday night so y’all are on your own on that night. Saturday night we will
have the Big Feed and Stephan and crew are planning some good eats for
everyone. Please bring your own plate, utensils, and a mug. Sunday morning,
from about 8 AM to 10 AM the TCMA will be hosting a fundraising breakfast. We
invite everyone to come and have breakfast while helping TCMA get more caves.

The TSA and TCMA will be having Members Meetings on Sunday morning. The TSA
meeting starts at 8 and will next to where TCMA is offering breakfast so you
can have breakfast and coffee while you hear all the exciting news from the
TSA. Following the TSA meeting is the TCMA meeting at 9AM. You will have a
chance to hear all that TCMA is up to and have a chance to meet the directors.

See y’all there!

[Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion

2010-10-20 Thread Diana Tomchick
Thanks to all who helped with the event, including Roger Moore, who picked up
the Shiner beer that was donated for this year's TCR. Shiner Beer, the Beer of
Texas Cavers!

I like the sound of that.

Now no one needs to feel guilty about not paying for the event beer.

I particularly enjoyed the chance to go for a short mountain bike ride on one
of the Level 4 4x4 roads on the property. I say ride as it was such a steep
route I was pushing the bike as often as I was riding it. I now know that the
wheelbase on my large Tundra is too long for those routes. Our dogs enjoy going
for bike rides with us, and while trying to get a drink of water, they managed
to find the muddiest spot on the property in a creekbed, so they earned a bath
when they got home.

I missed seeing David Locklear show up for the event--I expected to see him
right before/after Saturday night's dinner, but I don't know if he ever made it.

2010-10-20 Thread Linda Palit
Most people pay.

That is a good thing, since we pay for them whether they pay or not.

It would take a lot of volunteers to have people pay at every station and a
lot of money would have to be carried around all the time.

Nice to hear all the different ideas, but things work pretty well and most
people are pretty honest, or I like to believe that about cavers.

Things evolve as access to land and sites evolves.

And it is always such a treat to see so many people.

How do you know they just didn't wear their wrist band. I didn't don mine

plain did not put their wrist bands on at all.

If this is a problem the most surefire way to safeguard against this in the
future would be to charge for dinner at the dinner table, charge for entry
into caver camp at the entry to the Caver Camp, Charge for beer at the beer
table (or sell a wrist band for beer at the beer table and no refills w/o a
wrist band.)

This way you get the money for everyone for everything without insulting
anyone. Event 101.

But the biggest cost is *not* the *food*.

Logistically having two organisations collecting fees *is* a nightmare, and
the fee the park would charge is unlikely the be the same as TCR charges for
the same. I'm not in the least bit involved with the organisation of TCR
(other than the food) but I could easily assume that TCR pays a flat fee to
the landowner which is then amortised over the TCR attendees to keep the
cost *down*; by extension the fee to not eat the Saturday meal at TCR could
be higher than eating it!

I have heard some folks comment that they do not want to pay for food at the
event. Probably why they choose not to pay at all. I would say to let the
park office collect an entrance fee per family before you can enter. Then
have TCR collect an event fee in camp minus the facilities costs.

Maybe a different registration fee for those who can't/don't want to eat
the provided fare: charge a camping only fee (flat fee per family). I
suspect this would be a bo! okkeeping nightmare, but some logistics genius
could figure it out, and TCR would reap a few more pennies to cover the
costs. . just a thought.

RE: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-20 Thread Fritz Holt
OK, charge each individual entering the event a fee based on the cost for
leasing the premises and the portapotties (even if they prefer to go in the
woods). Charge separately for food and drink. I'm sure this is
oversimplification as there are other costs involved that must be shared. Or,
charge a fee for all costs except food and pay for that when you eat. The
problem would be knowing how many would be partaking of the feast. I'm sure the
board or organizers can come up with a satisfactory solution.

Geezer, and fortunate to be.

So far, Carol Belski has been the only one on this list to make a suggestion
that doesn't involve villianizing those that don't want to pay for the food and
beer part of TCR. All other responses have basically been a police type
response that isn't needed or probably wanted at events like TCR. Some people
do want to attend TCR and cannot afford the full price, contrary to what some
others might think. In the long ago past, when TCR was still called Texas Old
Timers Reunion (the original name) people had an option to not have to pay for
food they weren't going to eat. Some people don't want to stand in line for
long periods of time, or do not drink the beer that is provided. There should
be an option for those that want to attend but not partake of those activities.
At events like these, you will always have a few who do not register for some
reason. You may not like that, but it is a fact of any large event like TCR has
become. I personally think there is a better approach than turning yourself
into an impromptu cop, or harboring bad feelings about those that do not
conduct themselves the same way you do. Where is your sense of caver comraderie
or cohesion when you are ready to victimize fellow cavers who don't act the way
you think they should? Maybe some of us should leave our better than thou
attitudes behind when we attend these functions, and just let bygones be
bygones.

Re: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-20 Thread Jay Jorden
On the TCR: A memorable event, as always. Put it in a swamp (we've been
there) and cavers will still find creative ways to have fun. Stefan and a
cast of dozens put on an excellent culinary show. Speleolympics-style
competition, mud wrestling, hot tubbing, tale-swapping and more -- provided
something for everyone. Many wonderful friends showed up to share the
weekend. The vendors delivered quite a few keepers, and the Si(y)phons led
us on a musical march through the big-hair days gone by to rock the house.

On the venue: It was what it was -- a big ol' dry ranch with lots of
dirt/gravel roads. We've seen worse. Allan did what he could. The weather
cooperated. Trees were a plus, the waterless scenery a minus. Oh, I know --
didn't offer an alternative, did I? We have some fine ones to the north --
but too far from the Center of the Caving Universe and its satellites. ...
Wouldn't want to start any jokes about the provinces.

On the dust: a bit of nay-saying here ... My left lung finally started
clearing out last night -- but still coughing it up. I suspect some former
asthmatics out there may have also experienced those familiar,
short-of-breath gasps -- accompanied by what feels like a stabbing backache.
The problem: too much dust of talcum-powder consistency was hanging in the
still air most of the time -- much of it resulting from how we were
outnumbered by the larger offroad crowd driving their Toyota FJs, ATVs, and
other knobby-tired 4x4 vehicles way too fast down the middle of these
unmanaged dirtbike trails.

On the dough: I have mixed emotions. The bottom line is just that for TCR:
it's a make-or-break every year. We can't have folks sneaking onto a
pay-per-visit site. So to prevent that, the options of banquet and
no-banquet could be revived: one price for TCR admission, another for TCR
plus the feed. I recall we did this in the past, with those opting for the
latter choice receiving a food and drink coupon. That said, those who
protest about the Saturday feed during registration should be shamed into
buying it -- it's a great thing!

2010-10-19 Thread Fritz Holt
It is difficult for me to believe that a Texas caver would purposefully cheat
the supporting members of our organizations out of $ 35. to be a part of the
best caving event of the year. I don't understand why every caver is not a
member of TSA and TCMA as the cost is nominal. Some have expressed their
reasons, all of which are lame. Cost is not an issue. If you can purchase
related equipment and gasoline to attend, you can afford the membership fees.
If you arrived after hours and forgot to register later, you can still send a
check to Linda Palit. If you did this on purpose, you do not belong in our
group. Go cheat someone else. I will save this post for next year and Gill and
I will remind everyone to watch for those without a wrist band and ask them why
they don't have one.

It was a great event and thanks again to all who worked to make it possible.

RE: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-19 Thread Stefan Creaser
An essential part of TCR is the big feed on Saturday night; it's an
opportunity for *everyone* to come together and meet their friends, or even new
people, without having to go search them out or attend the same activities they
are.

WRT ...those who can't/don't want to eat... then join up with the cooks and
cook what you can/want to eat that perhaps other people will too!

We, the cooks, *do* make an effort to provide healthy, allergy and lifestyle
aware foods. For instance, 2 of the 3 salad recipes required fish sauce which
is not (according to my veggie contacts) vegetarian, so we substituted. The
*normal* substitute for fish sauce contains wheat but that's not acceptable to
those who need gluten free, so we substituted that. Did you notice... don't
think so! Etc. etc.

The food is not the biggest part of the cost of a TCR but it's the only bit for
which a wristband is checked. It should not be what gates you buying a
wristband or not, that part is just your conscience.

Cheers,
Stefan

Re: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-19 Thread Ron Miller
I have heard some folks comment that they do not want to pay for food at the
event. Probably why they choose not to pay at all. I would say to let the park
office collect an entrance fee per family before you can enter. Then have TCR
collect an event fee in camp minus the facilities costs.

Maybe a different registration fee for those who can't/don't want to eat the
provided fare: charge a camping only fee (flat fee per family). I suspect
this would be a bookkeeping nightmare, but some logistics genius could figure
it
out, and TCR would reap a few more pennies to cover the costs. . just a
thought.

RE: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-19 Thread Stefan Creaser
But the biggest cost is *not* the *food*...

Logistically having two organisations collecting fees *is* a nightmare, and the
fee the park would charge is unlikely the be the same as TCR charges for the
same. I'm not in the least bit involved with the organisation of TCR (other
than the food) but I could easily assume that TCR pays a flat fee to the
landowner which is then amortised over the TCR attendees to keep the cost
*down*; by extension the fee to not eat the Saturday meal at TCR could be
higher than eating it!

Re: [Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion Dust Bowl 2010

2010-10-19 Thread freddie poer
At events like these, you will always have a few who do not register for some
reason. You may not like that, but it is a fact of any large event like TCR has
become. I personally think
there is a better approach than turning yourself into an impromptu cop, or
harboring bad feelings about those that do not conduct themselves the same way
you do. Where is your sense of caver comraderie or cohesion when you are ready
to victimize fellow cavers who don't act the way you think they should? Maybe
some of us should leave our better than thou attitudes behind when we attend
these functions, and just let bygones be bygones.

Dusty?
What dust?
Never noticed a thing.
Too busy laughing with old friends and making new ones.
Had a great time!

Many thanks to Allan and all the other, mostly unsung, heroes who make this
event possible!

  Howdy y'all,

TCR is a great event because it is attended by really great people. Thanks
to all those who came out.

Yes, it was a little dusty. That happens when it doesn't rain for a while.

I did see lots and lots of people having fun and that is the whole point of
  TCR.

I really want to thank the cooks for the great meal, the people who manned
registration, Pete for the hot tub and sauna, the Terminal Syphons for a
rockin' show, the vendors and organizations, and all the people who worked
behind the scenes doing all the things that make TCR happen. Thank you to
  everyone helped.

This year we tried to find the dustiest spot we could, you'll have to come
to TCR next year to see the next big surprise.

  See y'all next year,
  Allan
