It seems to me to be a real problem with a "simple" solution.
I'm not a programmer, but why not "just" activate the same gain
adjustment that exist for internet streaming, for local streaming with
replaygain and local streaming without replaygain ?

Yes, unfortunately that's a major downside to having to depend on the
NAS manufacturer for updates. They generally don't update their firmware
for beta versions of things like LMS.

Now also radio streams are at the same level as my local music, great!

Have a look in the player audio settings. There IS a user defined
variable that can be set beetween -20dB and +20dB, in one dB increments.
The slider as always is a bit more restrictive than the text input field:
using the latter you should be able to enter any decimal number between

Cool! What value did you use?
Someone who uses a service that does include ReplayGain metadata
(Pandora?) should verify that those values are used instead of the
default.
Pandora and Slacker are the only services I know

For my music, most of the replaygain differences is also in the date of

Older music (80's) has no big negative gain, but actual music has up

Streaming content (for me only radio stations) is similar to actual

Keep in mind what mnyb pointed out above: your audio files must have the
appropriate replay gain tags. If they don't, then Smart Gain won't do
anything, as it will have no guide to how the levels should be adjusted.
There are pros and cons to using ReplayGain.
First, to my ear it does a mediocre job of volume leveling. I still use
the volume control to adjust, far more than I would expect.
Another big disadvantage is that if you also listen to streaming radio
or services like MOG, then having ReplayGain

Yeah, I think I filed a request years ago that Squeezebox Server give us
a simple option to enter a constant volume adjustment for all streaming
content. It would at least get it to where both are in the same
ballpark.

I've been a SBT/VBA user for 2.5 years and have never experimented with
Volume Adjustment/Replay Gain. I have had this set to No Volume
Adjustment. Does using Smart Gain or the other settings have any affect
on SQ? What are the pros and cons if any?
Your files must have the corresponding replay gain tags .
It functions by actually adjusting the volume on the squeezebox to a
target volume so everything sours equally loud.
By the nature of most modern recordings , the volume gets lower on
average.
Potentially the sn ratio gets a bit lower
The squeezebox volume operates in 24 bit FYI
