longer then processing most of my requests if the session was already

I'd agree with those people, but from a different angle. If I can't
find a specific answer in the docs through a search engine, the docs are
worthless to me (and I'm far from alone in this). This is why I think
Rocket needs to ditch the logins and make all of the documentation

I don't think it works if the user moves their documents/My documents
anyway so it's probably not the best place to be dropping files. I've
always avoided it unless it's a .net app where I can use
Environment.SpecialFolder.MyDocuments, even then I've only used it once
or twice for unimportant
Have you checked the physical server itself to make sure there are no
resource intensive events around the time it fails? One of our EDI
applications services running in a virtual server will hang when a
backup/hardware intensive event is triggered on the physical server.

A bit late, but why didn't you just use commander (part of the bartender
package)? Commander is designed to handle exported text files -- it
monitors a path and you can setup as many handlers as you want. All you
have to do is map the field # in bartender to the corresponding field in
the data
Just a personal experience with what you're trying to do:
I've actually tried to integrate the Fedex software with our UniVerse
database through ODBC a couple times and every time I've scrapped it
because it's takes way too long to access the shipment record. I've
asked fedex a couple times now
