I concur of the importance of this.
I'm currently working at a school with some laptops here, and am pushing to get
them over to edubuntu.
The wireless network uses among other things MSCHAPv2, and using
wpa_supplicant.conf and such is too much for anyone but me to both comprehend
and manage.

When i've installed dapper in this box the integrated NIC (realtec gigabit) was
not supported.
So i've installed a second PCI NIC (again, a 100Mbit Realtec) and forgot all.

I will set this to confirmed although I cannot reproduce it. I am also

If you look at my patch above, it removes the ubuntu specific patch
07_azureus-themed.dpatch that causes the crash from the patch list.
If just some Ubuntu MOTU developer would have time to try this out, we
would have a fix in the repositories.

Do you have, or have you had, KDE installed? It messes with Gnome's font
settings in ~/.fonts (iirc). If you have that file could you try
removing it and restarting Gnome? The problem is gone on my Feisty
install, including with Abiword.
However, although its a separate issue, I really think this

It's the same for me. The lack of support for EAP phase2 in
NetworkManager prevents me from using it on a daily basis. I use
wpa_supplicant with PAP phase2 auth to connect to my university's
wireless network.
Phase2 support was added to 0.6.5 version of NetworkManager, therefore

Default routes should not have anything to do with what I'm trying to
achieve, I just want to add a network to a routing table via a router. I
tried it out and found that even if I do add a default route it doesn't
make any difference.
