As said before, the issue seems to be due to an incompatibility between
the current ndiswrapper/wpasupplicant and the hardy kernel (2.6.24).
Indeed, on my clean install of hardy it works fine if I'm using the
gutsy kernel (2.6.22), otherwise it doesn't.

Apparently, I was in error with my last comment that by adding myself to
the root group synaptic started to work. Something else I did must have
started it working but I really don't know what. It appears that once it
starts working then it continues to work until I reboot.

It is not an issue anymore. The Evince version bundled with Ubuntu Hardy
Heron (the one I am currently using) does a smooth transition between
pages, so the scroll bars are always controlled by the user. I had
nearly forgotten this, but it has been fixed. You can close it whenever
you wish, nice
I've compiled the latest available ALSA snapshot (1.0.17rc2) and the bug
seems fixed (the audio on my Vostro 1400 works correctly after a suspend
without using any workaround).

Confirmed: more than 2G RAM seems impossible from vanilla Ubuntu 8.04
server install.
I'm using 2.6.24-19-server SMP kernel with Intel VT hardware (and so, kvm). I
defined a VM with more than 2G RAM.
Under virsh :
. define the VM is OK
. start the VM is NOK:
libvir: QEMU error
Everything is good now!
Must have been something on my system (or maybe even the PDF), but it

firefox 3 beta 5 closes when attempting to login in hotmail
Hi,
After my computer hangs, I can not do anything with my computer
(Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, etc does not work at all). I attached the
Xorg.0.log I got right after I rebooted my machine. I think I am using
intel driver but the xorg.conf just says Configured Video Device in
the Device section. And

just had to tell you about a lucky escape for me to this catch
22...fortunately, this whole debian install was originally mirrored from an
iomega 160GB ext drive so I just examined the dpkg directories with
#find / -name dpkgand took a guess that the /var/lib/dpkg/
alternatives/
Sebastien/Pedro, I can duplicate from a hardy live cd. The steps I
listed above should be sufficient to duplicate, although make sure you
have 'group windows' disabled, otherwise you have to open 7 distinct
applications rather than 7 copies of (say) gnome-terminal.
