Okay, I've updated the machine - it's current. I've plugged in the Wacom tablet and let it sit for 5 hours. The machine did, indeed freeze, but here's what I did: The tablet did not function. `lsmod` shows a wacom module running, so I'm assuming I don't have to rebuild the kernel to get this

Okay. HA! I've been running the live CD trying to figure out what conditions made Hardy (8.04) freeze. This won't give you the log - it FREEZES, then the log disappears on reboot. I'll reinstall Hardy and do this again. In any case, this is what I've been up to. Booted from the Hardy live

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wacom-tools I had initially not used the tablet when running Gutsy. Loaded Hardy via the upgrade path. Then because of the Wacom problem and others, downloaded Gutsy (7.10) and did a fresh install. Currently running Gutsy (7.10). Gutsy, clean
