I can't actually find euca_admin in any of the eucalyptus packages...
not sure if I'm a complete idiot or if it's just not there.
In any case, there seem to be bug reports scattered around that are all
variations on failing to access/import something from euca_admin.

And I think this should be critical because I'm betting its got a quick
fix and because it causes a major problem if you are trying to convert
people:
insert live cd... hums along. Then everything dies. Then they'll REALLY
want to install Ubuntu, lol.

So going back over this, and after trying out the disk on multiple dorm-
mates comps, I have come to the conclusion that there are 2 separate
bugs here:
People who get a flashing black cursor in the top left (possibly not waiting
long enough for system to load?)
and people who have ALL displays
Workaround: getting to console:
OK. I tried that. (suggestion of removing splash from boot line.) GDM monitor
died, but it did let me get into consoles on the other x-windows, which didn't
work with splash in the line. I checked out the xorg.conf, and it set the

Yeah, using this method you can change your display driver for the live
CD to vesa, and then reload gdm, which will run, though somewhat slowly
(IMO). It checked out.
So pretty much at boot screen, you hit f6 or whichever button brings up
custom boot line.

When I did mine, that happened (showed login on 1 before flipping to
screen 7, which blanked), but I was able to flip from black screen back
to console on screen 1, but only with the splash command removed. With
splash command, all screens were bad. However, I have PCIE graphics.

So I changed the driver back to ati as originally was, added
option monitor layout LVDS,CRT
and the driver now works... sort of.
the resolution is now something horrible like 600x480 according to screen res
prefs (to me it looks a little bit higher, maybe 800x600. Perhaps
antialiasing?)
And I am not sure of the reason for safe graphics mode not working. I
will look into that next.

When setting up software RAID with the ubuntu 8.10 installer, no option
is given for chunk size and when building a RAID 5 array, defaults to 64
kilobyte. A much better default choice would be 256k or 512k. There
should either be an option for chunk size in the installer, or
of the issue now.

I have nvidia graphics, but they're running on the 'open' driver off the live
usb.
I do not have ECC memory, and if my bios allows it to be enabled it's
hidden somewhere in the depths of menus I don't understand.

I'm of the camp that asks if Mozilla can force ubuntu do display and
EULA, then pretty soon every too big for its britches free software
project is going to try and make you click past a stupid EULA screen
when you launch. There goes one of the prime reasons to use linux/ubuntu
over other non-free
so I'm back on ubuntu alpha, this time from live CD image via USB key and the
issue is gone.
I think it's because on the alternate install image I chose USA ACER
Eurosign 5 (€) whereas with the live cd image I just chose USA Eurosign 5 (€)

I just ran into this bug on intrepid alpha 6.
Funny thing is that gltron was working properly and now all of a sudden keys
don't work, go to change keys, quits on trying to configure keys.
Quits a few times trying to configure keys, then works again only keys have now
been reset to defaults.

I am having this issue on intrepid alpha. It seems to be why wireless is
erratic. Often times connection speed of 1-6 Mb/s and much slower
performance. Should be connecting at much higher speeds.

already known bugs, so I'll be ignoring it for now.

I have the same problem on a system I upgraded to edgy from dapper.
I have a turion 64, but it is the 32-bit Ubuntu.
Filed I different bug report because I hadn't seen this one.

Sorry for this being kinda off topic, but does anybody who has a working
edgy install not have access to their consoles? tty[1-6] from the crtl-
alt-f[1-6] command? I got edgy working in the main x-window, but the
consoles look like colorful randomized garbage, and once I switch to one

Also, the prescribed workaround of editing out DRI doesn't change the
fact that the ctr-alt-f[1-6] consoles are gibberish. It seemed to make
it so the I didn't have to relaunch X on trying to return from a
gibberish console, but the console was still

On my machine removing usplash let me get to the consoles, but it still doesn't
transfer back to the x-session correctly.
(I have to relaunch x on returning to the x session window because it only
shows my mouse.)
