This option also works on my HP dv1240us. It took me ages to track down this
option.

Adding the line:
options snd-intel8x0 ac97_quirk=7
to /etc/modprobe.d/options emables the LED on my Mute button.
With the options set, the button lights up and correctly toggles its state.
Can we please have this option added
To be honest, I'm not sure I will be able to help. As I said earlier, it
is a flatmates laptop, and the odds of him letting me put gutsy on it
before release would tend towards nil.

Confirming bug. Keyboard layout used on the machine is: fr oss (⇒

I noticed that two volume icons were displayed in my gnome-panel. I
right-clicked on each one. One of them only showed Mute and Sounds
I think this is likely more important than it's current medium
importance - it renders my eeepc 901 virtually unusable - because
everything is set to be so small on the screen, the touchpad needs to be
responsive, and whatever driver is used in place of the correct one
results in very jerky

newer version of the synaptics driver, 0.99.1 and above. There's a
package available for debian here (http://alioth.debian.org/~dsalt-
This is a deb package of a newer driver - installing this deb restores
two finger scrolling and removes that jerkiness I spoke of. The version
number I've kept the same as the current in Jaunty's archives so any
subsequent Jaunty updates will supercede this. This is only an interim
fix though.

Yes, It has been fixed now on hardy.
