[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1971479] Re: ADT failure to apply buildfix on Bionic (390.147-0ubuntu0.18.04.1)
Since we don't build i386 for lrm, I have released bionic as this issue isn't related to the kernel release. But when testing I did find that this issue can still be reproduced and leads to a build failure. I tested this with 4.15.0-176 in a i386 VM and could reproduce the failure to apply the buildfix which seems to lead to a build failure. ** Attachment added: "nvidia_file_2.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1971479/+attachment/5588603/+files/nvidia_file_2.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971479 Title: ADT failure to apply buildfix on Bionic (390.147-0ubuntu0.18.04.1) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1971479/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1843201] Re: Unity in Wayland prompts for keyboard focus on each run of ssh-askpass-gnome
Thanks for looking into this, and the pointer. I guess, another option would be to not request shortcut inhibition, unless I'm misunderstanding its value? Unless there's a worry that some other application will be able to steal your password this way — it doesn't seem obviously warranted to me. For example, `ssh-askpass-fullscreen` does not generate this prompt. It isn't clear to me that the fullscreen-ness of this implementation materially changes the risk profile, so either shortcut inhibition isn't useful, or I should file a bug against `ssh-askpass-fullscreen` to either request this privilege or document the gap. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to wayland in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1843201 Title: Unity in Wayland prompts for keyboard focus on each run of ssh- askpass-gnome To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop/+bug/1843201/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] Re: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop
So I built a kernel from the Upstream LTS (4.17.3) and tried to apply the patch, which failed. So I removed it and tried a clean build and was able to get Xenial to boot up with this kernel. I then decided to install Bionic and install this kernel on my laptop however, I noticed that when I downloaded the latest version (as of July 2, 2018) the laptop display worked. I checked and I am running Bionic with the 4.15.0-24 kernel. I then installed the NVIDIA proprietary drivers and low and behold the laptop is working. (I had to modify my grub to include nouveau.modeset=0 since after logging in the display would hang, but after passing the kernel parameter everything worked out of the box.) This is quite amazing! I'm going to check out the ChangeLog to see what patches you have running on this. For the most part, things are working normally. I did notice if I try to go to the TTY1 or TTY2, I get the GNOME login Screen on TTY1 and my normal desktop on TTY2, but TTY3-6 are standard terminals. The brightness control keys still do not work, but the touchpad works so far from initial testing (Haven't tried the 5 finger test on it yet, but 4 fingers works) and the hibernate issue when the lid closes seems to be fixed since I was able to resume when I opened the laptop and pressed space bar to turn it back on. I will continue to test, but we may have a winner winner chicken dinner for this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] Re: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop
So I patched the 4.15.0-15-generic kernel from kernel.ubuntu.com with the supplied patch and then intstalled the kernel on my 16.04 xenail laptop and everything works as it should. The display came up, the touch pad is responsive and working normally. I have enclosed my dumps of lswh, lspci, lsmod and my cmdline output. How I installed this: I build a bionic container on my laptop: lxc launch ubuntu-daily:bionic kernel lxc file push spth-pinctrl-fix.diff kernel/root/ lxc exec kernel bash apt update && apt upgrade -y apt build-dep linux-image-`uname -r` apt install fakeroot git clone git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-bionic.git cd ubuntu-bionic cp ../spth-pinctrl-fix.diff . patch -p1 < spth-pintctrl-fix.diff fakeroot debian/rules clean fakeroot debian/rules binary-headers binary-generic binary-perarch After the build and the output of the deb files: exit mkdir ~/kernel-test cd ~/kernel-test lxc file pull kernel/root/linux-image-4.15.0-15-generic_4.15.0-15.16_amd64.deb . lxc file pull kernel/root/linux-image-extra-4.15.0-15-generic_4.15.0-15.16_amd64.deb . lxc file pull kernel/root/linux-headers-4.15.0-15_4.15.0-15.16_all.deb . lxc file pull kernel/root/linux-headers-4.15.0-15-generic_4.15.0-15.16_amd64.deb . Also, the linux-headers-4.15.0-15 deb depends on libssl1.1, which is default in Bionic, but not in Xenial, so I had to download that deb file from here: https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/libssl1.1 And then I just used dpkg -i to install the files and reboot the laptop and it started up properly. While the laptop display works and the touchpad is responsive and works properly. there are still issues with the FN+F7/F8 brightness controls, and the other FN options that should work out of the box, but at least the display works with the 4.15.0-15 kernel ** Attachment added: "logs.tar.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1761261/+attachment/5125965/+files/logs.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761261 Title: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/1761261/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] Re: nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop
It could be a backlight issue. I tried with the latest daily-build (April 16, 2018) and I boot up with the nouveau.modeset=0 kernel param and it shows the splash screen, and then I hear the login sound, and if I turn off the lights in my office and look closely, I can see the display, but it looks like the backlight for the screen is not lit. I have noticed the same thing. I am running on 16.04 with the HWE 17.10 kernel and monitor works. I installed the bionic 4.14.0-17 kernel and I was able to still use the laptop display. I tried the latest Bionic kernel (4.15.0-13) and it does not work. During testing on another bug (LP:1738263) I tested Artful with the Bionic kernel 4.15.0-10 and everything appeared to be working normally with the exception that DKMS failed to build the NVIDIA modules due to not being compatible with the the header files. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1752053] Re: nvidia-390 fails to boot graphical display
I have an Asus ROG GL703VD and have a similar issue. The display shows the ROG display, then flashes purple for a second (Grub menu splash before the Ubuntu splash logo, which doesn't display on the laptop, but does on the HDMI display) then goes blank and never comes online. Even pressing CTRL+ALT+F1-6 does not switch between virtual terminals on the laptop display, it does shift on the mirrored HDMI display. The only way to get a display is to hook up a monitor to the HDMI port and then logging in and setting the display to mirror mode. In fact, this is the only way to install Bionic on the device as even booting the install media with nouveau blacklisted doesn't work. In previous releases, running nouveau.modeset=0 would bring up the display properly and then you could install, but with Bionic, this is does not work. Also, installing the Bionic kernel in Xenial or Artful creates the same condition for those releases. I have looked at the logs and settings everywhere, and from what I can tell everything appears to be loading properly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761261] [NEW] nouveau/nvidia drivers do not work with display in Bionic on Asus GL703VD Laptop
Public bug reported: Tried to install Bionic Desktop on my Asus GL703VD ROG Laptop with NVIDIA GTX 1050M Video Card (with i915 Intel graphics card when not using 3D) and the installer does not display. I have tried nouveau.modeset=0 and nomodeset boot options to no avail. I was able to finally install Bionic by hooking up the laptop to a projector, but after a reboot, the laptop display still did not work and I had to set the account to autologin otherwise I could not loging to the laptop. I then install openssh-server so that I could ssh into the laptop and I installed the nvidia-390 drivers from ppa:graphic-drivers/ppa which installed, but still no local display. In Artful, I could install with the nouveau.modeset=0 and then installing the proprietary NVIDIA drivers and everything (except touchpad, LP: 1738263) worked. lspci shows the graphics card and NVIDIA card, and lsmod does show that before NVIDIA drivers install, it is using nouveau, asus_wmi, and i915 for graphcis, and once NVIDIA drivers are install, lsmod only shows i915 and asus_wmi for graphics while nvidia is used for gpu and 3D, but still no display on the laptop. lsmod_prenvidia.txt shows the nouveau driver and the /proc/cmdline lsmod_nvidia.txt shows nvidia drivers installed and the /proc/cmdline lspci.txt shows the detected hardware lshw.txt shows the hardware in the laptop. Please let me know if you need any other information. I just updated my 14.04 install to 3.16.0-37-generic. And although the occurrence of rendering issues seems to have reduced, they are still there. To reproduce easily, open up google earth, do some zooming around in there, then start doing some alt-tab and moving windows around. You can see the rendering issues show up pretty quickly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update
I have the same problem as sohel, where the original issue is fixed but my external monitor is not detected by Nvidia Prime. I created a question here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/550750/nvidia-prime-does-not-detect- external-vga-monitor-after-updating-ubuntu-drivers but there are no answers. I have held `ubuntu-drivers-common` at version 0.2.91.5, which allows me to use the external monitor, but it causes other problems. Before this issue occurred, my setup was working fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1365695] Re: No longer able to use GUI after update
Thank you everyone who helped to fix, or develop a workaround, for this issue. That is awesome. I still have a hold on my ubuntu-drivers-common and nvidia-common packages, and I am wondering whether it is safe to remove these holds. I have a question detailing this situation here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/521354/multiple-monitors-and-nvidia- optimus-not-working-after-apt-get-update It seems that this bug is not entirely fixed, although there is a workaround available, so I am wondering whether it is safe to update my packages. Sorry if I have not understood the status on this bug, but an explanation or suggestions to help me follow future bugs would be greatly appreciated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365695 Title: No longer able to use GUI after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates/+bug/1365695/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1319835] Re: please enable opencl
GIMP may not be on the installer, but it's in repo and can use OpenCL. If Ubuntu compiles Mesa without OpenCL support, that means using OpenCL requires switching to the Oibaf PPA version or to Xorg-edgers. That, in turn, forces users other than hackers to use these PPA's, which are meant for people like myself familiar with system administration. Unless someone wants to start a mesa-stable PPA like the kdenlive- stable (sunab) PPA, I see a lot of headaches coming from this decision. Not compiling in support is quite different than simply not including a library that can be brought in from the main repos. I can only see one valid reason to disable something like OpenCL or VDPAU: if there is at least one videocard anywhere for which enabling them will generate a black screen, a refusal to modeset, or at least a refusal to run 3d graphics. Is this the case with OpenCL? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1319835 Title: please enable opencl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1319835/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] Re: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15
Yes, it can be. As of now performance has totally and completely recovered. Most of it was the SDL changes that were so helpful in DRI3 X servers, and a few other optimizations seem to have come down the pike. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] Re: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15
This bug was finally resolved with updates to sdl, used by all the games I saw it in. When I first changed repos to move to Utopic Unicorn, a new SDL package returned both Critter and Scorched3d to full performance. Then another update reverted some change, and performance fell right back to where it had been. Finally a 3ed update fixed it again, hopefully for good. libsdl1.2debian_1.2.15-8ubuntu2_amd64.deb brought the original fix libsdl1.2debian_1.2.15-9ubuntu1_amd64.deb rolled it back libsdl1.2debian_1.2.15-9ubuntu2_amd64.deb fixed it for good, had this changelog entry: libsdl1.2 (1.2.15-9ubuntu2) utopic; urgency=medium * Restore accidentally-clobbered changes from 1.2.15-8ubuntu2. [ Timo Jyrinki ] * debian/patches/sdl-check-for-SDL_VIDEO_X11_BACKINGSTORE.patch: - Restore old backingstore behavior to prevent tearing (LP: #1280665) Had to revert HUNDREDS of packages one at a time to find this! Any kind of anti-tearing behavior can be resource intensive, I've never had tearing problems in games with r600 but do need to use vsync with video players. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1293314 Title: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1293314/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1310784] [NEW] Workspace animation incorrect with multiple monitors at different resolutions
Public bug reported: There is an issue where the workspace animation zooms to/from the wrong monitor when using multiple monitors at different screen resolutions. This does not happen when the resolutions are the same. Slowing down the animation with compizmanager makes the inaccurate zoom animation more apparent. I've attached 2 screenshots which will help visualise the problem. At the same resolutions, zooming is correct. At different resolutions, zooming flies in/out on both monitors for the left section only, then cuts to the right section on the right monitor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] Re: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15
Updates from 3/17 Xorg benchmarking: On 3-17-2014, I updated X to the latest Trusty packages (xserver-xorg- core=xserver-xorg-core_2%3a1.15.0-1ubuntu7_amd64.deb) and retested. The Critter benchmark may not be of any great importance as it is a 2d game in Opengl that runs very fast, but the regression is on the order of a 49% drop in framerate. This is absolutely repeatable (on two different machines) by leaving only one opponent on the screens and intentionally permitting all shields to be destroyed. The Scorched3d benchmark gave inconsistant results. With the previous X server, I was getting 50-70fps, with the new version I sometimes got 25-35fps, but sometimes got right back to the 50-70fps range, though the highest speeds did not appear as often as with the older version of X. Scorched3d can be a bit difficult to benchmark as which map appears cannot be controlled. In February I got nearly unplayable results in Scorched3d (11-25fps), though some of that was a since-resolved hardware issue and some was the hyper-Z issue with the first versions of Mesa 10.2 installed at that time. No change at all in Critter on Radeon, don't know if these results will translate into regressions on openGL loads I do not have or not. On my Intel Atom netbook, by comparsion, Critter is barely playable due to dropped frames. When the new xserver came out, it was worse, I remember just over 60fps but with worse framedropping than ever. Now about 110 fps on the netbook with fewer dropped frames. My conclusion is that some progress might be being made somewhere, but I don't know what changes in what package are helping if any.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] Re: Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15
Further tests with today's Mesa 10.2 (3-17-2014) Getting hard to reliably benchmark Scorched3d due to varying loads, but seemed to run a little faster than earlier test today. Still a bit inconsistant with some screens showing 25-30fps, but more of the screens now at 50-70, and saw 70fps a bit more. Critter was interesting: little change in MAXIMUM framerate, but minimum framerate is now at 75% of maximum, with few drops below 300fps from 360, wich is 83% of minimim. Used to be maximum of 690fps with big drops under load to about (sometimes below) 400fps-all faster than now but much less steady with minumum at 55% or less of maximum. Again, this is not much of a benchmark due to high framerates on a 2d game, but still interesting. It now seems to me that driver work in Mesa for dri3 may be killing this bug one leg at a time.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293314] [NEW] Severe performance regression with xserver 1.15
Public bug reported: With Xserver 1.15, OpenGL performance in all games is reduced by almost half, at least with both Radeon/r600g driver Not sure which actual package has the issue. As long a hyper-z is explicitly enabled, mesa version 10.2 (from oibaf PPA) does not change this regression. With hyper-z disabled (the new default) another 10-20% reduction in performance resulted after an approximately 40% loss from the new x server. Critter still ran faster than the screen refresh rate, so it was not a matter of vblank sync being enabled due to any effect of the dri3 transition on an unchanged ~/.drirc . I am still wondering, however, if the DRI3 transition is the source of this severe performance loss. Package tested: xserver-xorg-core_2%3a1.15.0-1ubuntu6_amd64.deb Is the version of xserver-xorg-core tested against the last 1.14 version I have back to back with same mesa and kernel versions. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise
I have not experienced any particular problems with Ubuntu or Ubuntu 2D using this driver. However, I have experienced two issues which cause a minor concern for me. If I scroll quickly enough, I have a diagonal 'line' which runs on my monitor from its northwest to its southeast corner. It's not really a line per se, rather the illusion of a line, as it appears that one half of the screen is refreshing before the other half. I am assuming for now that this is more to do with my refresh rate, but I must say that I did not experience this on the same computer two months ago when I was running Windows XP. Additionally, on shutdown I no longer see an account of the computer's final processes in the terminal, or whatever was previously displayed. Instead, I get a distorted image of my desktop background (which is currently set to rotate through the default desktops). Aside from this however, it does appear that the card is functioning correctly, and applications which used to drag due to graphic content (i.e, Software Center) are now quite visibly faster and more responsive. I'm currently at work and away from the computer I'm using Ubuntu on, and I'd like to provide more comprehensive details if they are warranted. Please advise. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/948053/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1021517] Re: Xorg-server crashes reproducible with GIMP usage
I can confirm that the crash depends on the fn-f8 combo to activate/disable the touchpad. The interesting thing is that it doesnt matter if the touchpad is actually active or not. If I disable/enable the touchpad via terminal [synclient touchpadoff=1/0] it doesnt crash as long as the touchpad isn't deactivated via fn-f8. I'm usually using the trackpoint so i didnt notice this behaviour before. Steps to reproduce: 1) activate the touchpad via fn-f8 2) create a new image in gimp and try out some tools - no crash happens [ 3) deactivate touchpad via terminal - no crash ] 4) deactivate the touchpad via fn-f8 and click on the gimp workspace - xserver crashes instantly (reactivating the touchpad via terminal before pressing fn-f8 doesnt change the result) Some further tests: 1) Deactivating the touchpad in the bios: a) only trackpoint - no crash (pressing fn-f8 has obviously no effect as no touchpad is active) b) trackpoint and a simple external mouse - same as above 2) Deactivating the trackpoint in the bios: a) only touchpad - obviuosly can't click on the gimp workspace if the touchpad is disabled, so no way to tell b) touchpad and external mouse - crash once you follow the steps described above. 3) Using external mouse, trackpoint and trackpad - crash if you click with mouse or trackpoint once the touchpad is deactivated using fn-f8 Well, it really seems to be related to the touchpad or rather it's deactivation using the keycombo. As a workaround, you can simply activate your touchpad via fn-f8 and keep it on, deactivate it via teminal or diable it in the bios of your laptop. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1021517 Title: Xorg-server crashes reproducible with GIMP usage To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gimp/+bug/1021517/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994203] Re: Xorg freeze with Nouveau drivers
I switched to the ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver, and I got just the same - freeze when using LibreOfficer writer (this time when selecting text). So perhaps this in an xorg bug, not just the nouveau drivers, or perhaps the same bug is in both drivers. Can we move this to High importance? In addition to the reasons described before, I for one am in the position where I have no alternative - the other drivers give the same result, and I cannot use LibreOffice for typically more than a few minutes without a full freeze that basically requires a reboot to fix. This is a very high impact bug! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994203] Re: Xorg freeze with Nouveau drivers
Is there any chance of increasing the importance of this bug? This bug is the equivalent of BSOD (all your running apps have to be terminated), and it's happening to me multiple times a day. I can barely use LibreOffice at all, as it usually causes a freeze within a few minutes of use. It's happening 'randomly' at other times too. Based on the criteria for High importance here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance ...I'd classify this as severe impact on a small portion of Ubuntu users, and it affects an essential hardware component. I would say it also fits Renders essential features or functionality of the application or dependencies broken or ineffective, as it means I basically can't scroll in any LibreOffice application. So I'd say it fulfils 2-3 of the criteria on that list, and only one is needed. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968845] Re: bcm5974 touchpad doesn't work after S3 on MacBookAir
Chase, I did both to confirm. The test I use is the network manager's connect to hidden network and then the dropdown to select previously connected to hidden networks. First boot it works just fine with clicking the trackpad as well as tapping. After suspend, clicking always acts as a double click (effectively opening and closing the dropdown very quickly) and tapping works just fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994203] Re: Xorg freeze with Nouveau drivers
I'm getting this quite regularly with LibreOffice when scrolling using the scroll wheel. It has happened twice in Writer, within an hour, and just now in Calc within a few minutes of opening it. The whole interface freezes and does not respond to anything, but the mouse still moves. I can still switch to a VT and run commands from there. Restarting lightdm restores the system without a reboot. I can't find anything in the logs that seems relevant, unfortunately - looked in dmesg, kernlog, syslog, ~/.xsession-errors Please let me know if there are commands I can run from a VT to help debug this, as not being able to use LibreOffice without risking this is a real killer for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994203 Title: Xorg freeze with Nouveau drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/994203/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have confirmed that saving the snippet in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ retains the calibration over reboots, as expected. lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 xinput-calibrator: Installed: 0.7.5-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 0.7.5-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 0.7.5-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/ubuntu/ubuntu/ natty/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status --- Example output below --- Calibrating EVDEV driver for ITM Inc USB Touch Panel id=10 current calibration values (from XInput): min_x=124, max_x=3944 and min_y=119, max_y=3900 Doing dynamic recalibration: Setting new calibration data: 98, 3917, 161, 3859 -- Making the calibration permanent -- copy the snippet below into '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf' Section InputClass Identifier calibration MatchProductITM Inc USB Touch Panel Option Calibration 98 3917 161 3859 EndSection ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: xinput-calibrator 0.7.5-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic-pae 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic-pae i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Wed May 4 16:19:31 2011 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release i386 (20101008.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xinput-calibrator UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to natty on 2011-05-04 (0 days ago) ** Affects: xinput-calibrator (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xinput-calibrator in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776946 Title: xinput_calibrator shows incorrect path for xorg.conf.d ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 747717] Re: Blank screens have more than two windows open, wrong behavior in some applications.
This bug affects me as well. Looks like maybe a compiz/video card driver memory issue because when I have too many windows open, opening more windows causes the newly opened windows to be blank white. Resizing the windows to be smaller can sometimes allow the window content to render. lspci: 00:05.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51 [GeForce 6150 LE] (rev a2) NVIDIA Driver Version: 270.30 (185) ** Summary changed: - Blank screens have more than two windows open, wrong behavior in some applications. + 11.04 - opening too many windows causes new windows to render blank white -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747717 Title: 11.04 - opening too many windows causes new windows to render blank white ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 688276] [NEW] Touchpad functions but not recognized so can't modify it's settings
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse The touchpad works but is too sensitive, so I want to disable the tap to click feature. However, it doesn't seem to be detected by the system, because under Systems-Preferences there is nothing for the touchpad, nor is there a tab or options for it under System-Preferences-Mouse. I tried adding these lines to xorg.conf, based on what I found online, to disable the tap to click. But it had no effect: Section InputDevice Identifier Synaptics Touchpad Driver synaptics Option SendCoreEvents true Option Device /dev/psaux Option Protocol auto-dev Option MaxTapTime 0 EndSection The machine is Dell Latitude E6510.
