so I have access to a range of gear. Those measurements were taken from
a EDMI Mk7 electricity meter. Sadly it's a "whole current/direct
connect" meter designed for measuring bigger currents (100A). But it
does a fair job down

You could just sync the players and have visualisations from the pi

I agree Jeff, my comments come from a week or so back someone was asking
for wifi rescanning due to the pi not seeing his phones hotspot if the
hotspot wasnt active when the pi was booted.
Maybe we need to have two SD cards and go sneakernet style and swap

Not sure if it matters, but I put it to sleep when I went out earlier by
hitting the power button on the touch screen (Jivelite)
Eiffel, use the 'save to USB' in the pCP setup page to save a 'good
setup' and just boot your next pi with same pCP version on it to have an
identical machine (setup)

Synology NAS's support LMS out of the box, no crazy command line stuff
required. I have DS413j Synology box, its slightly underpowered as a LMS
box if you have it doing anything else.
If you're happy to get your hands dirty, I can recommend XPenology and
Freenas. Both require a small amount of

You could try Max2Play or just vanilla Raspbian and see how you go. Its
a learning experience that's worth your time.

Would/will you keep LMS on the synology ? If you intend to have the Pi
hosting the LMS, then its going to be worth it, just for library
rebuilds and playlist activities.

the local LMS just had a blank no player found area. i tried a reboot
but no players found. Once I killed the NAS LMS, it popped up...
I'll restart the NAS LMS and see what happens on reboot (after this
song. radio paradise 320k stream is great)
I thought a usb3 stick would still work,
Pi drive is just a small usb drive with a handy cable. The cable can be
bought separately too, if you wanted to add a larger amount of storage.

On Topic - even though my display isnt in a case at this moment, the
layout is the same as the pic that Eyerex posted. Mine's definately an
early version of the display, ordered the day they were announced :) and
it doesnt have dimming of the backlight, just on/off :(

Initially I thought the price was on the high side. But, Its a high
quality case, the machining of the bamboo is 1st class. The package is
great too, even down to the screwdriver
For me, on WiFi, 3.10 is taking right on 20 seconds to start playing

jivelite works fine from the hdmi output.
there is a thread here about "slimmer" it uses pCP with buttons and a
16x2 LCD.
now i have no idea on the how to bits, but if slimmer can use buttons
and flicr replicates buttons, what your looking for must be easily
doable ??

Are they playing synchronised to the SB Touch ?
I find some weirdness that's hard to replicate consistantly, but seems
to occur if i make the Touch the 'master'. if i start a stream or
playlist on one of the Pi's and then sync the Touch to them, it appears
to be fairly seamless ..

The dot matrix clock may look alright on a telly ?? Certainly will be a
case of personal taste though

everyday
I have several 2.06 ( i think one is still 2.04 or.05 ) on my network
via wifi, and they all play for hours/days with a real Touch in the mix.

I can add I'm now hearing that 'effect' first hand Paul. Over the last
six or seven hours I have let LMS play uninterrupted, and now I have
around 1.5 seconds delay between the fastest (Touch) and the slowest
(Pi's) players
No mixed samples, all the music has been 224k cbr 44.1 MP3's.

Hey feeder6, pCP can force a gpio on or off when the player is running
So can the LED be driven by using one of the GPIO pins?

Pi2 B+ with a IQaudio DAC+ tried to load the "audio" kernal and the Pi
wont boot, dropped the normal edition on and up and running. Sounds
great to my cloth ears :)
Next weekend, I'll try another download of the audio version and burn to
see if that helps ?

to have a pi3 (or other NAS/server) as a LMS and a netboot master of
everything ?

I dont understand, I have two hifi berry hat's, one digi+ one dac+, both
work fine with rPi3 built in wifi

Hi M H, yes i've seen those extenders. Also the way some of the cases
mount the Pi and Hats away from the LCD display etc look good (but
expensive)
I thought (for my situation) a network solution would be best as it
means there is one single location/folder/NAS/LUN/TFTP server to put an
image in
I think Paul is correct, sounds like the disks are hibernating. A couple
of things to try out;
In synology's web page interface go to
-control panel / HDD hibernation-
try unticking the options for disk hibernate and also the "DS will enter
standyby via WOL after the internal disk ...etc etc"

is it possible to implement a "phone home" in the beta, and have it dump
pCP version
Pi type
dac/audio out
wifi type/model
wifi sig strength
etc
etc
user may be prompted to add a few comments. 100 char max or something
eg. slow to boot. playing everything except BBC iplayer
it might be a way

my pi3 doesnt like the higher channel numbers.
12-14 definately out. 6 is crowded but seems to be stable.
can you see any networks around you normally?
