[ovirt-users] Can't add disks at all

2017-11-09 Thread Neil
Hi guys,

I've got a strange one.

I'm running ovirt 3.5.x with NFS storage from two NAS's

All my VM's are running fine, however if I try to add a new disk, I click
OK and nothing happens. Nothing is logged in the ovirt logs or the vdsm
logs either.

I've tried different browsers, I've tried tried changing the disk type etc,
but no matter what, I click the OK button to add the disk, and the button
shows it's been clicked, but the page just sits there, eventually after
waiting 5-10 minutes I have to click cancel.

Nothing is logged under tasks, etc in the ovirt GUI too.

I have tried restarting my ovirt engine completely. My engine logging is
working as I do see logs when I click around in my ovirt GUI.

One of my storage domains is 100% full(400MB free), and I get a warning
about this in the event logs, however the domain I'm trying to add it from
isn't the full one.

Any ideas where I can start looking?

Thank you.

Regards.

Neil Wilson.

You could try passing through a USB Keyboard and mouse if you have spare USB
ports and see if those repond.

You should be able to view the VNC/Spice Viewer and use the USB Keyboard/mouse
to control it.

You do need to stop the VMs and restart them, not just issue a reboot. I havn’t
tried under 4.2 yet, but it works in 4.1.6 that way for me.

Re: [ovirt-users] Fixed ovirt-node-ng packages

2017-11-09 Thread FERNANDO FREDIANI

Thanks Lev.

In fact the bug wasn't network related so probably nothing to do to what
I could observe.

I didn't open a bug because I wasnte sure if it was oVirt issue or not
and was trying to confirm. The only relation was that after the reboot
of one of the nodes everything in the whole platform (including other
VMs running on other hosts). I will double check and if I can gather
enough details I will send it to a new bug report.

Thanks so far.

Coincidently or not today I had a major issue in our node related

from a node and rebooted it. It seems this network issue was
happening on all hosts not only this rebooted.

If it shows in fdisk -l, you should be able to mount it (after formatting
of course). Add it to fstab if you want it to happen automatically

You attach such disks to multiple VMs at the same time, and use a clustered
FS to mitigate access and locking.

[ovirt-users] How to mount/use a shareable disk

2017-11-09 Thread Jayme Fall
I’m playing around with shared disks in ovirt to allow a couple of vm’s to
access the same data. I created a new disk that is shareable and attached it
to one of my CentOS vms but I don’t understand how to actually make use of the
shared disk. It does not show up as a mounted disk on the Centos VM. How do I
actually use this shared disk from within my VM, or am I mis-understanding its
purpose?

Thanks!

What do you mean by that? What error message do you get?
Can you ssh from the engine machine to this address manually?
If not, first solve this, then try again to add it.
Perhaps it's the firewall blocking or something like that.

Hi,

I solved the problem with following steps:-

# nano /etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/11-setup-sso.conf
   Change:SSO_ALTERNATE_ENGINE_FQDNS=""
To:
SSO_ALTERNATE_ENGINE_FQDNS="192.168.8.8" (ovirtengine IP)

# systemctl restart ovirt-engine.service
Now I can remote login ovirtengine on Host's browser
running:http://ovirtengine.example.com
On ovirtengine$ cat /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4
::1 localhost localhost.localdomain localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

192.168.8.8  ovirtengine.example.com
192.168.8.5  ovirtnode.example.com
[/end]
Now I encounter another problem in "Add oVirt Node (ovirtnode.example) to ovirt
engine from Web Administrator Portal", failure to add new host "ovirt node".
To connect/login "ovirt node" on Host I must run;192.168.8.5:9090
Adding 192.168.8.5 to the new host, "ovirt node" can't be connected.  But I'm
not allowed adding "192.168.8.5:9090" to Address there.
Please advise is there any solution to delete ":9090"?
Thanks
RegardsSL

[ovirt-users] Fixed ovirt-node-ng packages

2017-11-09 Thread Lev Veyde
Unfortunately shortly after the oVirt 4.1.7 release we discovered a
critical issue with ovirt-node-ng.

The issue was promptly handled, and fixed packages were pushed into the
repo.
Also the ovirt-node-ng-installer ISO was rebuilt.

Please make sure to update your repo and use the fixed
ovirt-node-ng-installer ISO:

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine installation + GlusterFS cluster

2017-11-09 Thread Artem Tambovskiy
One more thing is - firewall rules.

For 3 gluster bricks I have configured following:
firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-port=24007-24009/tcp

Hello!
I'm new(-ish) to oVirt and have a question regarding network.

I currently use vmware, the hosts have 4 nic each and connected to two
switches in stack(extreme), i have two vSwitch with two nic each setup in
active/standby, with this i don't have to do anything with the physical
switch.

So how do i do this setup on oVirt so i don't need to configure the
switches?
I know how to bond the cards, but i am afraid of a switchloop, so i just
want to make sure that does not happen.

Re: [ovirt-users] can't migrate Windows 2012R2 VM

Hi Arsene,

i have to apologize, your hint to the QXL driver was right.
after searching in the wrong places for most of the time i finally
looked into the logs of the hypervisor host and found

libvirtError: internal error: unable to execute QEMU command 'migrate':
qxl: guest bug: command not in ram bar

which led me to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1446147

you can't use

in windows 2012, but when uninstalling the Red Hat QXL driver completely
the VM is finally able to migrate

Windows 2008 and Windows 2016 VMs can be migrated with no problem.

Indeed, see the other thread.

If this isn't enough, please provide more details - the name you provided
as engine FQDN during engine-setup, whether you fixed name resolution -
by updating the dns or the hosts file, etc.

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine installation + GlusterFS cluster

2017-11-09 Thread Fred Rolland
Hi,

The steps for this kind of setup are described in [1].
However it seems you have already succeeded in installing, so maybe you
need some additional steps [2]
Did you add a storage domain that will act as Master Domain? It is needed,
then the initial Storage Domain should be imported automatically.

Re: [ovirt-users] glusterFS is not independent?

2017-11-09 Thread Johan Bernhardsson
Gluster would be to overcomplicate this if you only want local storage
on both to be reachable over the network.
Simplest way is to setup an nf server on both nodes and create a
storage domain for each.
Gluster is a way to secure your data and replicate them over several
nodes. so that if one node goes down or explodes you always have the
data replicated to other nodes. Running a single brick gluster volume
is not recomended.

Re: [ovirt-users] glusterFS is not independent?

2017-11-09 Thread Johan Bernhardsson
For it to work you need to have the bricks in replicate. Of brick on
each server.
If you only have two nodes. The quoum will be to low so it will set the
gluster to failsafe mode until the other brick comes online.
For it to work properly you need three nodes with one brick or two
nodes and a third node acting as an arbiter.

[ovirt-users] glusterFS is not independent?

2017-11-09 Thread Jon bae
Hello,
I'm very new to oVirt and glusterFS, so maybe I got something wrong...

I have the oVirt engine installed on a separate server and I have also two
physical nodes. On every node I configure glusterFS, the volume is in
distribution mode and have only one brick, from is one node. Both volumes I
also add to its own storage domain.

The idea was, that both storage domains are independent from each other,
that I can turn of one node and only turn it on, when I need it.

But now I have the problem, that when I turn of on node, both storage
domains goes down. and the volume shows the the brick is not available.

Is there a way to fix this?

[ovirt-users] Hosted Engine installation + GlusterFS cluster

2017-11-09 Thread Artem Tambovskiy
Another yet attempt to get a help on hosted-engine deployment with
glusterfs cluster.
I already spend a day trying to get bring such a setup to work with no
luck.

The hosted engine being successfully deployed but I can't activate the
host, the storage domain for the host is missing and I can't even add it.
So either something went wrong during deployment or my glusterfs cluster
doesn't configured properly.

That are the prerequisites for this?

- glusterfs cluster of 3 nodes with replica 3 volume
- Any specific volume configs?
- how many volumes should I prepare for hosted engine deployment?

Any other thoughts?

Artem

Hi,

We are testing the KVM for first time.

RHEV-M Host: Version 4.1.6.2-1.el7.centos
RHEV-H Node: ovirt-node-ng-installer-ovirt-4.1-2017102306

Noteboook
OS: Windows 10
Broswer: Chrome / Firefox
Viewer: virt-viewer-x64-6.0

After installing the above and setup DC, Domain Storage/ISO, Host and install a
test linux centos 7 VM.

Installation goes find. It was able to boot up after install.

We face the issue where by the console screen mouse just get hang and keyboard
is not responding.

Our setting for console is as below:
Graphics Protocol: SPICE
Video Type: QXL

We tried other setting as well, however the console mouse and keyboard is not
working.

Any idea?

Best Regards

Anyone can help? Thanks!

Re: [ovirt-users] Enabling libgfapi disk access with oVirt 4.2

2017-11-09 Thread Alessandro De Salvo

Hi again,

OK, tried to stop all the vms, except the engine, set engine-config -s
LibgfApiSupported=true (for 4.2 only) and restarted the engine.

When I tried restarting the VMs they are still not using gfapi, so it
does not seem to help.

Cheers,

Alessandro

I’ll try restarting the engine. Is it really needed to stop all the

it, but for production clusters in the future it may be a problem.

Thanks,

Hi ,

The procedure to enable gfapi is below.

1) stop all the vms running
2) Enable gfapi via UI or using engine-config command
3) Restart ovirt-engine service
4) start the vms.

Hope you have not missed any !!

Thanks

Hi,

I'm using the latest 4.2 beta release and want to try the gfapi
access, but I'm currently failing to use it.

My test setup has an external glusterfs cluster v3.12, not
managed by oVirt.

The compatibility flag is correctly showing gfapi should be
enabled with 4.2:

# engine-config -g LibgfApiSupported
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 3.6
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.0
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.1
LibgfApiSupported: true version: 4.2

The data center and cluster have the 4.2 compatibility flags as well.

However, when starting a VM with a disk on gluster I can still
see the disk is mounted via fuse.

Any clue of what I'm still missing?

Thanks,
