please do that.
It't that the peaple beحing SOGo gets aware that there are many
problems using SOGo in a mixed environment (active sync / CalDAV).

We are using Outlook 2013 (active sync) and Thunderbird (CalDAV)
facing a lot of problems when it comes to repeating events with
exceptions.

Handling of exceptions of a rercurring event ist generally problematic
with SOGo 3.x. We are using Thunderbird clients (CalDAV) and Outlook
clients (ActiveSync). It's a nightmare.

It was time to solve the problems with recurring events and ActiveSync.

A better communication would have been necessary. In my perception
there has not been a statement like "we know that there are problems
with ActiveSync and exceptions of recurring events. Please be patient,
we are working on it".

Just my $0.02.

any hints how I can get it synced with Thunderbird?
I don't see the address book I created for collected addresses in
Thunderbird. Trying to subscribe just offers address books of other
users.

The usual "personal address book" is visable and gets synced with SOGo
web interface.

[SOGo] free busy information

2017-07-05 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

if a MS-Outlook user subscribes an other user's calendar from the web
interface the setting "include in free/busy" is preselected.
That's what the users here don't expect. Events in a subscribed
calendar keeps blocking available time slots in the user's calender
who subscribed it.

Is there a way to change this from "opt out" to "opt in"? E.g. it's
unset when subscribing the calendar?

How can we reset the option in all user's subscriptions (batch,
script, whatever)?

Btw: What *exactly* is the intended effect of "include in free/busy"?

If I got it right user1 has to use user2's calendar to add events on
behalf of user2?

> What other behaviour do you need on top of that?

We just tried it:
user1 added an event into user2's calendar --> saved.
The event is added to user2's calender -- good.
user2 is shown as organisator, there are no more attendees. o.k.
It's not visable that user1 did the planning. Not what we expected.

We thought that user2 is the only attendee and user1 is organisator.

If user1 later tries to add herself to the event the change of the
event on the server is denied ("The entry as been changed on the
server recently. Transfer of the changes will overwrite the changes
made on the server". I hope I managed to translate the german error
message back to English). It's not possible to change the event
accordingly.

It seems to be impossible that user1 add herself to this event. If she
does in Thunderbird, before saving the entry user1 is organisator and
has added her successfully as attendee. Afer saving the event user1
disappears as attendee and user2 becomes organizer.

Goal is:
user1 adds events on behalf of user2 and can optionally add herself as
attendee.

sogo-tool manage-acl
manage-acl get|add|remove owner folder user

addadd ACL information of folder for user

It's a user who has 2 computers with Outlook connected through
ActiveSync to sogo 3.2.7.
On both PCs he adds/deletes/changes events.
Problem is that on both computers different events are missing/remains
unchanged. For short: The clients are not really in sync.

What to do to get it fixed?

As I wrote in my other mail there was in fact a problem with open
database connections.

But the problem that I cannot save events (new or while changing
them) from within the web interface remains.

Meanwhile I found out that max # of connections of the mysql server
exhausted. SOGo processes requested more than 150 database
connections. I increased the limit to 250 (never had to do that in the
last 10 years of working with MySQL). During the last few hours we did
not see more than about 60 open connections. Will keep an eye on that.

Calender entries are not writable from the web interface. From
Thunderbird or Outlook it works (mostly). From time to time
Thunderbird complains:

[SOGo] reminders and ActiveSync

2017-02-27 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

we are using SOGo (3.2.7) with Outlook 2013 as client connected by
ActiveSync.

Users are using the web interface of SOGo to subscribe other
calendars with "settings --> synchronize (Microsoft Enterprise ActiveSync)"

They are complaining about receiving reminders from subscribed
calendars. How can we avoid receiving those reminders, but still
maintaining getting reminders by the user's calendar?

Might be not a SOGo problem but I suppose a lot of subcribers are
using SOGo with Outlook ActiveSync. Therefore I hope to get help with
this.

Thank you in advance.

We never noticed any problems with email synchronization.

Contacts are not tested well here as contacts are managed by a
commercial CRM.
We have had problems with events where participiants are mixed Outlook
and Thunderbird clients. Thunderbird sync works as expected but
Outlook had a bunch of problems:

* Events disappeared after confirming the invitation.
* Resources did not confirm automatically in a reliable way.
* The participation state are not fully visable to the organisator of
  events.

You may imagine that this way SOGo does not work as an enterprise
calendar.

SOGo development (Ludowic Marcotte) did work hard on solving these
issues. With nightly ...3.2.5.20170118-1 he made a huge step forward.
Our somewhat complex test scanario worked without errors.

Let's hope (let's assume) that it's solved now and SOGo serves as
reliable calendar backend for as well Outlook, Thunderbird and other
CalDAV clients out there.

we are running dovecot as IMAP server, exim as mail hub and SMTP
server, LDAP as auth storage.

So far everything works as expected -- with Thunderbird as mail and
calendar client. In a mixed world with Outlook 2013 (ActiveSync),
Thunderbird and SOGo Web Access it's currently pain in the ass.
Inverse is working on it but our users are loosing their patience.

As far as we have found out the problem is Outlook and Microsoft's
loose interpretation of standards. But that does not help us if users
insist on using Outlook.

[SOGo] calendar: Assistant functionality

2016-11-15 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

we need a setup covering assistant function for appointment planning.
It's one assistant working for three persons (P1, P2, P3).

She/he should be able:

* to schedule appointments for any of the three persons,

* to schedule appointments for herself.

All in different calendars.

If she enters an appointment for, let's say, P1, the details should
look as P1 herself had done that work. Assistant *may* be visable as
"assistant" eg. scheduled by for .

They are using MS-Outlook 2013 connected with ActiveSync and
Thunderbird connected with CalDAV. Server is SOGo 3.2.1.

What is nescessary to get that scenario working? I am pretty shure
that there must be a way.

Hello,

we have scheduled an recurring event in MS-Outlook with the pattern:

Every 3 months on the 4th tuesday.

Thunderbird shows the event as recurring but with "Repeat details
unknown". If I enter such an event in Thunderbird it works.

Are there problems processing recurring events (with a conplex
pattern)?

[SOGo] Calendar: confidential entries?

2016-11-07 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

we noticed a problem re. visibility of schedules marked
"confidential".
In the web interface everything is o.k., the entry is marked
"confidential" and cannot be opened.

But in Thunderbird (CalDAV) or Outlook 2013 (ActiveSync) the event is
fully visible like "public". The event details within Thunderbird
shows privacy setting as "only show date and time".

What's going wrong here? SOGo 3.2.1.

[SOGo] double invitations

2016-10-21 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

when an Outlook user invites others to an appointment the invitation
is sent twice with slightly different subject.

One mail is interpreted as invitiation, the other is interpreted as
schedule, the subject has a prefix "Invitation: ".
The invitation works as expected.

What's going wrong here?

Outlook is connected with active sync to SOGo 3.2.

We created test user "rko" while SOGoEASDebugEnabled has been set to YES.

Part of sogo.log is attached. For the test delimiter in dovecot.log
has been set to "Public/" The name of the public folder is
/Public/name/archiv/2005.

there is nothing like that displayed.

Perhaps dovecot configuration is problem?
The relevant parts from dovecot.conf are:

| namespace public {
| prefix = "Public/"
| location =
maildir:/var/dovecot/shared_maildir:CONTROL=/var/dovecot/shared_control/%u:INDEX=/var/dovecot/shared_index/%u

I'll do that as soon as I see the cached folders.
How do I config folder caching in Active Sync? Perhaps I missed
something.

the version is 3.2.0.

see attached png.
The folders are organized hirarchical:

Public
  shared
testlist
  archiv

In sogo web interface they are presented as hirachical folders.

Prefix has been "#". To make the folders visable I changed it to
"Public".

But if I use "Public", Outlook seems to hang displaying "waiting for server
response.." (translated from German to English).
Status is displayed as "CONNECTED".

[SOGo] shared IMAP folders

Hello,

we are using SOGo to provide email and calendar functionality to
Clients using Outlook 2013.

The SOGo server uses our central IMAP server. How can we provide users
with our public shared IMAP folders on the central server?

In Outlook (active sync) I don't see the shared mailboxes.

What's wrong with Outlook integration (Active Sync)? Maybe we did

[SOGo] Permissons on resources

2016-08-22 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

we are planning some resources (meeting rooms) with SOGo 3.1.5. To coordinate
resource usage the resource calendars can be subscribed by our users.

Unfortunately in Outlook 2013 (ActiveSync) there is no information about
subject and organisator of the schedule planned for the resource. In the web
interface and in Thunderbird (CalDAV) all information is visable in the
subscribed resource calendar.

What is wrong here?

unfortunately it's not working.
I updated sogo to 3.1.5. The web interface reports "Conflict", but in
Lightning it's possible to enter the schedule without visable error
message.

The detailled error message in 3.1.4 has been better help for finding
out, what's wrong.

Thank you, it worked. Must have overlooked that in the documentation.
In the web interface I get a clear error message. But CalDAV
(Thunderbird) just shows the already booked time slots. It is possible
to overbook the resource.

[SOGo] multiple bookings of resources

2016-08-12 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

we are using SOGo to book resources (e.g. conference rooms).
Unfortunately multiple bookings (same date and time) are accepted.

We are using web interface, Thunderbird and Outlook 2013 (Active Sync).
SOGo version is 3.1.4.

We configured the resources according to the instructions found in the
wiki: http://wiki.sogo.nu/ResourceConfiguration

The LDAP entry, we added in the accounts branch (where SOGo users are
stored):

dn: uid=conference,ou=resources,dc=,dc=
businesscategory: internal
cn: Conference Room One
displayname: Conference Room One
kind: location
mail: conf...@domain.tld
multiplebookings: 1
o: Organization Name
objectclass: inetOrgPerson
objectclass: top
objectclass: CalendarResource
objectclass: calEntry
objectclass: organizationalPerson
objectclass: person
objectclass: posixAccount
sn: Conference Room One
uid: confone

What's missing here?

btw: What is expected in "multiplebookings"? Is it the number of
bookings allowed for that resource? Or is it "0/1" for "multiple bookings
forbidden/allowed"?

[SOGo] ActiveSync: free busy permissions

2016-07-22 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hello,

quoting ID 0003749 from the bug tracking system:

We have an issue where Outlook 2013 with ActiveSync does not show
Free/Busy information.

SOGoCalendarDefaultRoles is set to (PublicViewer,
ConfidentialDAndTViewer) in sogo.conf but this does only apply to the
roles for authorized users.

Outlook via ActiveSync seems to use an unauthenticated connection to
query the free/busy information.

When we set appropriate permissions for "Public Access" (with
SOGoEnablePublicAccess = YES) then Outlook can show Free/Busy info.

Is it possible to set these permissions as default for new users?

Perhaps someone here can bring light into the darkness.

we are using SOGo with LDAP address book. When synchronizing this

[SOGo] WOWorkersCount

2016-07-18 Thread Ralf Cirksena
Hi,

I am somewhat confused re. "WOWorkersCount" / "PREFORK".

If I set PREFORK = 3 in /etc/default/sogo with WOWorkersCount = 60 in
sogo.conf just 3 children of sogod are started. That remains on this
number even if users begin to use sogod. The only result is lng
time waiting for synchronization.

If I set PREFORK higher (10) then performance remains o.k. until all
workers are busy. Workers don't increase above PREFORK thus never
reaches a value near WOWorkersCount.

Something is wrong. Clarification needed. ;-)

Outlook 2013 (ActiveSync) does not send an authentication to the
server. Therefore the server handles such free/busy requests as coming
from "public". The server answers if "public" has at least permission
to date/time of the requested user.

Is that really the problem? There must be a way for the server to
find out who requests free/busy information. And yes, that must be
handled server-side.

Fully agree. Why doesn't Inverse fix that? It should not be rocket

MS-Outlook seems to handle that correct client-side. But leaking data

The others, who should not see the details of confidential entries,

"Others" was the other admin. :-/

Really "others" (normal users) can just see time/date.

[SOGo] Exception when trying to add resource to appointment

2016-06-14 Thread Ralf Cirksena
SOGo 3.1.2

We added resources to the LDAP server following the docs at
http://wiki.sogo.nu/ResourceConfiguration

When trying to add one of these resources to an appointment "Proxy
Error" is displayed on the client's screen.

In /var/log/sogo/sogo.log an EXCEPTION is reported:

| EXCEPTION: NAME:NSInvalidArgumentException
REASON:Can not determine type information for -[GSArrayEnumerator
copyWithZone:] INFO:(null)
| Jun 14 13:05:10 sogod [7335]: <0x0x7f69a23e4710[WOWatchDogChild]> child 7902

| Jun 14 13:05:10 sogod [7335]: <0x0x7f69a2128d10[WOWatchDog]> child spawned
with pid 8042

What's the reason? How can we solve that?

Thank you and greetings

Thank you for the information. I hope we are able to start now.

O.k., conclusion is:

If I plan to use Outlook 2013, Android, iOS with calendar sync, group
calendars, resource calendars, ActiveSync will be enough. No need for
OpenChange (or Samba >= 4,1,18),

Is that right?

Sorry, I am new to these things like ActiveSync and Outlook/Exchange.

To work with SOGo I need:
* SOGo ;-)
* LDAP for authentication (just for authentication?)
* Database (mysql or postgres)
* A mail server providing SMTP and IMAP

something else?
