Re: [vdr] vdradmin recording description

2011-01-12 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi Tony,

setting the summary for timers has been dropped in VDRAdmin-AM years
ago, simply because that was also dropped in VDR. It's readonly now so
that one can see what plugins/tools (epgsearch...) add to a timer's
AUX field.

Best regards,
Andreas

2011/1/11 Tony Houghton h...@realh.co.uk:
When setting a timer with vdradmin the popup includes a box which is
supposed to contain the programme description. This used to work, but
hasn't worked for me, literally for years. I've just ignored it until
now, but it would be something nice to have back now I can be bothered
 to mention it. Any ideas?

 Jose Alberto Reguero wrote:

There is still the problem with es_ES.utf8 and es_ES.UTF8. I think that the

With version 3.6.6 the *.utf8 locales shouldn't be required at all. The
charset encoding is handled by gettext.

Unfortunately the old and obsolete utf8 locales have found their way
into the VDRAdmin-AM archive and can (should?) be deleted.

I even tried the 3.6.4-1 from debian testing and still the pages have
 this in the head section:

  meta http-equiv=content-type content=text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1

My system default locale is en_US.UTF-8
 # cat /etc/default/locale
 LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Only switching to something like de_DE.UTF-8 seems to fix the problem.
Seems like gettext('ISO-8859-1') is not the best way of handling
 encodings after all.

Anyway, isn't it time to make a move towards a default UTF-8?

 cheers
 -henrik

PS: I'm not subscribed to vdr or vdradmin-am. So please CC me.

In my case the problem is that the directory where the UTF8 locale is stored
 is:

 /usr/share/locale/es_ES.utf8/

 if I change to:

 /usr/share/locale/es_ES.UTF8

 All work ok.

Re: [vdr] Plugin compiler arguments / Make.config

2009-10-28 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi!

Sorry for digging out that old posting, but for my plugin I ran into
that problem too.

I wonder why no other plugin authors shared there opinion and how they
fix it. As I understand it every plugin must be changed whenever VDR
introduces changes in that area and if the VDR compiling user doesn't
use (and adopt) Make.config. IIRC we already had that when
introducing the -fPIC option. So I think that the current system isn't
a clean one.

So what do you think? Klaus?

2009/7/10 Frank Schmirler v...@schmirler.de:
 Hi there,

since vdr-1.7.3, VDR is compiled with the additional arguments
 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE
Plugins should be compiled with the same arguments as otherwise one might get
unresolved symbols when loading the plugin. Consistently, in vdr-1.7.4 these
defines have been added to the plugin part of Make.config.template. But that
won't fix anything for the people who don't use a Make.config at all (those
who do, need to check if something has changed in the template when updating).
How could this problem be solved conveniently?

I'd opt for copying Make.config.template to Make.config if no Make.config
exists yet. A good place to do this would be in make include-dir. The
documentation and UPDATE files should remind those who copy Make.config from
an older release to fit in necessary changes.

 Other options:
 * Additional file to include by VDR and plugin Makefiles with such mandatory
defines - this somewhat contradicts the idea of Make.config.

I opt for this one.

Regards,
Andreas

 * In the Makefile of each affected plugin, check for the presence of
Make.config. If it's missing, check the VDR version and if required, add the
 defines - naah!

 Cheers,
 Frank

Re: [vdr] timer problems with epgsearch/vdradmin

2009-10-03 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi!

2009/10/2 Timothy D. Lenz tl...@vorgon.com:
Not sure where this is messing up. Think it's epgsearch. When it finds shows
and sets timers, it sets it to 10 minutes over. In
epgsearh i have the margin set to 5. In vdradmin it's set to 2. If I manually
tell it to set up a timer from vdradmin, it correctly
 uses 2. So I think it's epgsearch

Just to make it clear: you've created a search timer in EPGsearch that
has record as action, right?
In this case EPGsearch uses start/stop buffers set in that search. Did
you verify that they are correctly set there?

Kind regards,
Andreas

Re: [vdr] [skinenigmang] [PATCH] rounds to squares corners jpeg logos for skinenigmang-0.1.0

2009-06-12 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi JLac,

2009/5/2 jlacvdr jlac...@gmail.com:
 Hi,

 attached file: skinenigmang-0.1.0-jlac-corners-090502.diff
 - change rounds corners to squares corners.

Thanks for the idea. I've added (in CVS) a new setup option General /
Round corners to disable round corners at runtime.

 attached file: skinenigmang-0.1.0-jlac-logos-090502.diff
 - replace xpm format by logos in 256colors and jpeg

Loading non-XPM channel logos is planed for the (near?) future.

 - simplify the logo filenames on disk: at runtine make it lower case,
without space, without underscore so avoid many times the same
logo file (or symbolic link) on the disk

I like the idea of lower case filenames. I will change that (soon?).
But I don't know yet if I want to remove character in the channel logo
names.

 - add a svdr command to check the name logos

I like this and will include it soon.

 - theme added (grey/white/black)

It's now in the CVS release. Thanks!

Kind regards,
Andreas

Re: [vdr] Unique Timer ID

2009-02-23 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi,

2009/2/23 Matthias Wächter matth...@waechter.wiz.at:
 Hi,

just wanted to ask whether someone already thought about the idea to use
unique timer IDs, like autoincrement, for avoiding race conditions
between multiple users or processes adding or removing timers. The
associated renumbering between DELT operations can lead to hitting the
wrong timer. If all timers had unique numbers, the issue would be gone
implicitly, but timers.conf would have to carry the ID requiring a file
 layout change.

 What do you think?

Why do you only want them for timers?
IMHO they should be unique for _any_ id used in SVDRP, like
recordings, channels and timers.

IIRC Klaus likes this idea but it has low priority. But he might
accept patches...

Andreas

Re: [vdr] maybe an new function for flexible ordner of colour keys on OSD?

2009-01-17 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi Sven,

I don't think that this is the main VDR's responsibility as VDR only
tells the *skins* to show the four color keys. The skin only receives
the four string it can show show any way it wants.

So any skin plugin has to implement this colour key reordering. A VDR
setup option will only avoid that any skin needs its own setup option,
but the skin still must _use_ it.

Personally I don't think this is much of use. Mapping yellow to yellow
and blue to blue and so on helps to identify the right key, doesn't
it?
Thinking of remotes that order the color keys one below the other,
someone wants a VDR setting for this...

Just my 2cents...

Regards,
Andreas

2009/1/18 Sven Soltau sven.sol...@web.de:
 Hello Klaus,

on most RCs the order of the color keys are: red - green - yellow - blue.
I own a RC with the order: red - yellow - blue - green.

So every time I switch to a new version of vdr, I have to change the order of
the color keys, because the OSD differs with my RC.

I think I'm not the only one with this problem. Is it possible to get a new
function for the next release in Setup - OSD?

 I think of something like:

 first color key = red
 second color key = yellow

and so on for the four color keys. default is red, green, yellow, blue.

 Have a nice weekend
 Sven

Re: [vdr] How to change font data?

This hole TTF and UTF-8 crap makes the handling of the icons very
complicated. Maybe it is the best for now to replace the icons with
normal letters until VDR provides support icons. I don't want to
dictate the users what font they have to use.

These dedicated letters can be easily detected in skins and replaced by
real icons as already done for event markers (and progressbar) in
 skinsoppalusikka.

You're right that's possible, but you lose scaling, so the resulting
(static) symbol might be too small or large. And it's error-prone because
you have to exactly know where you have to replace which characters.

Sure, it's not a perfect solution to use a patched font, even as it's not a
lot of work getting your own patched font by using my fontforge script. But
you have scaling out-of-the-box and it's clear where a plugin developer
wants which symbols and it's even clearer when using UTF8 because then
there are no characters that have to be replaced by anyone's PatchFont().
The only thing a plugin developer has to do is to use the correct characters
in both cases which should not be too hard to implement: a simple check in
the plugin's start() for UTF8 could assign the correct characters to
variables that can be used at the needed places.
And this even works for skins that don't implement symbol-by-character
replacement like skinsoppalusikka or EnigmaNG.

[vdr] unknown picture type error

2007-05-23 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi!

I recently had the UPT error but now there are some logs that are new to me.
Maybe someone has an idea?
My VDR box runs VDR 1.4.7, DVB-refactoring drivers ~2weeks ago and has two
DVB-S FF cards.

Thanks in advance!
Andreas

Re: [vdr] OSD layout

2007-04-20 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi!

Yes there are some VDR-Skin-Plugins around. For example mine at
http://andreas.vdr-developer.org/enigmang

What output device do you use?
You should be aware that e.g. Full-Featured DVB-S cards have limited OSD
capabilities (~90kb). So hires hi-color OSD will be a problem here.

Andreas

 OSD?

I've not done this yet, but see you can change font size and colours
using themes, but I was thinking more than this.

I've now replaced my TV with a big high-res flat screen that could fit
way more text etc on the screen.

 Anyone feel the same?

I personally don't believe/experience that driver problems cause broken
recordings nowadays or have been causing them in the past year or two.

I don't know who's fault it is but I would have broken recordings if there
would be no emergency exit. It doesn't happen often, but most of the time
(or always?) I get unknown picture type or video datastream broken
errors if following conditions are met:
- EPG scan ON
- VDR runs some time before recording starts. E.g. when replaying a
recording and an EPG scan has been performed before starting recording.

I never have that problem if EPG scan is off.
My VDR box has to FF DVB-s cards and it happened with different VDR (atm
1.4.6), kernel (atm 2.6.18.6), dvb driver (atm Friday's refactoring
repository) and firmware (atm F12623) releases.

So emergency exit is needed on my box, but I would prefer to have the cause
for UPT and VDSB fixed ;)

sorry, not yet. I hope to release it within the next days.

 Thanks for the updates.

Has anyone noticed that the timeline page in vdradmin does not work
with the new IE7? Anyone know of a workaround?

Well it works in FireFox, Konqueror, Opera, IE6 and IE7 (at least as far as
I can see).

So what's your problem in detail?

Re: [vdr] VDRAdmin-AM-3.5.2: Autotimer missing

 Hi,

Thanks! This brought Auto timer -menu available. Seems that I need to
check epgsearch-plugin as this function will be removed from VDRAdmin-AM.

What is the reason why this function gets removed?

1) I don't use AutoTimer, so it's not tested very much by me.
2) IMHO epgsearch is much better and has also the features which have been
requested by lots of VDRAdmin-AM users.
3) epgsearch can also be controlled via VDR's OSD.

Andreas

Try removing AT_OFFER from vdradmind.conf and changing -s
  $AT_FILENAME to -f $AT_FILENAME around line 3000 in vdradmind.pl.

Note also that the builtin autotimer functionality is deprecated in

Re: [vdr] VDRAdmin and character mapping

2007-01-03 Thread Andreas Mair
Hi,

On Tuesday 02 January 2007 19:46, Harald Milz wrote:
 Andreas Mair [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
What language/locale do you use in VDRAdmin-AM?
Do you use any VDR patch, that changes its character encoding?

I'm using the UTF-8 patch (because I'm using Russian and German EPGs),
and German umlauts are displayed incorrectly unless I tell the browser
explicitly to use UTF-8. In any case, vdradmin-am should give a hint
which locale it uses, by using the appropriate META header:

 META HTTP-EQUIV=Content-Type CONTENT=text/html; charset=utf-8

 ... and use a portable encoding for buttons and menu entries, like auml;
instead of ä, for example, because if I set UTF-8 in the browser,
umlauted menu entries are incorrectly displayed. At the moment it appears
that for example German is tied to ISO-8859-1 in the PO file. UTF-8
should be in the SUPPORTED_LOCALE_PREFIXES list, IMHO.

There is support for UTF8 but it has to be added manually. Simply
run ./make.sh utf8add and ./make.sh po to generate the UTF8 locales.

Hope this helps...

Andreas
