of A4 or foolscap, or an open paperback book. I posted here the results of two
scans of a double-page of a paperback done using the StandScan Pro and Prizmo.

This isn't something I know off of the top of my head, so a quick Google
search lead to http://www.papersizes.org/a-paper-sizes.htm which tells
me that the dimensions of the A4 paper size are 8.3 by 11.7 inches.
