I think the call with Side button isn’t a bad idea since it allows easy
triggering of a 9 1 1 call and if auto dial is off you still have to confirm.

Hello.
Good tip about turning off auto dial in Emergency SOS. I just did that on my 8
Plus. Another setting I found was Call with Side Button. It’s off now.
Should it be on?

You can put your setting on Automatic Answer, answers on the second ring - a
very good thing for people like my nephew with ALS.

They don’t allow you to make a short cut for turning off the phone? That would
make sense.. I haven’t figured out that shortcut thing anyway.

This is a feature on Samsung phones, and I actually do find it quite
useful. I can have my S7 sitting on it's wireless charging stand, and
when the phone rings, I can just say answer, and I'm now on speaker

That would be one feature I don’t think I would ever use and one I had never

And why Apple doesn’t allow people to tell SIRI “Turn off my phone” and then
that would bring up the power off screen is beyond me.
I was just going to go on and rant some more because it used to be that when I
said “Open General Settings” SIRI would say something like “Sorry Sieghard, I
can’t
And you can now also use SIRI for 9 1 1, you can say all sorts of things, “Call
9 1 1”, “Call the police”, “Call the cops”, they all work.

Hi
You can also go to settings > general and at the way bottom of the screen you
can find a shut down button. that will bring up the power off screen.

Pressing one of the volume buttons with the side button will bring up the power
off screen. Just don’t hold of him too long, or I guess it will dial 911 which
you don’t want. I actually don’t know any other way to bring up the power off
screen.

Right Maria, RI think that is what I did when it dialed 911. I thought
pressing one of the volume buttons with the side button would bring up the turn
off screen, but instead it dialed 911. How does one turn the phone off then?
Pressing the side button alone brings SIRI.

I've also heard that if you press and hold one of the volume buttons and the
power buttons you can end up dialing 911. I think you can disable this

In iOS 12, hitting the power button 5 times quickly does the emergency SOS and
calls 911 and anyone else you set up as emergency contacts.
