well this all goes to show that it could be what I say it is, we need a few
control subjects who use the speed at 100% or at least more than 60%, and who
have the issue, to reduce speed for say 48 hours or so and see if it occurred.
I use my device at 40%, last night I upped it to 100%, and
Dan,
Do you clear your app switcher daily and power cycle after doing so? at least
once a day?

Hi,
one more thing. A friend of mine said she had this problem ever since getting
her 4S. She recently upgrade to the premium voice, and it hasn't gone silent
yet. I was wondering, are those having this issue using the compact or premium
voice? I'm using premium, and never encountered this

good point, I'm also using the high quality premium voice.
which of course all ties into my point about speed.
those using higher speeds tend not to use the high quality premium voice synth,
as it does not scale as well.
so, you have a good point here.

So it's happened to me twice in 24 hours. I was about to email and agree but
decided to slow speech first, only to discover it already at 50% instead of
what I thought of as 65%. I reduxwd it to 40 but can no longer cope with that
slow. I'm fairly certain I have hq American though being in uk

Hi. Probably a dumb question, but how would I know if I have the high
quality premium voice?
Just wondering. I've had none of the voice over voice stopping described,
but am still running ios5.
Thanks.
God bless

Chris,
In fact the only thing I see that you all have in common, that is, those of you
who have this Voice Over stop speaking bug, is that your synth speed is set
very fast.
The only way to test if a lower speed fixes it, is to reduce your speed.
I do not have the issue, never have and I have
Hello Neil.
I have my speech at 50% as higher, Boice Over cuts words. However I use
Samantha as she's micer than Daniel and this goes for Seri too.

But, you do not have this issue right? the issue where Voice Over stops

Hi Eric, I think what Neil was trying to get across was to suggest
people slow down the speech to see if the problem still happens. Then if
it does or doesn't, eventually you go back to the faster speed and you
will be wiser so you can report to Apple. This is testing at a basic
level. I have

Oh, well, both my ex-wife and my current wife would disagree with the
wrong bit, *smile*. Seriously though, thanks for the compliment.
Regarding this bug or any other, I don't personally like having to do
testing in order for a company to fix the problem unless I'm on their
testing team.
Eric,
No one said, well at least, I certainly did not, that you had to reduce speed
forever.
In tech support the hardest issues to resolve are those which seemingly have no
reason nor rhyme.
Apple are likely powerless to fix this, until they know what is causing it.

the issue is that for all creators of stuff, if only a small minority of your
user base have an issue, and none of them are in your beta testing cycle, you
rely on those who have the issue to demonstrate it even exists and that it is
not, frankly, user operator error.

I use my 4s at 100% speech rate.
The bug is still present and so far the only common denominator I've
noticed is it seems to rear its ugly head when I'm rapidly swiping.
Maybe others are just slower with there devices?

Neil,
I completely agree with you that finding what is causing the problem
should help the cause and it would be really nice to be able to
confirm that it is a speech rate issue. I keep my speech rate at 45%,
not because I do not want it faster, but because I can live with 45%

If it were in fact caused by something innocuous as the speech rate being
above fifty percent or so or some other variant such as the app switcher
having x number of apps in it or not turning the device off and on, that in
itself could and should be considered as a major bug that Apple hasn't
