Hello

I have the same experience so I then purchased iMazing and I couldn’t get it
to work as well, so quite a lot of money wasted.

Have you tried writing Jonathan Mosen?

Maybe he had some Jaws settings different from the default?

Hi, I purchased Waltr2 on Jonathan Mosen’s recommendation on a recent

take a risk and upgrade to the full version. The software still does
not work with JAWS. I’m on the latest build of Windows 10, and for
whatever reason when I tab around the screen, the only thing I can
activate is the main sub menu with items like About, Check for
Updates, Support, etc. What are other people doing to make this thing
work? On the podcast, Jonathan was tabbing about just fine through the
various controls. I’m highly interested in replacing iTunes as a file
transfer source, so any suggestions on how to crack this accessibility
issue would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!--Joe

Re: Bluetooth keyboard

2020-02-18 Thread Donald Raikes
Hi all,
I am going to jump in here as well. I am looking for a bluetooth
keyboard that is small enough to be really portable as I am going to
be doing some travelling, but I want to be able to pair it with both
my laptop and iPad. I would like something with the numpad so I can
use JAWS with it as well as VoiceOver on my iPad/iPhone.

Thanks,
Don

You can also go to the watch app on your phone and find sounds and haptics and
turn silent mode on or off.

Re: Pandora Music app accessibility with VoiceOver

2020-02-18 Thread Barbara Stahl
I use the free version of pandora, the one with limited skips and all of the
adds.
It works just fine for me, no sound quality issues.
I have noticed that it is a little less accessible with the recent updates. I
used to be able to scroll through my station list and double tap the station I
wanted and and pandora would start playing that station. However, with the
recent update, I can no longer do this. Instead, I have to find the alphebet
directory thing near the top of the screen do a vertical swipe to the letter my
desired station is under and then slide my fingers on the screen til I hear the
station I want and then the double tap works to activate the station. Other
than that, the app works great. I use it all the time.

Silent Mode on Apple Watch

2020-02-18 Thread Brandon Olivares
Hi,

I just got an Apple Watch yesterday. I heard there was a silent mode, but I
can't find how to enable it with Voiceover. I googled it and read you have to
tap some bell icon, but Voiceover isn't telling me anything about that. What am
I missing?

Thanks,
Brandon

Re: Call’s seem to be timing out

2020-02-18 Thread Richard Turner
Well, the only other thing I could think of is to take your phone to an Apple
Store to get it thoroughly diagnosed to see if it has a problem with the
hardware.
Good luck,

Richard

RE: Bluetooth keyboard

2020-02-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
In my opinion the Logitech K780 is the best fit here, it's pretty compact, has
a numeric pad and it can pair with up to 3 devices.
The two drawbacks are its weight and the fact that you have to install Logitech
Options to use it effectively with a laptop and it's a pretty inaccessible
install.
The keyboard is somewhat heavy since it is weighted so you can stand an iPad
upright in the groove which runs along the back of the keyboard and for that
the keyboard has to be heavy enough so it wouldn't tip over.
The good thing is that once Logitech Options is installed and the checkbox is
checked which makes function keys in a Windows environment behave the
traditional way instead of being media controls and such, you can more or less
forget about it.
If you have a sighted person around who knows how to click a mouse the
installation takes a couple of minutes.

Hi all,
I am going to jump in here as well. I am looking for a bluetooth keyboard that
is small enough to be really portable as I am going to be doing some
travelling, but I want to be able to pair it with both my laptop and iPad. I
would like something with the numpad so I can use JAWS with it as well as
VoiceOver on my iPad/iPhone.

Thanks,

I find it very annoying when I slip my phone in the pocket or shake it

Sieghard,

I'm interested in the Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless mechanical
gaming keyboard and Amazon is selling it currently for USD $69.99
which seems a good price. I'll confess that I'm a big fan of
old-school keyboards which have distinctive mechanical click feedback
when pressing the keys and I'm still using an old IBM PC AT keyboard
that I snagged from the trash where I used to work. This keyboard is
a tank and was obviously over-spec'ed but I offer this up so you'll

I know you commented on the switches of this Logitech not being as
nice as the other expensive keyboard you mentioned but I'm curious as
to your opinion of its mechanical click feedback. I welcome any
additional comments you could share about it before I order one.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Shake to undo an native email app

2020-02-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Yes, you can disable it in Accessibility > Touch.
This is another example where, as often before, I recommend to remember that
the iOS Settings app has a search feature right at the very top.
If you type "shake" into that search box you find one single setting, Shake to
undo", it furthermore tells you where that setting is located, but all you have
to do is double tap on it and it takes you straight there.

Hello all.
I find it very annoying when I slip my phone in the pocket or shake it
accidentally, while using native email app. I get the message undo read or
undo trash. Is it possible to disable this option.
Would appreciate your suggestions

RE: Bluetooth keyboard

2020-02-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am in Canada so you really would be better off to check what prices are
offered in the US by looking at the American versions of sites like Amazon,
Best Buy, Newegg or Tiger Direct.
I bought mine at least 2 or 3 years ago for I think $59 Canadian which I am
pretty sure was some sort of special. Most places here in Canada seem to sell
it for $79.99 now

This keyboard is
a tank and was obviously over-spec'ed but I offer this up so you'll
know the type of keyboard I'm used to using.

I know you commented on the switches of this Logitech not being as
nice as the other expensive keyboard you mentioned but I'm curious as
to your opinion of its mechanical click feedback. I welcome any
additional comments you could share about it before I order one.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I purchased Waltr2 on Jonathan Mosen’s recommendation on a recent podcast.
I couldn’t get the trial version to work, so I decided to take a risk and
upgrade to the full version. The software still does not work with JAWS. I’m on
the latest build of Windows 10, and for whatever reason when I tab around the
screen, the only thing I can activate is the main sub menu with items like
About, Check for Updates, Support, etc. What are other people doing to make
this thing work? On the podcast, Jonathan was tabbing about just fine through
the various controls. I’m highly interested in replacing iTunes as a file
transfer source, so any suggestions on how to crack this accessibility issue
would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!--Joe

This keyboard is
a tank and was obviously over-spec'ed but I offer this up so you'll
know the type of keyboard I'm used to using.

I know you commented on the switches of this Logitech not being as
nice as the other expensive keyboard you mentioned but I'm curious as
to your opinion of its mechanical click feedback. I welcome any
additional comments you could share about it before I order one.

Thanks in advance.

highly recommend the Logitech G613 Lightspeed Wireless mechanical
gaming keyboard.

It has no backlighting, it uses a USB dongle for connectivity to the
PC which has a 1 millisecond latency and you can pair it to your
phone via Bluetooth which is also super responsive. Switching is done
via a slider switch and it’s virtually instant.

I use this keyboard as my main office keyboard, it is big and heavy
and not something you would want to travel with and my only complaint
is that it uses these Japanese switches called Roma-G, I wish it used
Cherry MX Blue switches which I have on my wired keyboards from the

they are amazing, but also expensive.

Native Mail App Question

2020-02-18 Thread Tom Lange
Hi all,
Once again I’m writing about the native Mail app for IOS. As many of you know,
I’ve fussed aplenty about focus issues with VoiceOver and other issues that

Okay, having said that, I’m really curious about the user experience with and

Zoom users experience annoying focus issues with Mail? When using Zoom and
opening a previously-unopened message thread, is it common to be placed into
anything other than the first message? What kinds of issues are sighted users
experiencing with Mail? These are just a couple of questions that I’ve
wondered about as I’ve battled the Mail app with VoiceOver over the past few
days and I’m curious what people have to say.
Thanks,

If the problem persists even when WiFi calling is off I would do a Reset

If after this you still have the issue, turn your phone off, pop the SIM tray

Your phone screen is gross. Here's how to clean I, cNet

2020-02-18 Thread M. Taylor
Your phone screen is gross. Here's how to clean it
These techniques are the absolute best to keep your iPhone or Android screen
smudge-free.
First Posted: August 31, 2019 6:00 AM PDT
CNET editors pick the products & services we write about. When you buy
through our links, we may get a commission.

Make sure you're cleaning your phone the right way.
Smudges and grime cling to your phone's screen. It's really disgusting, but
most of us have learned to live with the grease because keeping phone
screens clean is hard. Maybe you'll give it a cursory wipe on your jeans or
the hem of your shirt, but that won't really get the screen clean. The best
approach isn't hard, and will only cost you a few bucks.
On the flip side, there are the cleaning agents and techniques that you
never want to use, because -- although you might initially see good results
-- they can be too harsh and damage the screen you're working so hard to
protect.
We're going to tell you which products to avoid, and the best ways to clean
off fingerprint smudges, sand and lint from the ports, tenacious makeup off
the screen (hint: never with makeup remover) and even disinfect your phone
after contact with raw meat while you're cooking. We also tell you how to
care for phones rated for water-resistance.
Note that CNET may get a share of revenue from the sale of the products
featured on this page.

We're not here to shame you, but drop that bottle of Windex, stat. This is
how not to clean your screen.
Window cleaner
You clean your mirrors and windows with window cleaner, and they're squeaky
clean, so it must be OK to use on your phone? Wrong! Some newer phones, such
as the iPhone XR ( $749 at Amazon ), have a protective coating that resists
water and oil, which can wear out over time.
Using harsh cleaners can strip the coating and could leave your phone more
vulnerable to scratches. James LeBeau, an associate professor of materials
science and engineering at MIT, told us that any cleanser with an abrasive
agent will likely scratch the surface, so those should be avoided entirely.
Kitchen cleaners
A screen's scratch-resistant properties won't get ground down by cleaning
agents, but stripping that protective coating is still a problem. That's why
Apple also suggests not using household cleaning products to clean your
iPhone. Bar Keepers Friend, for example, states that its abrasive formula
may harm the protective layer. Bon Ami states not to use on glass with
coatings.

Paper towels
They may be the go-to for cleaning your desk, but keep them away from your
phone. The paper can shred, making the debris on your phone much worse.
Paper towels can even end up leaving scratches on your screen.
Rubbing alcohol
Since many newer phones have a protective coating, rubbing alcohol can wear
it away quicker over time, causing your phone to be more prone to scratches.
Make sure to check for alcohol in product ingredients on any "safe to use"
phone screen cleaners. Apple says to avoid alcohol when cleaning its
devices.
Makeup remover
Some makeup removers may have chemicals that can be harsh to an electronic
screen. LeBeau suggests avoiding makeup remover and instead use a soft cloth
with a little bit of water.

Compressed air
Your phone is delicate, so blowing an intense amount of air into its portals
can cause some damage, specifically to your mic. Tech companies, like Apple,
specifically warn not to use compressed air.
Dish soap and hand soap
While your dish and hand soaps may be gentle, the only way to use them is to
combine them with water. Most phone companies suggest to keep water away
from your phone, so again, stick to a damp cloth.
Vinegar
This is a no-no. Vinegar will strip the screen's coating. You could, as
Lifehacker suggests, use a very diluted vinegar to cleanse other parts of
your phone. Android Central suggests a 50/50 mix with distilled water for
cleaning the sides and back.
Disinfectant wipes
The warning label on these reminds you to wash your hands after each use, so
using them to clean something that touches your face often isn't a great
idea. According to MIT's LeBeau, these wipes typically contain alcohol that
will strip off the oleophobic (oil-repellant) and hydrophobic
(water-repellent) coatings.

How to clean fingerprint smudges from your screen
Fingerprint smudges are hard to prevent because your skin constantly
produces oils. That means that every time you pick up your phone, it's bound
to get fingerprints all over it.
The safest and most effective way to clear your screen is with a microfiber
cloth. If the screen is in desperate need of cleaning, use distilled water
to dampen the microfiber cloth and then wipe down your screen -- avoid
squirting the water directly on the screen. This method can be used on the
back and sides of your phone, too.
You can also try Swipe Wipes, which you stick to the back of your phone and
can pop off when you need to give it a wipe-down.
Check out Samsung's tips on cleaning your phone, too.

RE: Waltr2

2020-02-18 Thread Terri Hedgpeth
Hello Joe,
What version of JAWS are you running?

RE: Silent Mode on Apple Watch

2020-02-18 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
And in case you don't yet know how to invoke control and notification centre,
just swipe down or up on the screen with 1 finger, if you swipe down the first
swipe gets you control centre, just double tap when you hear it, the second
swipe gets you notification centre, again double tap.
If you want notification centre you can also swipe up once instead of down
twice and double tap.
