Re: Twitter apps

2016-03-15 Thread Jonathan Mosen
Hi Bill, the native Twitter app is quite accessible, but you may outgrow it
quickly. In my view, the value of Twitter is much greater when you can read
tweets in the order they were sent. For example, if you're following a breaking
news story, using a hashtag or list, seeing the story unfold in the correct
order is a much better experience than reading the most recent tweet first.
It's very hard to do this with Twitter's own app.
Either Twitterific or Tweetings will give you a wider range of options, and
both try to keep your place in your timeline so you can read in the correct
order.
I make use of a lot of Twitter lists. For example, I'm a keen follower of
politics around the world, so I have a list of US political reporters and
candidates which I pay particular attention to on primary days. Tweetings seems
to do a much better job at keeping my places in lists than does Twitterific.
Recently, I produced a 45 minute podcast on Tweetings for AppleVis which covers
how to get started and how to use it.
On my company's website, Mosen Consulting, I also have e n eBook for purchase
called Tweeting Blind, which is a guide to Twitter from a blindness perspective.
Hope that helps.

Re: recommendation for bluetooth device which can be an ear-piece or used in both ears for great music sound

2016-03-15 Thread Marie
No Chip these are not dongles. dongles go into a USB port but this
transmitter plugs into your headphone jack on the player. You can also move
a toggle switch to set it to be a receiver. In other words, you can plug it
into a non BT speaker and then pair it with a BT device like the IPhone.

These are generically called "bluetooth dongles" and I think some of the
businesses which sell primarily to the visually impaired (perhaps it was
Mystic Access?) sell them Maybe it was AT Guys, but they exist in places
other than Amazon which may be easier to shop.

I tried to find out the model for my daughter last week but could not find
it on Amazon which is where I originally purchased it. But when I have a
sighted body nearby, I will get them to check for a model number. this thing
is very small and light weight and has a re-chargeable battery so it does
not get it's power from the device. I have no idea if it would reduce the
lag on the ITouch but I will try it out and see what happens.

Hmmm. I wonder if A transmitter like this could be used with an iOS device
to improve lag with Bluetooth devices. Does anchor make only one type of
transmitter? Can you send a link to the list for the one you have?

Hi Eric,

Sorry, I just am not a bluetooth hi-fi expert. I think however that it's
virtually impossible to get both a good hi-fi experience, and still allow
environmental sound to be heard; so, I think you are stuck with either
Aftershokz or to just use one ear when possible (like these allow).

I did find an article about a variation of this from LG which is the

The problem I have is the buds are the type that isolate you from outside.

Although the retractable wires are probably nice, the wires on the 730 are not

RE: For Cieghard, regarding using an iPhone, over an ipod

2016-03-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Terri,

Yes, you did spell it correctly, thanks.

As for space, 16 Gb definitely will bring some limitations especially since the
iOS installation itself takes up about 4 or so Gb so you probably have about 12
Gb free space.

Your apps won’t take up a lot of space especially if you don’t have 300 of them
on your phone as some do. Pictures are not too bad, a picture taken with the 5S
is probably only 3 to 4 Mb, so you could have 300 or 400 pictures on your phone
and probably only use 1 Gb of space.

Music takes up a bit more depending on the quality, I have a library of about
4,000 songs ripped at 256 kbps and it is around 25 Gb I think so you could
easily fill up your phone with a couple of thousand songs at that quality. But
since I now have an Apple Music subscription, I don’t even have any music
downloaded to my phone and for me listening to music happens usually at home
and then I don’t use my phone but listen via my Sonos system or the Apple TV.

What really eats up the storage are movies in HD quality, the 3 Lord of the
Rings movies which I bought from iTunes was a 30 Gb download so at that quality
you could probably fill up your phone with one of those movies, many other
shorter movies are still 3 or 4 Gb in HD quality. Of course with Netflix you
stream so it’s of no concern.

Audio books also depend on the quality. If you download Audible books in the
enhanced quality format they can also be very large, but then again if you have
an Audible subscription there is no reason to download a ton of books to your
phone, download one or two at a time or maybe more if you were going to be on
vacation somewhere and you know you wanted to have 5 or 6 books along, but
otherwise you can just download one or two, delete them when you are done and
download another. Any books you buy are always available in your Audible
library and you can simply redownload them if you want to listen again.

If you have a large library of audio books in MP3 or some other format I would
manage them similarly. Just have them on your computer and put a few books at a
time on your phone.

Regards,

Sieghard

Thanks, Chip, I ordered the item, on the American Amazon site it was listet at
$7.97 + $3.97 shipping. Unfortunately the item does not seem to be listed in
Canada, but I was able to order it except the shipping to Canada went up to
about $11. I know it’s more than the item itself, but this does sound pretty

Fortunately I sell carabiners at my store and I have all sorts of them kicking

for it.

Hi Sieghard,

First, it’s black nylon canvas, not leather as I said. It has a leather-like
feel to it to me.

It has four different ways to secure it to you:

The belt clip holds it vertically (and does not swivol as yours does),

One strap (under the belt clip) provides a way to pass your belt through it so
it is hanging vertically from your belt,

A second different strap allows you to pass a belt through so it hangs
horizontally from your belt,

And the d-ring (they call it a carabiner), which is removable if you don’t like
it, secures to a swivol ring which naturally just lets it hang vertically,
although you can rotate it to be horizontal when you sit down.

The Amazon link is:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NKA4NQY?psc=1

 =true_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01

The second strap which holds it horizontally onto a belt is very large, and I
use it to hold the earbuds which came with the Iphone inside of the pocket that
this strap naturally forms; it’s tight enough the earbuds stay securely in
place, and while I try to carry my bluetooth device with me and keep it
charged, I’m glad to have them as a backup should I forget something.

I believe it’s just under $12, and like you, the carabiner was the thing which
attracted me to it; I do wish the belt clip swivoled though (that’s just nice),
but I used the carabiner because it gives such freedom of movement to the
holster as I sit, and it holds it more in front of me (when secured onto the
front belt loop) which makes sitting less difficult in tight chairs.

You can buy these carabiners in packs of two for a couple of dollars (I just
bought some at a big box hardware store) if your holster has any sort of small
ring you could pass it through.

Hth,

Chip

Hi Chip,

I’d like the name/model and also I’d like to know if it’s a vertical or
horizontal holster. I bought one called “Gorilla Grip” which is a very solid
leather holster with a very good swivel belt clip, but it’s meant to hold the
6S Plus horizontally and while you can turn it into the vertical position, then
the flap opens forwards and it’s just not ideal. This particular belt clip
won’t come off a belt since it has a bit of a hook at the end so it’s very
secure, but I like the idea of the D-ring as well.

Sieghard

I bought a separate holster for the times when I wanted a belt clip, so when I
did not want one (when it was going into a pocket which could hold it), I
didn’t have a belt clip as well.

The holster I found also has a snap d-ring so you can snap it onto a belt loop,
which I prefer to use of the belt clip, because something this large can
accidentally pull off of a belt when you sit down. I believe the holster is
leather, and if anyone is interested, you can write to me and I’ll get the
name and a link to it.

My biggest issue, and this may have changed with the later model of the griffin

RE: What is a IPod classic

2016-03-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Terri,

When you say you have apps on your phone, is that an iPhone? If so, why not
just use your iPhone? I know some people here have all sorts of iOS devices and
I can see why somebody might want an iPhone and an iPad of some sort because of
the larger size, but the iPod Touch 5th or 6th Generation is the same size as
the iPhone 5/5S and is basically just an iPhone without the phone.

A few years ago when my now wife was still living in the Philippines I gave her
an iPod Touch 5th Gen. After she came here last year I bought her an iPhone 6
and she has rarely picked up her iPod Touch since because she just does
everything on the phone. I currently still have my iPhone 5S after buying a new
phone last fall. It has no SIM card in it which basically makes it an iPod
Touch and I thought maybe I would use it when I am home for audio books and so
on, but I also rarely use it because I find it much easier and more convenient
to do everything on my main device. Just my opinion.

Subject: What is a IPod classic

Hello everyone,

I was wondering, what exactly is an IPod

Classic?

Are they worth purchasing?

How exactly would a totally blind person use them?

I found a 38 gig one for 80 dollars. I asked the guy who is selling it, if it
may have voiceover. He said that he did not think so, because there is no
speaker. He says that there is a wheel that clicks when you turn it.

But how would you know where you were at, or how would you get to where you
wanted to go?

This sounds like a good deal to me, if it would work for me. I would love to
have an IPod Touch.

However, I really just want to be able to listen to my books, music, audio
movies, and audio tv. I have apps I need, on my phone. And I also have Netflix,
for other things.

So what do you all think?

Any thoughts, or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

Re: turning off screen curtain on iPhone 5s question

2016-03-15 Thread englishrider91
Also, be forewarned tuat the screen curtain feature does not make the screen
any less bright. All it does is black out the screen. I would recommend turning
off the autobrightness setting, and turning the brightness down to zero in
order to conserve your battery. You can always turn up the brightness if needed
by going into the control center by performing a three-finger flick up after
touching any icon in the status bar. You'll find a brightness slider in there.
Just press the home button to get out. Don't forget to turn your brightness
down to zero again afterward.

Thanks,
Ari

I had written a message and then copied the app store info, but it must have

They did not make it with accessibility in mind, but they just used Apple

RE: Looking for info on the iPhone 6s plus, and a good protective case for it.

2016-03-15 Thread Chip Orange

Regards,

My biggest issue, and this may have changed with the later model of the griffin
survivor cases is that when you put them in The clip, axis to the charging cord
is completely blocked. I liked the OtterBox defender cases as well, but I've
heard that the model for the 6S and 6S plus have quality issues. If you want a
case with the belt clip, where the screen can face out, you may want to take a
look at this. I'm not sure if they have it in the plus size, but it's worth
looking.

I would call them very slim (their weight is specified somewhere online, but I
am sure is only a couple of ounces). The front of the collar is thicker (to
contain the batteries and buttons) and seems about as thick as a thumb for
about four inches back on each side, then the band narrows to something less
than the thickness of a pinky finger to make the trip around behind your neck.

I have tried a couple of other BT headphones and there is not as much lag as
with the LG. So not sure why the problem but it is the same on the ITouch
and not so when using the built in speakers. both devices are very
responsive when not using BT. Normally I am not a huge fan of BT headphones

Do you notice the same lag on the Iphone if you are using the built-in

The problem I have is the buds are the type that isolate you from outside.
You can not push them in quite so far, but then you lose most of the
quality.

I would really like to find tips that deliver the good sound, but do not
block out all outside sounds. If you or anyone knows of anything, it will be
most appreciated. I actually did try attaching tips from Bose MIE, but they
have a proprietary fit to the earbud which I could not get to stay on the
LG. Too bad because they are the best bud tips I have ever used.
Unfortunately, the MIE are wired.

Thanks!

Eric

Hi all,

When I went to sign up for my AT service, the very knowledgable salesman
and my wife fell into a discussion about his bluetooth device, which my
sighted wife said was unlike anything she had ever seen. He told us that it
was an LG Tone Infinim, and in his opinion he would never go back to a
standard ear-piece.

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,
encompassing 300 degrees or so around your neck, with the open portion

2016-03-15 Thread Chip Orange
These are generically called "bluetooth dongles" and I think some of the
businesses which sell primarily to the visually impaired (perhaps it was Mystic
Access?) sell them Maybe it was AT Guys, but they exist in places other than
Amazon which may be easier to shop.

I own two LG headsets and I can tell you they are not bulky at all. The collar

Hi Danny,

iCloud is an Apple service; your mother will be paying them for it, not her
phone company. I'm sure that if you use her Apple ID for the purchase, you'll
be asked to enter credit card info as part of the purchasing process if there's
none on file.

Hi, Everyone.
I want to help my Mom get more iCloud storage. She and my Dad have

If she needs to go and pay Apple, where would I go on her iPhone to

Thanks,

Re: What is a IPod classic

2016-03-15 Thread Woody Anna Dresner
Hi,

I didn't know you could load Rockbox on an iPod Classic. Rockbox is interesting
software; I used to run it on an iPod Nano. Be advised that if you use it, it
changes the interface; it's like using a different player. Your player will
have the ability to boot into either Rockbox or the original firmware. With
Rockbox running, the player won't be able to play files with DRM. If you need
to play any such files, you'll need to boot into the original iPod software.
When I used the Rockbox firmware, it was very nice and had features that
weren't part of my iPod Nano's original firmware. It's just important to
understand that it is different firmware, not a screen reader that makes the
original firmware accessible.

Best,
Anna

The Anchor wireless transmitter also sounds interesting. (To be clear,
it's not bluetooth but wireless, right?) Which one do you have, please?
I really could do with one of these.

Oh, that makes sense now. I was wondering because I knew that the victor didn't

Marie,

These sound interesting ... so I wait to need more earphones ...

The Anchor wireless transmitter also sounds interesting. (To be clear,
it's not bluetooth but wireless, right?) Which one do you have, please?
I really could do with one of these.

You can also load the Rockbox firmware onto an iPod Classic. Although
Rockbox wasn't written just to be used by the blind, it has enough eyes
free support that a blind person can use it. Check out rockbox.org for

I have tried a couple of other BT headphones and there is not as much lag as
with the LG. So not sure why the problem but it is the same on the ITouch
and not so when using the built in speakers. both devices are very

but when I want to do things without getting wires caught on everything, BT
is the answer.

Hi Marie,

Do you notice the same lag on the Iphone if you are using the built-in
speaker, or is this definitely caused by the Iphone Bluetooth? If it's
caused by the Iphone bluetooth, have you ever tried any other bluetooth
headset besides the LG, and if so, did it also have the same lag?

(just my curiousity trying to figure out where the problem is).

Thanks.

Yes I have the LG 730 and they are currently the only BT headphones I use. I
don't think you can get much quality sound without blocking some external
noise. I do, however find an unacceptable lag on both my IPhone 6 and my
ITouch. But I use a very tiny transmitter from Anker to send the signal from

Hi Eric,

Sorry, I just am not a bluetooth hi-fi expert. I think however that it's
virtually impossible to get both a good hi-fi experience, and still allow
environmental sound to be heard; so, I think you are stuck with either
Aftershokz or to just use one ear when possible (like these allow).

I did find an article about a variation of this from LG which is the HBS730
(the ones I am reviewing are the HBS900). The reviewers thought the HBS730
were just the best bluetooth sound *ever*, but they thought the retractable
wire management on the HBS900 was great. I believe the HBS730 are also this

Chip, I agree this is a pretty good product. It does keep your earbuds

Thanks!

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,

Each arm has controls on the top and the sides (lots of actual buttons), and
the mike is built into one of the arms. But best of all are the ear-buds

Chip, I agree this is a pretty good product. It does keep your earbuds
readily available, too.

The problem I have is the buds are the type that isolate you from outside.
You can not push them in quite so far, but then you lose most of the
quality.

I would really like to find tips that deliver the good sound, but do not
block out all outside sounds. If you or anyone knows of anything, it will
be
most appreciated. I actually did try attaching tips from Bose MIE, but
they

have a proprietary fit to the earbud which I could not get to stay on the
LG. Too bad because they are the best bud tips I have ever used.
Unfortunately, the MIE are wired.

Thanks!

Hi all,

When I went to sign up for my AT service, the very knowledgable salesman
and my wife fell into a discussion about his bluetooth device, which my
sighted wife said was unlike anything she had ever seen. He told us that
it

was an LG Tone Infinim, and in his opinion he would never go back to a
standard ear-piece.

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,
encompassing 300 degrees or so around your neck, with the open portion
facing directly forward.

Each arm has controls on the top and the sides (lots of actual buttons),
and

the mike is built into one of the arms. But best of all are the ear-buds
which nestle in small nooks at the end of each arm, and are attached with
spring-loaded 10 inch long wires. When not in use, you press a button and
they automatically retract back into the device, so nothing is in your ear
to impeed your hearing.

When you get a call (the device will vibrate if you set it up that way,
and
it will also vibrate if you begin to walk away from your phone), you
simply
grab an earbud and pull it out and insert into your ear. If you want
better

sound, or to listen to music, you pull both out.

The controls on the right arm are dedicated to controlling audio (fast
forward, rewind, pause/play), and the controls on the other are
volume/vibrate and interface with Siri so you can give verbal commands.

I've waited a couple of months before I said anything here because I

I tried to find out the model for my daughter last week but could not find

Hmmm. I wonder if A transmitter like this could be used with an iOS device
to improve lag with Bluetooth devices. Does anchor make only one type of
transmitter? Can you send a link to the list for the one you have?

RE: recommendation for bluetooth device which can be an ear-piece or used in both ears for great music sound

2016-03-15 Thread Chip Orange
Hi Carol,

I re-read the review comparing the LG 730 verses the 900. They said the sound
was comparable, but the 730 does not have the retractable wires for the earbuds
(which the reviewer thought added too much to the price of the 900, but not for
me, this management of the wires is well worth it for me). They otherwise
didn't see any obvious differences except to note the 900s were a later design.

2016-03-15 Thread Chip Orange
Hi Marie,

Do you notice the same lag on the Iphone if you are using the built-in speaker,
or is this definitely caused by the Iphone Bluetooth? If it's caused by the
Iphone bluetooth, have you ever tried any other bluetooth headset besides the
LG, and if so, did it also have the same lag?
(just my curiousity trying to figure out where the problem is).

Thanks.

Yes I have the LG 730 and they are currently the only BT headphones I use. I
don't think you can get much quality sound without blocking some external
noise. I do, however find an unacceptable lag on both my IPhone 6 and my
ITouch. But I use a very tiny transmitter from Anker to send the signal from
the Stream or the Plextalk with little or no lag and decent sound on books,
music or podcasts.

I believe the HBS730 are also this
collar design, but the wires don't retract.

Thanks!

Subject: recommendation for bluetooth device which can be an ear-piece or
used in both ears for great music sound

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,
encompassing 300 degrees or so around your neck, with the open portion
facing directly forward.

Each arm has controls on the top and the sides (lots of actual buttons), and
the mike is built into one of the arms. But best of all are the ear-buds
which nestle in small nooks at the end of each arm, and are attached with
spring-loaded 10 inch long wires. When not in use, you press a button and
they automatically retract back into the device, so nothing is in your ear
to impeed your hearing.

When you get a call (the device will vibrate if you set it up that way, and
it will also vibrate if you begin to walk away from your phone), you simply
grab an earbud and pull it out and insert into your ear. If you want better
sound, or to listen to music, you pull both out.

The controls on the right arm are dedicated to controlling audio (fast
forward, rewind, pause/play), and the controls on the other are
volume/vibrate and interface with Siri so you can give verbal commands.

I've waited a couple of months before I said anything here because I wanted
to be sure I also thought it was enormously better than a standard
ear-piece, and absolutely I think it is. It comes in any number of colors
(my wife's opinion is that the silver/gray is the most professional
looking), and having it around my neck doesn't bother me at all.I do get
a lot of compliments on how it

Subject: RE: Fopydo Stand For Scanning Books

I’ll put the link and then copy the text below each item for both the stand and
then the book reading aid.

Fopydo Stand instructions and video can be found at:

http://fopydo.com/scanningstandfortheblind

As you remove a folded stand from the zip-lock bag hold it in your hands by
shorter edges. The side with wires should be in your left hand and the wires
should be facing down. Reach with your right hand thumb towards the top center
of the stand and press the tab in the center to unlock. Please note that when
you fold the stand for storage or transport you can push the tab back to lock
it in a folded form.

Now open the top part of the stand - it unfolds into one layer of corrugated
plastic. Hold the short edge with wires in your left hand and the short edge
with a tab in the center in your right hand. With your right hand bend the
right part of the stand at the crease placed around six inches from the right
short edge.

Now hold the folded crease in your right hand. In other words you should hold a
crease with two layers of corrugated plastic in your right hand and the short
edge with wires in a single layer of corrugated plastic in your left hand.
Start pushing the crease forward with your right hand forming a triangular
shelf till the tab reaches the cut-out for locking the shelf. The center tab
snaps into the cut-out and forms the shelf for your mobile device.

Now turn the stand so that the shelf is at the top and the wires are at the
bottom. Turn the wires by 90 degrees in the same direction as the top shelf -
the wires form the base of the stand. Press the wires all the way into the
flutes of corrugated plastic. Place the stand on a flat surface.

The top shelf of the assembled stand is 10.5 inches from the surface. This is a
proper distance to scan a letter or A4 size document using an iPhone 6 or an
iPhone 5 - so if this is your goal you do not need to extend L-shaped wires. If
you are using an iPhone 4s, or if you want to scan larger documents you need to
extend the wires from the vertical back side of the stand. The vertical back
side of the stand contains three round cut-outs half inch in diameter near the
top shelf along right and left edges. These cut-outs are 1 inch apart and wires
run near the middle of the cut-outs. In order to read a letter size document
with an iPhone 4s extend the wires by 1 inch on both sides - till you feel the
wire tips in the middle of the first pair of cut-outs (right and left) placed
one inch below the top shelf. You may extend the wires further the second or
the third cut-out in order to read larger size documents.

Now place your stand on a stable flat surface. Place your mobile device on the
top shelf of the stand. The long edge of the mobile device should be placed
along the flutes of corrugated plastic and the camera should be about half inch
in front of the half circle guide on the edge of the top shelf. There are
several rectangular cut-outs along the edges of the top shelf intended to help
in placing your mobile device straight. In addition, there is a section of
non-slip micro suction tape on the top shelf to secure your mobile device in
place.

Place your document between the wires, a shorter edge of the document should be
next to the vertical back side of the stand. Now the camera that is placed half
an inch in front of the half circle guide points to the middle of the letter or
A4 size document.

We hope that the stand will serve you well that it will make it easy for you to
read documents.

Book Reading Aid video and instructions can be found here:

Assembly Instructions:

If you plan to use the stand without the base, the stand can be erected after
removal from the base. In this case,

I do not think it is my imagination that my iPhone 6s, which I got a couple
month ago, has a much higher sensitivity for going to speaker phone if I even
slightly move the phone from my ear or the lower part of the phone from my
cheek. It’s rather annoying and was giving me problems hearing a call tonight
because I was trying to move the phone away from my mouth a bit to tell my kids
to bbe quiet and then the phone would go over to speaker. I was on an iphone
4 before this. Does anyone else notice this? Is there a way to change this
sensitivity? I suppose I’m normally using ear buds on calls, but I broke mine
this morning.

RE: Fopydo Stand For Scanning Books

2016-03-15 Thread Fazil
Thank you very much, Richard, I do appreciate for your help. I, however, gotta
question about Book Reading Aid.

Your message says:

Book Reading Aid video and instructions can be found here:

http://fopydo.com/bookreadingaid

Unless I was doing something wrong, I could not find the video when I went to
this site.

Should I go somewhere else then?

Thanks again.

Place the stand on a flat surface.

http://fopydo.com/sites/default/files/pictures/20150321-IMG_1473.jpg

Fopydo Stand For Scanning Books

2016-03-15 Thread Fazil
Hi, list.

Last Fall Fopydo Stand guy was collecting pledges from potential buyers so
he could develop the stand for scanning books by Iphone. I purchased the
product too.

I am trying to find the Youtube link or any other video link to the
instruction for assembling the unit.

When I went to youtube, I found several results and did not know which one I
should play.

Can someone help me, please?

Thanks!

Re: recommendation for bluetooth device which can be an ear-piece or used in both ears for great music sound

2016-03-15 Thread Kimberly
That's right. The 730 do have the collar design but the wires don't retract.
Rather, the earbuds are magnetized to hold them in place at the ends of the
u-shaped collar when not in the ears.

I believe the HBS730 are also this
collar design, but the wires don't retract.

If you or anyone knows of anything, it will be
most appreciated. I actually did try attaching tips from Bose MIE, but they

Unfortunately, the MIE are wired.

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,
encompassing 300 degrees or so around your neck, with the open portion
facing directly forward.

Marie,

These sound interesting ... so I wait to need more earphones ...

The Anchor wireless transmitter also sounds interesting. (To be clear,
it's not bluetooth but wireless, right?) Which one do you have, please?
I really could do with one of these.

Hi Eric,

Sorry, I just am not a bluetooth hi-fi expert. I think however that it's
virtually impossible to get both a good hi-fi experience, and still allow
environmental sound to be heard; so, I think you are stuck with either
Aftershokz or to just use one ear when possible (like these allow).

I did find an article about a variation of this from LG which is the
HBS730
(the ones I am reviewing are the HBS900). The reviewers thought the
HBS730
were just the best bluetooth sound *ever*, but they thought the

also this

collar design, but the wires don't retract.

Chip, I agree this is a pretty good product. It does keep your earbuds
readily available, too.

The problem I have is the buds are the type that isolate you from
outside.

You can not push them in quite so far, but then you lose most of the
quality.

I would really like to find tips that deliver the good sound, but do not
block out all outside sounds. If you or anyone knows of anything, it
will be
most appreciated. I actually did try attaching tips from Bose MIE, but
they

have a proprietary fit to the earbud which I could not get to stay on the

Hi all,

When I went to sign up for my AT service, the very knowledgable
salesman

and my wife fell into a discussion about his bluetooth device, which my
sighted wife said was unlike anything she had ever seen. He told us
that it

was an LG Tone Infinim, and in his opinion he would never go back to a
standard ear-piece.

This device is shaped like a horse-shoe, and sits on your shoulders,
encompassing 300 degrees or so around your neck, with the open portion
facing directly forward.

Each arm has controls on the top and the sides (lots of actual
buttons), and

the mike is built into one of the arms. But best of all are the ear-buds
which nestle in small nooks at the end of each arm, and are attached with
spring-loaded 10 inch long wires. When not in use, you press a button
and
they automatically retract back into the device, so nothing is in your
ear

to impeed your hearing.

When you get a call (the device will vibrate if you set it up that
way, and
it will also vibrate if you begin to walk away from your phone), you
simply
grab an earbud and pull it out and insert into your ear. If you want
better

sound, or to listen to music, you pull both out.

The controls on the right arm are dedicated to controlling audio (fast

a lot of compliments on how it looks, and a lot of requests for demos.

A charge lasts about 3 days. I find the audio quality excellent, but
admit
to not being an expert on the audio quality of all bluetooth devices,
so I'm
putting a review link below, and an Amazon link to the silver for $90
also.

I have to admit my wife and I had each already purchase other

Re: What is the difference between an iPod, and an iPad question

2016-03-15 Thread 'RobH.' via VIPhone
OOooh, well, lots of interesting bits to discuss.
The iPod is a pocket media player, the size of the phone, but no phone chip;
but does do the rest.
iPad was the first tablet, iPad Mini was and is the smaller 8inch tablet, the
Aire is a definitivename to separate the Mini from
the big one, which is the aire.
iPod is up to 6, iPad Mini is up to 4, iPad aire is up to 2, though iPad had 3
versions before it was called Aire. One generation
back is usually worthwhile if you need to save the difference of around £80-100
in the UK.

Oddly, when i asked apple over here, they were offering the Mini 2 as previous
model and not Mini 3; can't understand that.

Finally, there is now the iPad Professional, which is bigger than the Aire, in
spec at least and maybe in physical size, though
can't remember.

Subject: What is the difference between an iPod, and an iPad question

Hello there everyone,

First of all, I really hope that this does not sound like a silly question?
But I am just very curious as to what people think.

My boyfriend got an android tablet a couple of weeks ago, and I got very
excited about it. I want something to put my music and stuff on, without
having to use ITunes.

So my boyfriend just gave me the tablet. It runs kit-mat. Well in my
opinion, Android is still as much of a pain, when I first had a phone a
long time ago, running Gingerbread. I know that there are people that love
it. That is good for me, because I am just not one of them. Something
should not be so darn difficult to use.

Ok, that rant is over. LOL!

What I am wondering, is why do some people prefer an IPad over an IPod?
Don't they basically do the same things? If not, then how are they
different?

And what is the difference from an IPad, IPad Mini, and an IPad Air?

Also, what generation are we now at, with the IPod? If someone couldn't
afford the latest model, then what would be the best, older version to get?

Also, I am running Windows 7 on my laptop. Which version of ITunes is the
best to get?

Any help with any of this, would be very much appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Terri
