Re: problem with voice on phone calls

2020-05-27 Thread PRAMIT BHARGAVA
Hi Kay,

If you are using a Bluetooth headset try calling without it.
If you have already reset the network, done reboot and still the issue
persist.
Also if you're using Wi-Fi calling make sure that you're getting proper
connectivity.
Then you'll have to get a new SIM card to get this issue sorted.

Hope this helps

Pramit

Well, I can send you a link, but let me tell you first how it shows up. It is
coming from a Spotify podcast. I can download it to my phone from Spotify and
it plays without showing an extension. I can select the more button and opt to
save it to Dropbox, but when I do, here is how it shows up in the dropbox
folder:

File May 25, 4 10 29 PM

with no extension

and it is only 20 kb in size.

Do you still want a dropbox link?

What is the format? If you have the file, could you put it in Dropbox and send
me a link? I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a tool available somewhere as you
seem to be able to convert almost anything to anything these days.

You might be able to do this with the screen recording feature, only thing is
that you would hear Voiceover after you start the screen recording and as you
navigate to your Podcast player and start the Podcast, once you are on the Play
button you could mute speech with a 3-finger double tap, then double tap to
start the Podcast and let it play. This will create a video file, you could
afterwards convert it to MP3 using one of the many online converters and, if
you wish, use a program like Goldwave to edit out the initial part where
Voiceover is speaking.
Now, having said all this, it would be a pretty complicated and time consuming
way to record a Podcast which already exists online in some audio format, most
likely MP3. Why not just download the Podcast to your computer?

Hi,

Does anyone know of a recording program for the phone and or IPad which will
record what is played on the phone without recording external sounds?

I need to record some podcasts that are playing on the phone without grabbing
the noise from the environment around me.

Thanks.

First, there are no apps yet.
Second, even if there were, downloading them would not make any difference
unless you went into the Health app settings and turned it on.
Further more, it has nothing to do with your contacts.
It is designed for your own protection as Anna already pointed out.
So, do nothing and you will be fine.

Hi! Everyone:

By now, we are all in knowledgable about the new iOS tracking app which is
incorporated into the newest download of the iOS for the iPhone, and other
programs for android and others. I use the iPhone, and as I have heard
different people expressed concerns about this new tracking procedure they have
put in the iOS package I am very concerned. I have not as yet downloaded the
new iOS I believe it’s 13.5 as I do not want the tracking app to be activated
and seek out everybody on my list or my phone list. It’s one thing to have your
self tracked but it’s another thing when your friends phone numbers and
addresses on your phone are being tracked without their consent. Also, I do not
want to be tracked either.

What I am asking if anybody knows is there a way to either delete or shut the
tracking set up off when you download the iOS. If there is a way to disable the
tracking or rather contract tracking app, I would consider downloading the new
iOS. However if there is not a way to disable it permanently, then I will not
be Downloading any more iOS apps which have the contact tracking feature. Any
help or advice, or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

remember which position it is in when you want to use it.
Of the two rectangular buttons hold the farthest right hand one down for

Put the Voice over focus on where it says To Pair an apple watch.
After about 5 or more seconds, the K480 should show up.
Double tap on it and it should just connect.

It is the right-hand most of the two rectangular keys that are by themselves on
the just below the slot for an iPad on the top opposite of the dial.
You need to hold that in for several seconds while in the bluetooth settings.
The keyboard will show up toward the end of the bluetooth settings after the
words other devices.
Are you sure you have it powered on?

Hello,
Does anyone use a Logitech k480 with their iPhone?
I'm trying to pair mine but I'm missing something.
I moved the dial to where I wanted it set and did the usual settings,
Bluetooth, and it isn't discovering the keyboard.
Am I missing a step?

Re: How Do You Change Your Contacts in the Way They Show in Section Index?

2020-05-27 Thread Arlene
Carolyn, we could write off list about this, but there's some discouraging
aspects about the kyozera phones, that might be what your friend is having
trouble with. As far as I know the cadence and the dura xv are set up pretty
much the same way that I could point out to you. I wish that verizon was
still selling the lg exalt, which is a whole lot better, but of course you
could still text with the cadence and the dura xv. I did find out that
there's a new dura xv extreme so I don't know if some areas of the text to
speech were improved. I hope i could get to see it in the store some time
soon. Feel welcome to write me off list, or I'll write to you.

Esther, possibly someone may have answered your question already about the
kyosera dura xv which is a flip phone, it's one of the more rugged flip
phones that costs about $264. and it's amoungst some other phones that are
quite accessible with the text to speech. Especially when it comes to
writing texts, emails, and writing in the notepade since you could easily
get to the options for the lower case letters, upper case letters, for the
symbols, and numbers.
I have the cadence, another flip phone made by kyozera and never had any
loss of contacts.
As far as our iPhones, they each have 300 contacts and never lost any of the
contacts.

Hi,

The only way to do this for now is to move to the end of the video until
the Replay button appears and then start the video over again.
Unfortunately, this is the only way for VO users to manipulate a video

RE: The newest release of iOS: The newest release of iOS:

2020-05-27 Thread Richard Turner
The tracking is off by default.
You have to opt in.
Right now, at least in the US, there are no apps to use for tracking.
Even if there were, you have to install them and turn on the tracking.
So no one needs to worry about being tracked without their consent.

Subject: The newest release of iOS: The newest release of iOS:

Hi!

Re: The newest release of iOS: The newest release of iOS:

2020-05-27 Thread Gordon
this whole thing has been totally blown out of proportion. Rumors get
started and it circulates and really makes people feel scared and
uneasy. No one is tracking you! There's not someone sitting there
watching you go to Walmart and then out to eat and monitoring who you
talk to. The Covid19 thing doesn't really track you as websites have
been saying.

Re: The newest release of iOS: The newest release of iOS:

2020-05-27 Thread Anna Dresner
Hi Michael,

I assume you're talking about COVID-19 exposure logging. If so, it's off by
default and can't do anything unless you download an app that can make use of
it. So you would have to install and activate an app for it to do anything. As
I understand it, the way it's supposed to work is to keep track of devices that
come near you. If someone using one of those devices tests positive for
COVID-19 and says so in the app, you get notified that you were near someone
who tested positive. It doesn't keep track of where you go, just who is nearby.
and it doesn't say who tested positive.

Best,
Anna

the conversation starts out just fine. After about a half hour or so, I start
to sound like I am under water or garbled. Kind of like I am out of range of a
tower. I have not moved at all. at first I attributed it to the battery power
getting low, but this is not the case. It seems to happen in most calls. I am
usually at home but this is because I don't stay on the phone that long when
out in public. Someone told me that there is a setting I can change to fix
this. I am on a 6 S carrier is AT I don't know if this makes a difference.

Having said that, this is the first really bad accessibility blunder for

Hi,

The only way to do this for now is to move to the end of the video until
the Replay button appears and then start the video over again.
Unfortunately, this is the only way for VO users to manipulate a video

You can use the Run keeper app and start a walking workout. This will give you
the average walking speed when the workout is completed. The other option is to
track a workout with the activities app by Apple on the iPhone and doing the
simple math to convert the seconds per mile to miles per hour.

Hello list
I installed the youtube app (not the youtube music app) but it seems to be
inaccessible. All I can read with voiceOver is the section of the screen
with the date and battery status. Is there a trick to get the app to open
further or is it just inaccessible?
Regards
Fanus

Re: YouTube Issue

2020-05-27 Thread Duane Steele
So, if I understand this thread, the ability to set track position in a video
is broken, YouTube is aware of it, and hasn't fixed it in the latest update.
And YouTube Premium subscriber. I started a video and missed something I really
want to hear, and can't get back to it, no matter what I try, even using some
of your great suggestions for which I'm truly grateful. I do hope they repair
this broken link soon.

RE: Changing the tip in the Instacart app

Glad that worked for you, Mary. We have had a few shoppers who have gone out
of their way to be helpful, so it is nice to have the option of increasing it
after the fact.

Thanks, Tom, and others who suggested how to include the tip when you initially
place your order. That is obvious. My issue was changing it after the fact,
which Pamela answered in her email, where she pointed out that you have to
double tap on your name and then on your orders. Then you can find a change tip
button. Worked like a charm.

Hers is a Kyocera Dura. According to her and two other people, they are very

Carolyn, I'm just curious, what model of phone is that kyozera phone that's a
bar phone, I haven't heard of that. I just know of the 2 flip phones the
kyozera dura xv, and the kyozera dura xv extreme and the kyozera cadence.
Thanks.

Kyocera Dura ia a feature phone. It is not a flip phone; it is a candy bar
phone. It has buttons to use for dialing and menus.

Esther, possibly someone may have answered your question already about the
kyosera dura xv which is a flip phone, it's one of the more rugged flip phones
that costs about $264. and it's amoungst some other phones that are quite
accessible with the text to speech. Especially when it comes to writing texts,
emails, and writing in the notepade since you could easily get to the options
for the lower case letters, upper case letters, for the symbols, and numbers.
I have the cadence, another flip phone made by kyozera and never had any loss
of contacts.
As far as our iPhones, they each have 300 contacts and never lost any of the
contacts.

How to fix the iOS Family Sharing bug without
losing your app data By Malcolm Owen |

A recent bug stemming from the Family Sharing
feature of iOS and iPadOS is preventing users
from being able to run apps they already own on their devices.

Here's how to fix it while Apple prepares to patch the issue.

On Friday, a bug surfaced that affected a
large number of Apple users, primarily those
who updated their iPhone or iPad to the
just-released iOS 13.5 and iPadOS 13.5. The
bug displays a prompt on screen claiming the
app is "no longer shared" with the user, and
suggesting they buy it from the App Store to continue using it.

Due to the mention of sharing within the
message, the bug seems to be related to Family
Sharing, a function of Apple's account system
that allows apps and other content to be
shared between a small number of people. This
in theory can save a family money, as apps do
not have to be purchased multiple times.

Despite being primarily used for paid apps,
the Family Sharing bug seems to also impact
other apps stored on a device that were
acquired at no charge. Popular apps including
YouTube, Facebook, and Discord are also able to be blocked by the bug.

Given the high number of complaints about the
bug, it is probable that Apple is working on
some form of patch that fixes it in a future
operating system update, though that may take
time. Apple has also seemingly attempted a
temporary fix in the form of reissued app
updates , though this will not necessarily
work for every app affected by the problem, nor for all users.

Fixes for the problem fundamentally involve
removing the app from the device, then
reinstalling it. While users could simply
delete the app manually and reacquire it from
the App Store, this can lead to lost app data,
or at the very least needing to reauthenticate with the app itself.

There is a way of accomplishing the same thing
while preserving the app data, which involves
offloading apps . Offloading apps will delete
apps from the device, but preserve any
user-specific data, including files created by
the app, so the app will be ready to go from
the state of when it was last used once it is back on the device.

App offloading can be set to run
automatically, making it a great way to
preserve the storage capacity of an iPhone or
iPad, but the solution here requires going down the manual route.

Manual Offloading Once you know of an app that
is affected by the bug, head to the Settings
app, then enter General , then iPhone Storage
or iPad Storage . Scroll down the page to find
the app in question, and select it.

On the new screen, which shows the app's size
and documents and data size, select Offload
App . A confirmation dialog will appear,
requiring you to select Offload App once again.

Once selected the app will delete.

Offloading and reinstalling takes a few taps,
but keeps your data intact unlike normal
deletion. Stay on the same page, and select
the new Reinstall App option where Offload App
was previously located. This will re-download the app to the device.

Further Notes Given the potentially high
number of apps that may be affected, it is
advised to conduct this process while on
Wi-Fi, rather than using cellular data connections.

Re: YouTube Issue

2020-05-27 Thread Lisa Belville
does that work if you've seen other videos?  I thought it moved you back
to the previous video unless you are in the first video since opening
the app.  If it's the first video you're viewing after opening the app,
the previous button is dimmed, at least it is for me.  I'm using Ios 13
on the original SE.

Needed, an app to tell you quickly how fast you are walking

2020-05-27 Thread Eric Caron
Hi Listers,

I need to know if there is an app that tracks your walking speed and
can tell you how fast you are walking and adjust as you speed up and slow down.
It needs to work more quickly than say Blind square.

I’m told an app called motion X did this but is no longer available.

Tips and ideas are greatly appreciated.

YouTube and VoiceOver

Hello Listers,

When watching a video on youTube, with voiceOver, how can i skik backward and
forward, or return to the beginning. When I go to the track position, and swipe
up or down with one finger as in other video APPS, the position of the video is
adjusted, but not in YouTube. Is there a gesture I haven't found specific to
YouTube? Thanks for any help on this.

RE: Scanner Bin, scanning stand

2020-05-27 Thread Cris Ali
Hello Richard,
I wonder if you have the instruction on how to use the Fopydo scan stand in a
text file? I bought this thing and have no idea how to use it effectively. Do I
need a source of light? Where do you I position the lamp? How to extend the
height, etc.
If you have the instruction I will extremely appreciate it.

This sounds awesome! Is this the best scanner stand you guys have found? I
think there was another one called danny boy or something like that? I think I
recall that one being metal, but I never got it. Is this one cheaper? There may
even be other stands, does anyone have an actual list? I'm finally going to
purchase one, and I'd love to get a good one. thanks!

Greetings,
I learned recently about a new scanning stand called, ScannerBin.
I had been corresponding with the inventor and asked for instructions for the
assembly that a person who is blind or low-vision could follow. He did that.
I received it today and by following his instructions, assembled it on the
first try.
It ends up being a cardboard bin that you can drop loose papers, receipts,
whatever you want to scan eventually into and then turn it on one side with the
square cut out on top; place your camera over that hole, and flatten things out
on the bottom of the bin and scan away.
He provides a clear plastic sheet with a cut out in it to help keep pages flat
if they were folded or wrinkled.
The cut out means the clear plastic shouldn’t produce glare that would mess up
the scan.
I am duely impressed.
I added the following to my web site:

ScannerBin

Scanner Bin is a device that can double as a bin to store papers or receipts to
be scanned, then turned on its side and used as a scanning stand.
I just received this new scanning stand, and assembled it without sighted
assistance by following his video instructions for blind/visually impaired
customers.
Its brilliant!
Common Uses:

• As a tool that enables the visually impaired to read letters
• Scan a stack of paper or a notebook in under a minute
• Scan receipts for returns, insurance records, HSA, FSA
• Students use it to digitize their notes
• Scan family pictures
• Real-estate agents complete deals from anywhere
• Professional drivers scan receipts right in their vehicle
• Professional organizers (NAPO) and their clients
• Property managers scan invoices
• Trade-show warriors
• Small business owners

Portable
Folds flat and weighs only 11 ounces.
Alignment Bumpers
Attach alignment bumpers to match your device to the Scanner Bin
Flat Sheet
The Flat Sheet is used to flatten your folded receipts and letters. The center
cut
out eliminates glare from the camera flash and is useful for positioning
documents.

Hello list
I installed the youtube app (not the youtube music app) but it seems to be

2020-05-27 Thread Kay Malmquist
I am using 12.4 and it is happening to me. Yes, if someone knows how to
report this I'd appreciate the info. One thing I am going to do is see on
this phone if I turn off voice over if the same thing still happens. I
suspect not, because if this were the case, there would be many more people
noticing it.

OK, how do you report this bug to YouTube? It's a pain to have to
restart the video to get back to the place you want to rewind to if
you need something repeated. I recently upgraded to 13.5 and am
wondering whether it's an IOS thing or an app thing.

Thanks,
Dani, glad it's not just happening to me

Hello list
I installed the youtube app (not the youtube music app) but it seems to be

When you go through the process of placing your order, the last step is the

I believe the last button is not a percentage, but a specific amount that is
an edit box.
Just check on one of those buttons to check the one you want to choose, or the

Instacard bases its tipping on what you tipped when you first started using the

Carolyn, I'm just curious, what model of phone is that kyozera phone that's
a bar phone, I haven't heard of that. I just know of the 2 flip phones the

Kyocera Dura ia a feature phone. It is not a flip phone; it is a candy bar
phone. It has buttons to use for dialing and menus.

I like first name first as well. I've also heard different theories on how
many contacts you should have on your phone. Someone told me you should only
have 100, well others said you could have as many as possible. I would like
to know what you folks think. Some of my disappear and I have to re-enter
them. I don't know what causes this. Thanks everyone. Esther

That setting is under settings, contacts.
Do you want it to alphabetize by last name, but show first then last in
the list?

That used to be the default, but check in your settings to be sure.

Re: How Do You Change Your Contacts in the Way They Show in Section Index?

2020-05-27 Thread Arlene
Esther, possibly someone may have answered your question already about the
kyosera dura xv
which is a flip phone, it's one of the more rugged flip phones that costs
about $264. and it's amoungst some other phones that are quite accessible with
the text to speech. Especially when it comes to
writing texts, emails, and writing in the notepade since you could easily get
to the options for the lower case letters, upper case letters, for the symbols,
and numbers.
I have the cadence, another flip phone made by kyozera and never had any loss
of contacts.
As far as our iPhones, they each have 300 contacts and never lost any of the
contacts.

To get the first name first, I went to Contacts in Settings, and I think

everything imported like I had it.

Re: Broken time adjustment in YouTube app

2020-05-27 Thread dani pagador
OK, how do you report this bug to YouTube? It's a pain to have to
restart the video to get back to the place you want to rewind to if
you need something repeated. I recently upgraded to 13.5 and am
wondering whether it's an IOS thing or an app thing.

Thanks,
Dani, glad it's not just happening to me
