Janet, I used Alexa's Drop-In feature when I took my vacation to California.
Once I reached my friends home, I connected to her wifi. I would drop in
several times a day to listen for any unusual noises & our home door security
alarms. We use the Ring video camera, which connects to Alexa &
Hi Richard, I looked up the app, and it's just says intercom for Sonos. However
whenever I clicked on it to share it with you, it did not let me connect to the
App Store. So I am assuming that the app is no longer available on the App
Store.

Richard, I find that you need to be close to the Wi-Fi router in order to use
it. That is part of the delay. It shouldn't be more than 10 seconds of a Joe
delay. And as far as the drop in thing, yeah that would work better if you were
away from home. I thought you guys were just wanting

Hi,
Dropbox links work fine. I prefer Airdrop because it’s as simple as sending an
attachment, the file doesn’t need to live in a service like Dropbox or iCloud
taking up space, and it’s easy for the recipient to deal with as well.

Greetings,
The WalkAssist app is now back in the app store and has some improvements for
newer phones where it had a slow response time. You may find you have to
redownload the app even if you have the old version still on your phone.
They are working on making it also work in Portrait mode.
For whatever it’s worth, I at one point had an app which I believe was called
Sonovid or something like that and the Intercom via Sonos did work quite well
but of course it was just announcement only because this was years ago when
most of my speakers didn’t even have microphones. But as for
Hi.
The several seconds delay has been going on before digital technology was
thought of. I remember hearing of it in the 1970’s. If something happened that
the show didn’t want heard from a caller, the famous dump button was pressed,
and there would either be a few seconds of dead air, or a
Kevin, that’s my understanding as well. If you have ever called a talk show

I remember going to a college basketball game a few years ago. I thought it
would be nice to take a radio with me to keep up with the action. It didn’t
work. There was about a fifteen second delay between the action and what was
heard on commercial radio. I wasn’t sure why, but this wasn’t
Sieghard,
Sonos still has no support for the Alexa Drop-in service. That is really sad.
And, as you may have seen, my later note on this intercom for Sonos app points
out that the delay using this app is ridiculous at best.
The Drop-in with Alexa makes it a true intercom that is without
Yes, there are actually multiple apps which can turn a Sonos system into an
intercom, but this is not what I meant.
I was referring specifically to Alexa Drop-In which works between speakers like
the Echo Dot, Show and so on, but I am pretty sure it still does not work via
Sonos.
For me
I am finding it isn’t worth paying for, or even for free.
The delay from when you engage the microphone to when what you said goes over
the speakers is very long.

Yes this is the app that I'm speaking of. I didn't know it could be used with
other speakers. Now here's how to figure out how that works. I'll have to play
with the app. I got it whenever it was free. I'm glad I got it whenever I did.

This is a new thread in response to Joseph’s message about an app for turning
Sonos speakers into an intercom.
It turns out, other speakers can be used as well.
See below.
I found this by searching for intercom Sonos iOS app store.
Intercom for Sonos, HEOS ... 4+
Intercom for WiFi
Also, if the person has an Android phone then by default they do have
access to Google services such as Drive etc. The file could be sent to
them via Google Drive.

We are going to try to explain the delay experienced in internet radio
streaming. The audio can be up to five minutes behind what comes out of the

You can if you open the Amazon Alexa app first and have it set to be listening.
But, no, you cannot just say that because the app is on the phone.

Wait a minute, before you go advertising that you can't use the intercom
feature via a Sonos speaker, actually you can. There's an app called intercom,
that works for the Sonos speakers. So if you have an iPhone or an android, all
you have to do is open up that app, and you can make

One thing that I learned through the signing up for SiriusXM is that there is 2
platinum plans. The regular platinum plan which in addition to streaming, also
includes an actual radio like in a car or one you keep in your house, and the
platinum streaming plan, which only includes streaming.
