RE: Arabic Keyboard Doesn't Come Up?

2022-09-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Are you sure you are looking in the right place? To bring up the emoji keyboard
you have to find the "Emoji" button, you cannot select it using the button for
"next keyboard"/.
Visually the emoji button is between Numbers and the Spacebar, the "next
keyboard" button is below numbers sort of by itself on the left whereas on the
right on the very bottom is "Dictate".
Just above from left to right is "Numbers", "Emoji", Space" and "Return".

Subject: Arabic Keyboard Doesn't Come Up?

Hi, Group.
In my iPhone 8 and 12, I have added 3 keyboards; Emogis, Arabic and English US.
It works just fine in iPhone8 but Arabic Keyboard does not show up in iPhone12.
How can I fix this, please?
Thanks!

Have you tried to simply turn the rotor to volume and then flick up to raise
Voiceover volume. I have a feeling that your problem is simply that Voiceover
volume has gotten turned very low.

Hi,
I’m curious what your hearing aids are configured as under Bluetooth settings
on your iPhone. I know the behavior of speakers and headphones change if a
speaker is set to headphones via its configuration so thought I would bring
that up. You can go to iPhone settings, Bluetooth settings, find your hearing
aids and swipe up to find more info double tap, and then choose device type. I
would try to set them as headphones, if not other and see if that changes
anything. If anything, play with the different settings.

So, that is exactly what I did, only when bringing it up, no Voiceover.
Jim tried to help me, but we were in a mess. I called Apple Accessibility and
got a magically helpful lady named Angela. With her thinking out of the box, we
finally got it back; I had to tell Jim what to punch in for my passcode. Then,
VOILA, along came Voiceover. It happened that I had Screen Curtain on, so I
turned it off, and Jim could see that it looked all right. So I had to punch my
24-character Apple ID, finally got it back.

She got us to press Power Button and Volume Down to try to get it back
on. That did work. Actually, then, we waited quite a long time, before bringing
the phone back up. I think she realized that probably my phone was on, but that
I did not know it, so turn off, then give good wait, and bring it up again. I
don’t know what would have happened if Jim hadn’t been here and willing to fool
with it.

I told her that the Voiceover sound not being easily heard had been a
problem for some time, which was the reason that I turned my phone off. It is
working now, even Evan came back. I’ve heard some say that their phone
defaulted to Samantha.

Incidentally, while in this pickle, I called the phone from our
landline. It rang, but, I could not answer it.

I have just tried with earbuds with Bluetooth off, and stil have to
struggle to hear anything on the screen while on a call.

Such are some of the vagaries of iOS 16.

I am not sure why this is, I have received a couple of messages which were not
in my contacts and I could delete them as always, flick down to delete and
double tap it, the I was asked if I really wanted to do that and once I
confirmed that was it, no message or prompt to report them as spam or anything

can’t and I don’t want to put these numbers in my contacts.
Before this update I deleted them delete, but now I have to tap once more to
not report as junk. They are lots and lots, more time consuming and more pain

I just did this on my 13 pro.

  1. Deleting a message from someone in my contacts acted the same as always.
  2. Deleting one from a number not in my contacts, offered the usual delete
button, then popped up the you can report this as junk message, I flicked right
to don’t report and double tapped.

Yes, that adds a layer, but it doesn’t seem that difficult and it is a nice
feature if you are dealing with junk/spam text messages.

There is nothing new in settings to deal with this.

If you don’t like it, I suggest writing to Apple Accessibility and request the
ability to turn that on or off, or have a checkbox to never ask me again.

In the previous version, it didn’t ask me this question. I just deleted them.
Now, besides having to delete one by one, I have to tap several times to get

RE: Re: iphone app to check blood pressure

2022-09-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
There is no way to measure blood pressure without a cuff which inflates. OK,
maybe if you were hooked up on life support or something like that it might be
possible, but there is a reason why at doctors offices and even in hospitals
they use this method.

Having said this, there is the Qardio Arm which is a wireless cuff which
connects to your iPhone via Bluetooth and you can then use the Qardio app to
start the process and read the results, but it will still inflate and put
pressure on your upper arm.

Best regards,
Sieghard

Are you kidding me I'd love that! Seriously I'd love that! Have you ever
experienced a blood pressure cuff that squeezed again before it had even
completely let up because there was an error like you had it too low on your
arm or something? That's happened to me numerous times, but the last time it
did that, it squeezed so hard and it seemed to take a long time before it
stopped, and I don't think it's considered claustrophobia because when you're
claustrophobic, you feel scared in a confined space, but I felt like I would
never get my arm out ever again. I got so scared my mom had to come over and
press on the power button I guess it is, so the air would go out and the cuff
would let up. If there would be an app, that would be fantastic! Please, let me
know! Thanks.

Are you kidding me I'd love that! Seriously I'd love that! Have you ever
experienced a blood pressure cuff that squeezed again before it had even
completely let up because there was an error like you had it too low on
your arm or something? That's happened to me numerous times, but the
last time it did that, it squeezed so hard and it seemed to take a long
time before it stopped, and I don't think it's considered claustrophobia
because when you're claustrophobic, you feel scared in a confined space,
but I felt like I would never get my arm out ever again. I got so scared
my mom had to come over and press on the power button I guess it is, so
the air would go out and the cuff would let up. If there would be an
app, that would be fantastic! Please, let me know! Thanks.

I think Samantha, but I am not sure. Reading through the latest posts, it seems
to be happening more and more. Yet, I know somebody who was on the public beta
with a regular iphone 13, that says it has never happened to him. When he heard
about the experience of the person who was the subject of my message, he turned
his 13 off, and it came back on with no problem. Who knows.

I have a friend, who has a 13 Pro, that experienced the same issue as described
earlier. He turned it off overnight, and this morning, VoiceOver would not
respond when he turned it on. Neither turning up the volume, nor doing the
three-finger double tap would fix it. He said the clicks he heard when touching
the screen were not the clicks heard when speech simply had been turned off.
He had to get a sighted person to enter his pass code before it would work. He
is a good iphone user, he said that nothing he tried would get it to work. I
hope these are isolated incidents, I put it out there for others to test. He
said that he had had no problem with IOS 16, until this incident.

The phone can't do it by itself, or even the watch. The Qardio Arm is a
hardware device with a traditional BP cuff that wraps around your upper arm,
and communicates with an app on your phone via Bluetooth.

Subject: iphone app to check blood pressure

Hello, all:
Is there an app I can use with an IPhone that would help check blood pressure.
I found two talking blood pressure machines which were not as accurate as my
primary care doctor's whose monitor doesn't speak audibly. This is quite
frustrating since my blood pressure can fluctuate.
The other question is would I need to purchase an Apple watch or just use some
type of app strictly with the phone? Thanks in advance.

You would want a blood pressure monitor that works with wi-fi or Bluetooth. I
think most are wi-fi whose apps are accessible.

I cannot remember the brand I have and it is doable by a blind person, but
tricky to set up.

One that gets lots of positive reviews used to be called the Wythins or
something like that.

I am sure someone will reply with more useful info, but there are ones out that
are workable. Plan to spend probably close to $100.

one more phone that won't talk

2022-09-15 Thread deidreandlouise
Why would voice over not come up just because a phone was
locked, especially when it is set to activate Siri even if the phone is
locked? Why would the clicks be louder thatn the tone? I guess that was
deliberate on the part of apple, but then when I first rebooted my phone after
updating, or it rebooted itself, the Siri sound was very loud and then the
clicks were not. Why did voice over not accompany those other sounds at a
similar volume, even if the volume had been accidentally lowered or
muted?updathe v

The only solution to these hick ups with entering passcodes when the phone
stops talking, were this to be a regular happening, would be to open the phone
with a fingerprint or facial recognition. As for me, I do no banking or
purchasing through my phone, and though I have saved some passwords that would
be visible to a nosey intruder, I don't even want to lock my phone. My phone is
never outside my apartment unless I am wearing it on my body. I have never left
a phone behind me anywhere where a stranger had had to kindly reunite it with
me, or a less virtuous character steal off with it.

The fewer strokes or gestures or touch of the phone, the better.
I don't use Hey Siri either though that would be most convenient. I don't want
the added battery drain. I need to get a batter pack to extend the life of my
phone, but haven't made that call yet, and it took awhile before I found out to
look under Accessories on the Apple page to be in the right area to find them.

What I am happy about with this update is that the apps I use
daily have not changed in structure so I don't have to take great note of new
names for things. All the renaming of simple Tabs used to drive me crazy. I
jumped from 14 something to 16 and other than the initial gliches, it's ok,
except that the tone for when Siri is listening is impossible to hear nless I
turn the volume of Siri up a tad beyond what I find desirable.

RE: Another Phone That Won't Talk After Reboot

2022-09-15 Thread Carolyn
Mine did too after I updated it. I just turned it off today, because I was
hoping it could get my Voiceover in sync so that I could hear it, while on a
phone conversation, but after all that went down, it did not do one thing for
Voiceover.

Could someone tell me where I send an email to Apple to describe my problem,
please?

One thing I did not mention in my original message. After my friend had the
sighted person enter his pass code and his phone came back on, then his watch
was all messed up. Apple accessibility told him to do a forced restart of the
watch, and it fixed it. So, when this happens to the phone, until they can get
it figured out, I wonder if doing a forced restart of it, then turning it back
on would work? I mean, there may not be a sighted person around to enter that

Hi,
I’m curious what your hearing aids are configured as under Bluetooth settings
on your iPhone.

2022-09-15 Thread Arnold Schmidt

said that he had had no problem with IOS 16, until this incident.

RE: problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Carolyn
Thank goodness, Jim was here and able to help me. Otherwise, I have no idea in
the world what a solution would have been.

I think they surely will work some of these bugs out pretty soon, especially if
enough of us bug them. I might try to find out where to email my complaint
about the Voiceover problem I'm having while on a phone call. So, if I need to
give a phone number to someone, I have to struggle to hear anything in my
contacts to try to find the contact, and then the number.

Carolyn, You will need a sighted person to enter your phone passcode for you.
Some people have reported once they regain access to their phone changing their
passcode the no voiceover on the lock screen after powering off the phone goes
away. Others still continue to have the problem with no voiceover speech after
powering off their phone. I have opted not to use a passcode, this includes
face & fingerprint ID, which both require a passcode after a power off of the
device. Hopefully, Apple will release a fix to this very annoying bug in the
coming week or two.

I did reach out to my bank, and am currently waiting to hear back from

How can I fix this, please?

Thanks!

RE: email reminders on iOS 16

2022-09-15 Thread Richard Turner
Hi Ryan,
I tried it for 1n hour later, and then for about 6 minutes later after finding
the time picker at the bottom and both times the reminder sound played.

Maybe you had your mute on, or your reminder sound isn't loud or long enough?
This is on the 13 pro.
Now, if they would only use the same time picker in the email send later ...

Hello. iOS 16 has a feature where you can be reminded to read an email later.
I tried it and I cannot get it to work. I do the following:
Find an email or thread of emails I want to read.
Flick down until I get to the option to read later then double-tap.
I get choices of an hour later, tomorrow or read later. Since I want to select
a specific time, I double-tap on the choice for later.
The box comes up where I can choose a date and time. I double-tap on the
correct date.
In order to choose a specific time, I need to double-ta[p on the button that
says switch off or switch button off I can’t remember which.
After that, I can select an hour and minute.
After that, I double-tap on done.
After that, I am placed back in my Inbox.
I never get a reminder on the date and time I selected.
What step, if any am I missing?

Hi,
I’m curious what your hearing aids are configured as under Bluetooth settings
on your iPhone.

I have just tried with earbuds with Bluetooth off, and stil have to struggle to

Donna, one possible fix when the phone won't talk is to connect to your
computer. Once Itunes opens and settles, go to your phone and then to
accessibility options. if they are on, switch then of and on again.

Also, try cursing and swearing!

I had this problem with a message to. When I asked about it, they said to turn
my phone off and back on. I think sometimes things get stuck. Hope this helps

I have a strange problem deleting a message in iOS16.

I recently exchanged a number of messages with my brother who is an Android

I chose to delete the conversation in the usual way. However, the last message

message and I am told that it will be deleted from all devices. I confirm its
deletion but it simply cannot be deleted. No matter what I do I cannot remove

I have tried turning of Messages in iCloud, restarting my iPhone but it remains

that it’s not in my contacts and it’s not spam I automatically put them in my

email reminders on iOS 16

2022-09-15 Thread Ryan Mann
Hello. iOS 16 has a feature where you can be reminded to read an email later.

Problem with Iphone SE 2022 and IOS 16

2022-09-15 Thread danamarieleet
I do not use a password.

But twice since updating, my phone decides to just randomly stop responding.

The weird thing is, that I am certain it is not completely off as I can tap
the home button 3 times, but nothing happens. Siri does not respond at all.

The up and down volume buttons respond and it lets me do a restart wherein I
hold down the up and down button and the side button till it restarts and
then works again.

I have not gotten anyone to see the screen when this happened both times,
the only thing I do know is that the phone was locked.

RE: problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Rena
My problem is that I receive lots of text messages from my volunteer work. I
can’t and I don’t want to put these numbers in my contacts.

Before this update I deleted them delete, but now I have to tap once more to
not report as junk. They are lots and lots, more time consuming and more pain
in my finger.

RE: anyone have any experience using locked screen widget

2022-09-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello Christopher,

Thanks for the explanations, I tried this last night and couldn't get anywhere,
I saw bits of text on the screen and while I did see things like "Top widget"
or "Add widget" nothing seemed to work correctly.
I just tried again after I read Christopher's message and it was the same
thing, then I remembered to check if screen recognition was turned on and for
some reason it surely was. Once I turned it off everything appeared as he
described so if you get gibberish on that screen or in any app make sure to
check screen recognition is not on. I have it on my rotor because it can be of
great help in some situations, but it can also mess things up in already
accessible apps.

Subject: RE: anyone have any experience using locked screen widget

I got a chance to play with it last night, and I think I figure it all out. I
had to recycle my phone though, since it was acting flaky when I was messing
with my lock screen. For example, trying to delete a screen didn't work at all.
Everything sorted itself out after I restarted the phone though.

Here are some brief tips if anyone else is interested.

On the lock screen double tap and hold or triple tap on something other than an
object that will take an action, like the time. If you do this on the
flashlight or camera button then you activate those objects.

Now you'll get a list of lock screens. The first and default lock screen
doesn't have a name though, so you'll just hear "activate to set as default
screen." To get started with a new lock screen, double tap on "Add new lock
screen wallpaper." You can also flick up or down on a lock screen to customize
it or delete it.

When adding a new lock screen you'll get a list of options. They're pretty well
described. The screens at the top in the featured section are already
configured with widgets, so you can double tap on them to see what widgets you
get or customize them if you want to. With the lock screens in other sections
you're dealing with blank lock screens where you can add widgets from scratch.

When double tapping one of these options, or customizing one of your existing
lock screens, you'll end up in the dialog where you can configure your lock
screen. As Trea says, you have one large widget at the top and between two to
four smaller widgets on the bottom. A square widget equals two circular
widgets, so you can have two square widgets, one square widget and two circular
widgets or four circular widgets. Double tap the add top widget and select your
top widget. Tap add widget and choose your two to four bottom widgets. Once you
start adding bottom widget, you'll have options at the top to delete the
widgets you've added. Once you reach your maximum you'll be told you need to
delete a widget before you can add another one. You also have a picker at the
bottom where you can change the wallpaper to another in that group, such as
moon instead of earth.

When you're done, make sure you tap on add or done or close. At the end you'll
be given a choice of either set as pair or customize home screen. I'm not sure
but I think the set as pair option means you'll be using this wallpaper across
all of your home screens and customize your home screen means you'll get to
choose the color of your home screens.

After you've added a lock screen, you'll see a focus button next to each lock
screen when you bring up your list of lock screens. I haven't played with this,
but this is to associate a lock screen with a particular focus, so for example,
you may want one lock screen when you're at work and another one when you're
home.

What I've written above is still pretty sketchy, so you'll definitely need to
play around with things to get it all down. It is analogous to working with
faces on your Apple Watch, but you have a lot more options on the Apple Watch,
and I find the process to be a bit smoother. Good luck and feel free to correct
or add to anything I've said above.

Not sure yet. I'm still playing around with what I want my lock screen(s) to
look like, and once I settle on something then I'll need some time to monitor
the battery life.

2022-09-15 Thread Richard Turner

Re: problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
I have a strange problem deleting a message in iOS16.I recently exchanged a number of messages with my brother who is an Android user.I chose to delete the conversation in the usual way.  However, the last message I sent to him remained on my phone.  I have tried to delete this individual message and I am told that it will be deleted from all devices.  I confirm its deletion but it simply cannot be deleted.  No matter what I do I cannot remove it.I have tried turning of Messages in iCloud, restarting my iPhone but it remains on my device.  I can remove it from my Apple Watch but not from my iPhone.Malcolm ParfittOn 15 Sep 2022, at 15:36, regina alvarado wrote:I think I misunderstood you. And remember there is now a recently deleted when deleting conversations
from the messages app. You'll find this by hitting the edit button at
the top left part of the screen. You can delete all messages or
individual conversations. It retains them for 30 days just like the
photos app.

problem with deleting text messages

2022-09-15 Thread Rena
Hello,

After the update, every time I delete a text message, it says

You can report this conversation as junk .

I click don't report

And I have to tap on don't report again.

Is there any way to eliminate this report or don't report issue?

Rena

Have you tried using the rotor to deploy to the “containers “focus? I know that
has helped me with several other apps.

BTW: The two issues I brought up yesterday - unable to delete a contact and
unable to switch between email accounts - apparently was solved, as suggested
by Dedra, by rebooting my iPhone eight.

However, I am still reluctant to load iOS 16 .0 onto my iPhone SE.

Another Phone That Won't Talk After Reboot

2022-09-15 Thread Arnold Schmidt

Which bank app? If someone else uses the same bank they are more likely to be
able to help.
Also, did you update the app since a lot of apps are coming out with updates

Subject: Major problem after updating to 16

Hello everyone,

I updated my iPhone 12 Mini yesterday, to IOS 16. It all went very smoothly for
me, which I am very thankful for. I haven't really ran into any problems.
Such as, the different bugs I have read about.

However, I just discovered a huge problem, and I don't know if there is
anything I can do about it.

My banking App is now not as accessible. I can see my accounts, and what money
is available.

However, when I go into an account to view the transactions, I get a lot of
different images, and words such as coupon, and other words. None of it makes
much sense, in all honesty.

I tried turning on screen recognition to see if this would make much of a
difference. I could then see some of the transactions. But this didn't seem to
happen consistently. Also, everything kind of seem ran together.

There are tabs at the bottom of the screen. I can still view these.

However, when I choose one, then all the buttons are images, and words again.
This was nether the case before.

What can I do, if anything?

I will definitely reach out to Apple. As well as my bank.

But might anyone have any thoughts as to how I can possibly use the App, until
it is back closer to the way it was?

This is rather frustrating. But even more, this is an App that I most
definitely need to be able to use, with as much ease as possible.

Thank you,

Terri

I O S 16.0

2022-09-15 Thread Noe Villeda
I have an iPhone 10r and I've noticed the following when listening to music
on the iPhone.

If the screen is locked, and I pause the song, before, I could swipe down to
adjust the track position to 0 seconds to back to the beginning of the song.

With I O S 16, you can no longer scroll down to adjust the track position,
when the song is paused.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

That's what I did to get Bruce back and a couple of others. I'm not

RE: anyone have any experience using locked screen widget

2022-09-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain

Sorry, no time at the moment, working late, tomorrow early… Maybe tomorrow
evening, but I think you will succeed, I didn’t find it very difficult, once
you know what is possible. One widget at the top, four circles below, or two
bigger ones.

One more thing about voices; a few of them have demos, but when you got
to download

either they were corrupt or not available because you got Samantha back.

A lot of us however do use our phone's speaker out of pleasure or
necessity all the time though.

If you use your iPhone's built in speaker, then eloquence doesn't
sound good.  However, if you use a bluetooth speaker or headset, it
sounds fine. I pretty much always use some kind of bluetooth speaker
or headset with my phone.  I hardly ever just use my phones speaker to
do things.

Well, I used to use Eloquence on my PC and then I switched to eSpeak
when I was using Linux. Now that I’m an old man, I figure I deserve a
nice quality voice, and I’m not in a hurry like I was when I wore a
younger man’s clothes!

Her voice sounds really good. Premium quality is amazing on some of
those voices that offer all three voice types. By the way, it was kind
of funny to read your message. Christopher with the good news, voice
singing your whole email message quite interesting. Indeed I switched
it to eloquence though, because then I can hear it at a much faster
speed that I’m used to reading emails in on my windows, computer. I
usually have it set to 70% on my computer if you were wondering.
