Multiple people can view a single PC but VNC has never provided multiple
independent sessions in the 7 or so years I've been using it.

thing to be careful about is even if you were able to get multiple
sessions running on a single PC, if your POS sofware doesn't support multiple
users you might end up having problems and corrupting your POS transactions or
database.

All the technology I know of for remote terminal stuff is not very cost
effective for a single terminal. Unless you have more than one to setup, a
cheap / used PC would probably be the better choice if all you want it for is
running a VNC session.

There are vendors of dinky little PCs for tight, hot spots. I looked at them
for an application but it didn't work out but I was impressed by the selection.
Here's a link to one that had a pretty broad selection of options.

Make sure your DOS app runs in a window and not full screen.

I believe any screen capture utility will work with VNC. I use MWSnap, a
freeware utility that does everything I can thing of.

I'm sure other utilities would work as well.

Setup a system with the options and password the way you want it and then go
into regedit and export the HKLM and HKLU VNC settings and then import them
on the target system(s). It's been a long time since I experimented with inno
but I would think it handles registry settings.

I'm betting you're DOS application is running in Full Screen Mode. If you or
someone can access the PC directly, run the DOS app and then hit CTRENTER
and that should toggle the app into a Window that should display in VNC.

removed v4.1 and re-installed v4.0 and the problem stopped
entirely.
I didn't see any mention of this in the v4.1 Known Bugs page at RealVNC.
Has anyone else seen this?

examples, they represent well-meaning individuals
circumventing company security.
As an administrator, I'd be worried about showing employees how to
by-pass security because it's convenient to do so. Who's to control
their access after that?

Just copy the above to a text file and rename it something like
VNC.REG and then opposite mouse click it and select Merge and that
should do it.

this and would like to do remote admin work on them
with vnc, but this won't work well if vncserver doesn't start until after the
Novell login.

We're doing exactly this right now. If you run VNC as a service, it
launches prior to the login.

Everybody's situation varies. If all you have is a handful of
workstations and your own to manage, no big deal. However, if you have a
lot of users (I have 85), it's not practical to rely on the end user to
install software. In fact, it's something I like to discourage more
often than not.
. we cannot connect until we log on again to the novell
server. is there a way around this?
