Severin, I had a look and mine had gone too. I changed it to another
view, then back to print layout view, and there they are again. I
don't have an explanation, but its worth trying in case it restores

Hi Rod, when I checked the preference, status bar was checked, so it
seemed like changing the view sort of reset my preferences correctly.

To be correct the control+tab is a Unix/Linux derivative so in actual
fact OS X being Unix based it did not steal from M$

turning the Firewire drive off, leaving the computer powered off for
at least 8 hours, then starting back up again and resuming normal
