[Bug 25972] WikiEditor crashes on Pasting
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25972 ad...@juniorwiki.org changed: What|Removed |Added Severity|blocker |normal --- Comment #4 from ad...@juniorwiki.org 2011-01-12 09:03:20 UTC --- I understand: there were four loving people who were not too keen on caring about their work? Do I get that right? Honestly, thanks for pointing me to the right direction, although the problem is not to be solved. And sad to hear that the work spent on stabilizing still leads to some problems, at least for some users. I turned the toc off, now the browser doesn't crash anymore. I'm lowering priority to normal. But two problems still exist. The first is that when pasting the editor adds lots of white-spaces, about 2 per line. And the second is that all the breaks within the pasted text get lost, no matter what origin it comes from (notepad++, wiki). When pasted into the WikiEditor, there will be only one (huge) section. If you had another useful hint to get along with that, I would be grateful. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25972 --- Comment #5 from Trevor Parscal tpars...@wikimedia.org 2011-01-12 17:30:06 UTC --- Where are you copying the content from? We built a copy-paste matrix at one point, identifying the behavior of copying from various sources on various platforms to various browsers. There were lots of issues around copying from rich text editors like Wordpad, Microsoft Word, etc. and into some but not all browsers. I don't recall firefox being the most stubborn of these, but you may have hit on a problem combination. Also, pasting is much more reliable with the Navigable Table of Contents module turned off (with the textarea rather than iframe implementation). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26663 --- Comment #2 from Michael Dale d...@ucsc.edu 2011-01-12 18:06:22 UTC --- We did originally work on getting oggz_chop ( server side video segmentation) integrated on Wikimedia but ultimately were not successful in integration because of scalability concerns. We were successful in helping get it integrated at InternetArchive.org see a blog post I wrote about the feature a while back http://metavid.org/blog/?p=191 What can easily add to the Timed Media Handler is http based seeks. This would seek to the start time then stop at the end time ( but the browser would buffer more than it needs since there is presently no way in the HTML5 spec to stop the video from buffering ). But it would be a good start, and depending on how the temporal url standard develops and the amount of time and interest we can upgrade the http based seek system to better handle start / end times. Will update this bug once I have the feature in the TimedMediaHandler code -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23343] Allow blocking open proxies based on X-Forwarded-For header
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23343 Marcin Cieślak marcin.cies...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||marcin.cies...@gmail.com --- Comment #8 from Marcin Cieślak marcin.cies...@gmail.com 2011-01-13 01:37:58 UTC --- The way I understand this bug is that XFF IP addresses should be checked for blocking *irrespective* the trusted XFF list. In August 2010 checkusers saw example of the email spammer that used 19 different IP addresses plus 4 /24 networks and 1 /network full of proxies. But he only had 4 different IP addresses in his XFF headers from a single /16 range of the dynmic IP provider. Many of those proxies where some located on some dynamic DSL loatons of unknown provenience, so that marking them as trusted would be a recipe for disaster. We don't know whether they allow for private IP addresses, we don't know if they allow fake XFF to be passsed over etc. Besides I don't believe that TrustedXFF list could (and should) be edited and deployed so quickly to fight abuse like this. This feature could possibly be enabled by default - there is little damage if someone fakes their XFF header and happens to use a blocked IP address, so be it. It could become problematic with RFC1918 addresses - for example a non-wikimedia wiki that wishes to block some local user 192.168.0.0/24 would be effectively be blocking all poor RFC1918 souls behind some proxies on the whole Internet. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 26702] Parent categories are not shown (listed) on subcategory pages
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26702 --- Comment #2 from Paine Ellsworth pain...@aol.com 2011-01-13 02:58:42 UTC --- (ec) Of course, I speak of a list *above* the listed population in the same manner as parents list their subcategories. In most skins parents are shown at the bottom rather than near the top, where they would be more obvious, the same way that subcategories are very obvious when listed on their parent pages. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26703 --- Comment #3 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2011-01-13 03:17:28 UTC --- While first of all you should be using quickUserCan('create') not quickUserCan('createtalk'). (The permission is called createtalk, but you're checking if the user can create not that they can createtalk) Secondly, it is expected you check both edit and create, not just create. neither userCan( 'create' ) nor quickUserCan( 'create' ) check if you can edit, only if you can create the page. Arguably thats a little counter-intuitive, but thats the way it currently is. For reference to anyone else reading this, the relevant edit that i reverted was http://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Manual:Preventing_accessdiff=prevoldid=375514 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26703 --- Comment #4 from jida...@jidanni.org 2011-01-13 03:42:55 UTC --- (In reply to comment #3) While first of all you should be using quickUserCan('create') not quickUserCan('createtalk'). (The permission is called createtalk, but you're checking if the user can create not that they can createtalk) No, I'm only interested in the talk pages, as you see further down: if(!$sktemplate-mTitle-quickUserCan('createtalk')){ foreach(array_keys($links['namespaces']) as $ns){ if(strpos($ns,'talk')!==false){ On the manual page you say Note: Revoking the 'edit' right already prevents affected users from creating new pages and talk pages. (which doesn't tell the user the exact code you mean too, by the way.) However quickUserCan('createtalk') says otherwise. Secondly, it is expected... One cannot know what is expected. One only reads the manual page. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 26703] quickUserCan() vs. createtalk vs. edit
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26703 --- Comment #5 from Bawolff bawolff...@gmail.com 2011-01-13 04:03:37 UTC --- if(strpos($ns,'talk')!==false){ Considering that a non-talk namespace is allowed to have talk in its name, and a talk namespace might not have talk in its name (Especially for non-english namespace names), thats not the correct check. but thats off topic. No, I'm only interested in the talk pages, as you see further down yes i knew that. I suppose you could use createtalk instead of create and a check that the title is a talk page, but everything in core seems to do userCan( 'create' ). On the manual page you say Note: Revoking the 'edit' right already prevents affected users from creating new pages and talk pages. While i didn't say that, someone else did, but the sentence is correct. However quickUserCan('createtalk') says otherwise. like its supposed to. The sentence never said quickUserCheck('createtalk') will return false if user doesn't have edit rights. It said you can't create a talk page if you don't have edit rights. There is a very large difference. (Furthermore, that manual page is for people running mediawiki installs, not people writing php code, so talking about internals on that specific manual page would be inappropriate). - Last of all, what are you requesting be changed/be done? [Bug 26663] Request for selecting a portion of media for playback
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26663 --- Comment #3 from Theornamentalist theornamental...@gmail.com 2011-01-13 04:28:37 UTC --- (In reply to comment #2) We did originally work on getting oggz_chop ( server side video segmentation) integrated on Wikimedia but ultimately were not successful in integration because of scalability concerns. Will update this bug once I have the feature in the TimedMediaHandler code Thanks Michael. As an example of a way that this modification could help in verification on Wikisource (as seen, for example http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Babes_in_the_Wood), I've put together a page which features a silent film http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Daydreams. The time location seen on the left could link to the portion which is defined by the start and end times, and allow for Wikisource to validate either text which appears on screen or for the transcription of the audio. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l
