Companies like Avail and EchoStar (there has been some consolidation)
provide the raw streams. Organizations like NRTC (and maybe EchoStar) do
the licensing. There were others, but they didn't have a very good HD
channel lineup.
Trust me, I would love to find a way to do this without $500k
I believe UBNT has a box like this in the works. He was also interested in
integrating an ATA, but that would take a bit more work to get right, since
really only Sipura has been able to do that.

With the optional PS3 bluray remote the PS3 makes a pretty simple to
run bluray player and will have built in netflix soon. We all know
the ps3 is way better then the 360.

That is why my target is to just qualify for being a CATV operator (and my
target spots are the same, less then 15 channels, all but one is OTA).
Using multicast, all say, 20 channels will head out, no extra use per TV and no
VoD. (for the wireless network). This also assumes its a dedicated

We have licensed frequency BreezeMAX, and are not very fond of the
product. High latency and the lack of IP address on the remote units
are the main issues. I would buy them cheap, they are not that bad,
but wouldn't factor that much TCO reduction the vendor keeps telling

This is a KNOWN problem with CPQ/SL2 radios that run NAT. Tranzeo blames
having too many connections running bitorent, etc etc. But even on
machines without running P2P software this problem still persists. They say
that the NAT tables get full.
