It's not a two pin connector. It's a three pin. Tsk tsk. Assumptions. :)

I guarantee you it grounds to the electric plug... however... how it
grounds out on the plug is either really good... or horrible

I haven't had a chance to put a multimeter on the 120volt side of the
plug to confirm something... I'll update later.

Okay, so they say it is grounded through the power adapter in the QSG (which I
still don't believe) and then show how to ground it through some slots in the
side. I don't have one in front of me to see what it actually looks like, but
the rendering on the QSG doesn't lend itself to one inferring that's what the
slots are for.

haha

I'm curious how it is supposed to take ESD\non-direct lightning strikes from
the cat 5 shielding through positive or negative leads power leads and take it
to ground without impacting the internals of the ToughSwitch or creating a
grounding loop or other improper electrical wiring on the AC side.

Re: [WISPA] Anyone home

2013-05-22 Thread Josh Reynolds
The TS5 was designed to operate on 120v AC with the potential to work off a
24V battery bank, however the operating voltage is very narrow.

You can run off batteries as long as you have a voltage regulator and fuse
installed between the battery bank and the TS5, and be fine. I've done
this, and so have many others.

The TS-5 is a 24 volt DC unit intended to be run from a 120volt/220volt
to 24volt power supply.

By running directly off battery you need to do your own ground.

Ok.. wait what? How are you grounding the radios if not through the

I have the tower and most of the radios are grounded, which in turn would
more then likely ground the negative side of the DC. If not how do I ground
the TS-5

The TS-5 is a 24 volt DC unit intended to be run from a 120volt/220volt
to 24volt power supply.

By running directly off battery you need to do your own ground.

2013-05-22 Thread Matt Hoppes
Unless your battery pack negative is earth grounded... you aren't grounded.

The TS5 is intended to be run off of 120volts, which will ground through
the power plug to the electric system.

Alternately, there are two spade connectors on the back that you can
wire to your earth grounds at the tower.

That would be my guess as to why you are blowing ports.
