Re: [Xenomai-core] Xenomai

2009-03-23 Thread Bruno Rouchouse
Hi,
1/ Please check the support frame on www.xenomai.org and use the proper
mailing list: xenomai-help is the one you need to post to for this kind of
questions at first. It is totally suitable for configuration or compilation
issues.

2/ Adeos patch is not relevant in the case of the simulator. You can
build/use the simulator regardless of your target configuration.

3/ To answer your question now: Tix-4.1 is the problem here (API problem
with tixDirList:ListHierarchy). An easy way to build and make the simulator
work is to switch to an older distribution. Debian/Sarge is known to work
for instance. A good approach here is to use a qemu or a virtualbox that
runs on top of your host platform. If you benefit from a robust hardware
machine (at least Dual core or Core 2 Duo), you'll be able to have the
simulator run with a very low overhead.

I have already installed Xenomai- 2.4.7 along with libelf -0.8.10 , Tcl

after configuring Xenosim along with the gcc -2.95.3 tar .gz when I try to

Re: [Xenomai-core] Skin Arinc 653

2008-07-17 Thread Bruno Rouchouse
Hi Mark,

2008/7/17 Marc Kaufmann [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Hello people,

I am a new member, registred on Gna! Xenomaï mailing lists.

At the moment, my role is to help teams to develop embedded software in
aerospace (aeronautics system including Scade applications, middleware and
 basic/complex operating system ...).

I have some questions about Xenomaï:

- Is a skin Arinc 653 available or not ?

Not that I know about. No official skin has been implemented so far.

-
- If not, is-it possible to develop spatial/temporal partioning on top
of Xenomaï ?

Xenomai should have all mechanisms available to allow such implementation.
I remember that Philippe added some piece of implementation a while ago in
order to allow multiple thread suspension. The idea behind that was to
enable Arinc-653 partitioning model, although it can apply to any time slice
scheduling.

-
- Shall Xenomaï require a Linux platform to run ?

Yes Xenomai micro kernel and skins are developed on top of the Linux
kernel, although I think it is possible to make it run on bare metal i.e.
only using Xenomai scheduler without Linux as a host operating system.

-
- If Linux is not required, is-it a faq or some directives in order to
make a port on a scratch operating system or an existing micro-kernel
(example : MicroCOS-II, uCLinux, eCos ...) ?

Probably possible but I don't know enough about Xenomai's implementation to
be able to answer that one. You also have to be aware of potential licensing
issues here. Xenomai is published under GNU General Public License (GPL).

-
- Can be Linux replaced by a VxWorks COIL (Core OS Interface Library)
architecture ?

You are not at the same level here. COIL is a proprietary and specific
library of WindRiver's Arinc-653 platform which provides basic
functionalities to allow communication between application and the core OS.
If Linux is used as Core OS with the help of Xenomai and a specific skin to
implement partitioning, talking about COIL here is not appropriate.

-

Sorry, if my questions seem to be newbies, it is my first collaboration
 on this mailing list !

 Regards,
 Marc Kaufmann.

Please be careful, do not mix the directories used by the script with

I am trying to run this script, so a few words of advice:
  - the script parse the output of a few commands, so will not work
properly if your linux is non-english. Add export LANG=C at the
  beginning of the script to avoid this issue;
  - you will need gpg properly installed and configured with kernel.org
signature imported for the script to verify kernel.org archives
signatures. Once gpg is configured, importing kernel.org signature is
  easy:
  gpg --keyserver wwwkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 0x517D0F0E
  - the script will spend a lot of time downloading kernel archives and
patches when you run it, do not worry, this will happen only once.

Ok. The script needed some changes to work anew.

The scripts result, when run with the example configuration can be found

Dear Xenomai users,

The website has been completely migrated to mediawiki format for a

HOWTO, examples, documentation...) as well as an easier update as far
as Xenomai releases and news are concerned.

I want to say many thanks to all the people who advise me with
different frameworks suitable for this website (Trac for instance) but
since we already have a powerful workspace for the project hosted on
GNA (https://gna.org/projects/xenomai/), I'd rather chosen to keep the
mediawiki solution I had started with.

Please feel free to send me any remarks about the current wiki. It is
not fully completed yet but there is enough material for the migration

acceptable and publishable documents. Should be ready within a week I
hope as far as html output is concerned.

I will then migrate all available documents to xml docbook to finally
obtain a real documentation base for the project. I will start with a
Getting Started document and also technical article already published

Re: [Xenomai-core] Planetplanet on the web site?

2006-03-10 Thread Bruno Rouchouse
Hi Romain !

For your information Xenomai website currently uses Joomla CMS
framework. The website is currently hosted by the fsffrance whose sys
admin is really careful about security issues. This means that we are
advised to use debian stable packages only. I don't know if such a
package exists for Planet (I don't find it via debian search engine.)

I need to check first if it is not possible to register news feeds
directly with Joomla. Maybe it offers this functionality as a module.
I'm quite sure though I am going to stick to joomla because I noticed
that some browsers (Konqueror for example) have problems displaying the
website correctly !

By the way I encourage anyone having problems with Xenomai website to
send me a short email ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) with the problem(s)
encountered and the version of browser used.

Thanks for the idea though. I am going to take it into consideration
and will let you know... In the meantime it is always possible to
reference any blog (or website) about Xenomaiin the weblink section.

[Xenomai-core] [Website] Current issues

2005-12-01 Thread Bruno Rouchouse
Hi !

You will find below some information about current issues concerningXenomai website.

Just for your information, I performed some slight improvements on Xenomai website. The main menu column has actually been resized smaller, not too much though in order to keep a reasonable size for the NewsFlash area.

Next step is to do the same with the top banner (probably half size) which will be done as soon as I find a web designer willing to work on this task. If you find some pictures (free from rights) that would fit well in a banner (or just in part of the composition), don't hesitate to send it to me.

There is still a problem with xenomai.org redirection and clean URL since the domain name is automatically remapped to
http://snail.fsffrance.org/www.xenomai.org/
I'm currently investigating the problem with the system administrator of the fsffrance which hosts the website.

Migration of API documentation should be done by the end of the week.

Finally a wiki has been installedand is available athttp://snail.fsffrance.org/www.xenomai.org/wiki/doku.php

The purpose of this wiki is to facilitate the working-out of draft document such as FAQ for example. Feel free to use it if you think you have relevant information that could be part of more complete documents. You will have to register first at
http://snail.fsffrance.org/www.xenomai.org/wiki/doku.php?id=startdo=register
. After registration, an email will be sent to your email address and I will give you proper rights for creating pages.

Re: [Xenomai-core] Official logo

2005-11-17 Thread Bruno Rouchouse
Hi Dmitry,
first of all and before I answer each one of your points, you have to
know that I used for the website a CMS called Joomla. The template has
been found on Internet in order to save time on webdesign which
requires real design skills. My goal was to set up a, let's say, enough
good looking website as soon as possible.

That said, CMS have their advantages as well as drawbacks in the sense
that they are not always very easy to customize. Of course it is just
PHP combined with HTML but it takes time to tune everything because web
technologies suck :) You change one little thing here and the whole
layout of the page is messed up (and I don't even talk about the
different versions of browsers !)

So let's examine the points now :
On 11/16/05, Dmitry Adamushko [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
Hi Bruno,I have a few remarks on the new web-site :)- lots of blank space at the bottom/left/right side of the page (width isabout 3 cm. approx.) err.. is it really necessary (functionality ordesign-wise)? ok, it's difficult to argue on the design side since it's,
well, very subjective :)

On the left: it depends on the length of the header of the article,
sorry but can't do anything about that beside resizing the whole table.
Is it really disturbing ?
On the right side, it is normal because this area is reserved for adding logos, special ads etc. It is not used at the moment.
All in one: yes you may be right and I guess I could get rid of this area and resize then the whole thing to avoid blank areas.
- Main menu is not that easily accessable. e.g. I need to scroll the page a
bit down in order to get access to the login form or even (when my mozillahas a personal toolbar switched on) - to the Development Source Codesub-menu
Don't really understant that one ! I use a laptop with 15in screen and
don't have this problem. What screen size and resolution do you use ?
As far as I am concerned, the whole website is visible on an entire
page.
- default font is too small and a bit faded (grey on white background or white
on gray one)
I used the template as it is (I didn't change the CSS). I trust
webdesigners for that and I'm not sure black fonts would look any
better. I can try though.
- Opera and Mozilla show some news/topic headers adjusted differently.Actually, everything is left-adjusted with Mozilla and some parts are
centered with Opera, e.g. it may look like:HomeXenomai v2.0.1Written by AdministratorSunday,
13 November 2005Ok, it's not that important and likely easily fixable.
I didn't try the website on all browsers. I will have a look at this particular point.
- the picture of sky with Real-Time framework for Linux and NewsFlash boxtake too much space (almost a whole bottom half of the page). I would not saythat part is so informative and so deserves that amount of space.

Again, the template has been designed by professionals, some
people may like it others don't ;) The most important thing is that the
load time has to be short. As far as the size is concerned, I don't
want to change it at the moment since the banner will for sure be
redesigned in the near future (just need the idea for that). I guess we
can make it a bit smaller then.
that's what I have in my mind at the moment :o)
Thanks for the remarks.

Regards,

Bruno---Best regards,Dmitry

The logo looks nice - who's the designer? Shouldn't (s)he work out theimage as well...?
I designed the logo. After a couple of beers I got inspired but I would
need to drink too much to obtain the same result with the image :)
More seriously, I already know someone that can help for the
banner. The thing is more to find the ideas about the content of this
picture. It'll take a bit of time to come to maturity. I'm going to
concentrate on the content until there :)
Feel free to send me your comments if any but don't forget it is just a preview with a bunch of stuff missing.
Some further potential items of interest for the menu or sub-pages (noparticular ordering):- Documentation (link to the pdf folder or, even better, a page listing the available docs)
- Download(obvious)- SVN (quick access to checkout instructions and the viewer)- Cross-Ref (our service for browing the code, may also be
migrated and adapted to the page design, an update of
the lxr engine could also be considered - I could try to have a look)- Roadmap (what's scheduled for the near- and long-term, ok, this will need maintenance...)

OK thanks I take that into account.
Looking forward to the final site release!

I should be finished by the end of the week, well at least something acceptable for xenomai.org to be redirected. More content (public FAQ, technical articles, short install guide etc.) should follow.

A preview is already online on gna: http://snail.fsffrance.org/www.xenomai.org/index.php

rtai site, i.e. only one menu. ;)
