Basically - upgrade to a later XFree86 version. Your problem, looks like
it's a driver bug.
You are running XFree86 4.1.0 that's over 2 years old.
I'd try either XFree86 4.3.0 or the newly released XFree86 4.4.0.

I tried using the radeon driver but the server exits with the following

To run any chipset needing the i810 driver please update to XFree 4.3.X or
