Leonard,

Yes, there is the opposing Tantric view which is that by properly
engaging in sex with a woman the chi of both can be strengthened. I
can vouch that this does work!

It should be noted that at least some sects of Taoism preach that
the sexual energy should be turned inward to entend longevity if
not immortality. They view sex with women as a draining of chi

I used to vote Libertarian, but Bob Barr is a hostile Republican covert agent
sent to destroy Libertarianism which typically draws votes away from
Republicans. Remember how rabidly he attacked Bill Clinton's sexual escapades
until it came out that at the same time he was also having an affair. A true
deeply hostile hypocrite. Just look at the anger in his face.

Like
a new pair of underwear, we begin the day with a new personality cleared

LOL. Ok I still agree with you, but also declare myself free of the
obligation, because I already brought up a book about a month ago.
Daido Loori's "The Art of Just Sitting." As for personal
experience, I did 30 minutes of zazen this morning though I did have
to get up once to make an emergency run to the bathroom. This
happens when your early morning sitting includes a cup of coffee...

Wait! I've changed my mind. So now a vote for 'What Bill Said' means:

One out of every three of every participant's postings must quote a
Buddhist-oriented book they have recently read. Also, one out of three
postings must be about your personal experiences in your zen practice. For
those mathematicians out there, the remaining posting is potpourri -
although a modicum of decorum will be expected. These ratios will be
constantly monitored and violators will be made fun of by the other forum
participants. Any postings making fun of said violators will not count in
the posting ratio guidelines.

This change of mind is due to the 'perpetual impermanence of all things'
(which I read in some Buddhist book I read (recently) AND personally
experience all the time in my own zen practice (What should I order tonight
- the veggie pizza or the double-pepperoni?), so this posting counts for 2
of my 3 required postings so now I have a free shot at posting whatever I
want.)

Thanks for your continued support...Bill!

My opinion is the same as Bills, pretty much exaclty!

Try the poll again. I have revised it and added two new choices to have
consideration for the diversity of the participants.

RE: [Zen] New poll for Zen_Forum

2006-02-23 Thread Kathy
I went ahead and voted
   >o Yes, Zen applies to everything in life and society

My first impression of "Zen applies to everything in life and society"
is the way I see everything anyway... with a Zen swing to it. But, I
guess not everyone sees life that way, so in that respect the poll
choice is a little vague.

So, I will qualify my vote to say:
   >o Yes, Zen applies to everything in life and society but keep
discussions about how we apply Zen to the issue, what is Zen-ish about
the issues, if we haven't looked at the issue with a Zen eye, then how
can we see the issue in a Zen light, etc.

I didn't vote because neither of these adequately represents my opinion.

I would prefer to see only discussions pertaining to zen on this forum.
If
I want to discuss other topics I can go to other forums.

On the other hand zen does pertain to everyday life and we should be
able to
freely discuss that. HOWEVER, I think it's very simplistic to say 'zen
applies to everything in life and society' if said as an excuse to
discuss,
say or do whatever you want.

I would like to see here only discussions which are either focused on
zen or
relate back to zen.

An example would be the recent discussions on political pundits. As
long as
your discussions on their activities or their views relate to your zen
practice, then I say FINE, GO FOR IT! If, however, you are just using
the
zen forum as a 'bully pulpit' to air your own views, then I say GO
SOMEWHERE
ELSE for that.
