I have noticed that my /opt/zenoss/bin/zenoss_init_pre file contains only
template names and passwords like **USERNAME** instead of real data. like
localhosts
I believe you can make multiple templates with a different URL to
monitor and bind them where it makes sense (maybe per device?)
To use the nagios plugin - did you read the admin guide part about a
command data source? I expect that's how you'd do it.

The admin guide goes over a lot. The info on the site about HTTPMonitor
does more. On POP3/FTP, you could do port monitoring out of the box, or
you could look for a plugin (maybe Nagios plugin?) to do more than see
if the port is open.
There isn't currently (to my knowledge) a howto on
My Zenoss server is located in Chicago, and as such is set to CDT.
Here is an example of the problem.
From the server console it will report, 7AM.
If I browse to the Zenoss GUI from a computer on the same network in Chicago,
it will show, 7AM.
However, if I browse to it from my computer here
If the informant install didn't help - did you see if Informant was
actually running? That is, I've successfully installed Informant, but in
the event log it will show that the Windows SNMP service is skipping
loading it due to a missing dll (which is in the exact path listed in
the error). I
Check your snmp.conf file - make sure it's set to allow read from the
Zenoss system. Maybe try using FQDN or 127.0.0.1 rather than
localhost.localdomain ...

The sprint packages are beta release if you will. I'd stay away from them,
especially if you've done a lot of customization. Let other people work those
bugs out!
Wait until the next full release, if you can wait that long.

Hmm, I've gone ahead and done that. It seems to work OK if I run it in
the foreground with zencommand run -v10
but if I just have it running normally I never get any more data

Those log messages are the result of Zenoss monitoring port 25 on the
server, not it trying to send alerts out.
Estrange the log entry appears in my log file when a try to send a test message

Make sure you're not setting up alerting rules on the admin user as these

did you add the network address to discover? you need to type in the network
address 10.x.x.x/24 in that format. then the network will appear in the list

this, but when I pinged all of the devices on my network,

I'm trying to setup syslog-ng to work with zensyslog. There are no entries in

I haven't seen that issue personally. To b clear, the snmp agent on the device

I was checking the trac site to see the status of a ticket that was opened a

I put zenoss on a crappy old desktop machine in my cube and got most of it
working pretty good. A quick top command showed me that mysql was pushing the
poor thing hard. So I ran down to the data center and dropped in an Ubuntu
server disk in a Dell 850 figuring I would build zenoss on a real

I've got issues while monitoring Cisco ASA 5500 firewalls. The issues are as
follows,
(a) ZenOSS says snmp agent down on device while the SNMP up and running.
(b) All graphs are missing saying MISSING RRD FILE
(c) I've added a Data Source to gather CPU uptime
I updated zenoss 2.1.0 too 2.1.3 last week and got this strange error after that
