I would make a slightly different argument - that if you want to
receive mail for anything other than a local user or relay mail for
anything other than a local user, you have little choice but to enter
into the realm of configuring Sendmail regardless how RH sets up the
original install.
Moreover - all of the distributions are 'tightening' up their
install, offering default firewall setups and generally not starting
services that start up on first boot. It's the madcap internet
environment. After all, we are speaking about 'server' install choice
and this very much means you either know what you're doing or you are
on a path to learn what you are doing because very little is
installed in terms of configuration utilities anyway.
