As for random crap getting in the engine bay, you can set dwn a wire mesh 
over the hole in the hood. Water? Yes, but Weapon*R filters, and K&N's are 
oiled, which keeps most water out. Cavalier hood scoop? No, the scoop was 
from a 300ZX.
