so? i remember a northwest flight to delhi from amsterdam a couple of years ago that was delayed because some people wanted a whisky, and got annoyed when told that alcohol was only served after take-off (i think nwa has now stopped serving free alcohol even on intercontinental flights, but not back then). they yelled at the air hostess and took out their duty free bottles to drink, and yelled some more when told that they were not allowed to drink their own liquor. the captain had to come and decided to disembark them because they wouldn't shut up. so we all had to wait for their bags to be unloaded. embarrassingly, they were indian. i guess in a population of a billion rude and raucous behaviour is more noticeable. the chinese recognise this and use severe measures - death to rapists, etc - so that things seem more civilised (and single women can travel safely, or more so than in (north) india). -rishab
