That starter is NOT real Kefir. Mostly its just a way to get you sucked into buying their products. Real Kefir is made with grains, that multiply. The starter is only good for a few batches then you have to replace it. The grains not only don't wear out you will soon have plenty to share with friends.

As for the Soy Kefir question, yes it can be done. Suggest you go to Dom's site to learn more. http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html Dom is the internationally acclaimed guru for all things Kefir/water kefir.

Nenah, are you familiar with water kefir? It's delicious!

That is unfortunate, but at least you have found an
alternative. We each must listen to our own bodies.

[zoe w] Nenah, Another solution is Kefir and/or
Kombucha both healthy pro-biotics that you can make at
home - also commercially available. Both of these
have proven useful in not only weightloss, but in
balancing the body in general. They rebalance your gut
flora as well as aid in detoxifying- its a win/win situation.

Not if youâEUR^(TM)re allergic to dairy and react
negatively to Kombucha. I cannot tolerate either of
those, for numerous reasons. Believe me, IâEUR^(TM)ve
tried all variants, including making my own from organic
(and in the case of dairy) raw goatâEUR^(TM)s milk. Not
            good for me.
