It uses the principle of galvanic response. The theory is that our skin varies in resistance depending on whether the pores are open or closed. It appears that emotion can cause the pores to either relax and open or tighten up and close. The galvanometer is simply a ohm meter (usually a wheatstone bridge). It has 2 leads. They attach directly to the skin.
